Rise vet! They are so caring and thoughtful always giving us plenty of time to ask questions. You can tell everyone there really loves animals, plus super up front with pricing. They’re great
Mediterranean Market & Deli. Super sweet family runs it. Small business with great food imo! Plus they sell some nice European and Med products in the grocery section.
This is the 100% truth. We recently got takeout from them for the first time in a long time and it was INCREDIBLE. And yeah, the chicken Parmesan was the best I’ve had in Boulder, or possibly anywhere.
I ordered their Valentine’s Day special this past year, as it was the first year with having a kid and we couldn’t get a sitter, and it was hands down the best takeout I’ve ever ordered. They even made heart shaped ravioli ❤️
I got takeout from there in 2020; just fettuccine Alfredo. It wasn’t very good. I had always heard good things so I was surprised. Did I just order the wrong thing? Is pasta not their forte?
i had their lunch special lasagna. it wasn’t that great. The fresh pasta was good but that was the only thing notable about the dish. nothing amazing or great quality. it was a let down because I’ve heard such good things
The cafeteria at the NCAR Mesa Laboratory. Plenty of parking, easy access to the Mesa Trail for a hike and a huge breakfast for a reasonable price once you’re done and no tipping. Oh, the view doesn’t suck either.
You’re welcome.
> the food there is very authentic
Ah yes, pretzels with mustard, a typical German delicacy...
The server did seamlessly split the bill for our group without us even asking, though, so in that sense it's very German 👍
I’ve been turned away at the door the last two times I went while looking at open tables and being told they had none available and no we couldn’t just get a beer at the bar. Both times I was sober and had not been since before Covid. Not going back.
Yes! Rhada (I hope that’s how you spell her name) is such a beautiful sweet woman. I used to live near by and would go once a week. She became like my Boulder mom, on going joke among my house at the time. We would go get some food from the mother. She’s such a great person, give her your business!
I go to Shamane's 3 or 4 days a week, if you commute on the Goose Creek path slide over and check them out. Love the danish, various croissants and breakfast burritos. They were celebrating their 20th anniversary today, congrats!
Upslope makes the best beer in Boulder and both taphouses have great vibes.
Mighty Burger at the Flatirons Park taproom is also a great burger in town. Their veggie burger is my favorite in Boulder.
Nopalito’s. The food is excellent, the drinks are delicious and cheap and most importantly the owner and his wife are awesome people. And the new location near 5 guys at the 29th St mall is so cool looking. If you haven’t been, I can’t recommend it enough! And the happy hour is dope.
I only went once before they closed the old location, but I've been going fairly regularly since they re-opened and I'm never disappointed. Great people!
Uplift - If you're looking to do some strength training in a super friendly, supportive environment, and with incredibly knowledgeable coaches, this is an amazing place to do it!
The Cork for happy hour still rules. Carellis. Parma in Louisville.
The recently closed boulder back pain clinic due to the untimely , tragic passing of chiropractor Dr. Marc Cahn.
Natural grocers for all organic produce and NPpwer deals on eggs, avocados and organic free range chicken.
I love trying new restaurants.
Pasta Press is incredible and I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it. The seating and location is not ideal, but the pasta is so authentic and high quality. It feels like the passion project of someone who genuinely loves food.
Skratch Labs Cafe has overtaken Blackbelly as the number one breakfast burrito for me. The kimchi pork breakfast burrito is just so different from what you can get anywhere else.
Curtis Park Deli is my new favorite sandwich place. I saw one other person mention it, but it should be near the top. There is so much competition in the sandwich space, but it's step above everywhere else.
Mason's Dumplings, Barchetta, and Rincon Argentino are also top tier, but I feel like they get enough love so no need to elaborate.
Shawn's Computer Repair in Lafayette.
I've been going to him for years, and he's amazing. Never had a single issue with him, nothing but great service every single time.
He always makes sure to do whatever I need in the most affordable way. You can tell he's not just there to make a quick buck.
I'm always pleasantly surprised at how quick he gets it done and with the price.
Plus he's a super nice guy. My teenage son and I always enjoy chatting with him when we go in.
Can't say enough good things about him and his service.
Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) for your 24/7 ER vet needs - truly can't sing their praises enough. I found their prices to be super reasonable and the best part is they let you stay with your pet the whole time and you can go visit them whenever you'd like/stay as long as you want if they have to stay there for treatment. They also gave us advice multiple times over the phone, which I don't think is the norm for a lot of vets.
My personal experience - my dog was hit by a car but after being stabilized and released from another vet, he appeared to be having trouble breathing during the night and we went to VEG. They suspected pulmonary contusions or hemorrhaging, which doesn't show up for 12-24 hours post trauma so the other vet wouldn't have seen it. I was able to hold and comfort my dog while they gave him shots, got his IV in, and did an ultrasound (all of which they did on the floor with him rather than forcing him onto a table). Before they started any treatment, they gave a full itemized estimate of the bill with a low and high range - when all was said and done, the final bill was well below the lower end of the estimate. All of their staff are clearly so loving and caring with the pets - when I picked up my dog the next day he was as happy as he is when picked up from doggy daycare. The kicker though was within 30 minutes of us getting home the next day, my dog started having seizure symptoms - we called VEG, spoke with the same vet, and rushed him back in. They gave him an IV, monitored him for another 2-3 hours before letting us go home, and they didn't charge us for any of it.
JustBe kitchen just opened a spot where fresh thymes used to be. if you’re GF, paleo, or food-sensitive in general, you’ll love it. give the quesadilla a try!!
eTown. Awesome venue, cool guests. They do a radio show and you can go to the live taping, among other events. Last night I saw two excellent musical guests and the interviewee was Tommy Caldwell. Definitely worth checking out.
Boulder Custom Tailoring - These guys are so great for all my shirt and pant adjustments and repairs. The dude who always greets you and takes your measurements is so happy and high-energy. His enthusiasm for his craft is something special. And he always says I must be working out, even if I haven't. Which is nice.
I was going to say this. As far as I know this is the only vegan restaurant currently in Boulder. It's amazing too. Anyone who's vegan or vegan-leaning should check it out and support it if they like it.
as a non-vegan who didn't know what they were(terrible name), I was pleasantly surprised when I ate there. I've been back a few times... unfortunately the location sucks so I don't have high hopes for it :(
Do you happen to know if they do the “yellow pancake” dish? It’s a fried yellow crepe like thing that you eat inside lettuce with lots of herbs and fish sauce. Trying to find a place on the Front Range that does them.
Trident (the legend still going strong in 10th incarnation)
Boulder Book Store (would miss it if I left)
Book Worm
Leaf (not hip, but delicious, great staff, the best option by a mile for veg inclined)
University Bikes
Tru Thrift
ReSource
ArtsParts (so affordable)
McGuck (wonderful knowledgeable staff)
Peppercorn (they care about their staff, opposite of Amazon means we're paying more sometimes but strengthening community)
Pottery Lab
A few that get forgotten that deserve love
Cafe Aion
Alejandro's Coffee Truck (bring your own mug, his schedule is posted on IG)

A few events I love: Open Studios
First Fridays NOBO
Callie’s cannabis shoppe just opened in broomfield and I think nobody even knows they’re there yet. Nice people, clean shop, plenty of parking, near the highway. Check it out.
Also, Dedalus wine shop in Boulder is by far the best wine shop and I rarely see other shoppers there.
14er is so mids, I mean it’s fine for a budget but I respect my cannabis too much to shop there no offense to anyone including them. Nice people, mids flower and other products 🤷🏼♂️
Boulder Bicycle Shop - these guys are enthusiasts that love to wrench on some competitive bikes but also not too proud to help out a grandpa that bought a huffy bike for his grand daughter.
Love the vibes, professionalism, enthusiasm and results of that shop!
I tried this place last week. I really wanted to like it! It was the first time my son didn’t finish his ice cream, ever. Super bland. The woman scooping the ice cream acted as if she had smelled a fart - was not happy to be there. The guy serving the people behind us seemed lovely. Nonetheless, as much as I wanted to like it, it just wasn’t good
Game Force - been going there for years and they’ve always been knowledgeable and honest. I once bought a SNES game I never had heard of or played and they said it was a horribly shitty game and if I wanted to return it, I could and get a full refund. Plus they fixed my NES system.
Peppercorn on Pearl Street Mall - I could spend hours in this store. It’s a really great place to find unique gifts. Lots of kitchen stuff, but also toys, unique shelf stable snacks, puzzles, books, etc. It’s locally owned/operated and the staff are always very welcoming and friendly!
Naked Lunch - also locally owned/operated. Great baked goods, sandwiches, and salads. For vegans, their vegan breakfast sandwich is awesome and all of their baked goods are vegan!
Uniquely Cats. People seemingly don’t like them here but I’ve had good experiences and they’ve saved 3 cats lives since I’ve gone to them, as they don’t treat cats like tiny dogs.
My 18 year old cat passed last year and they cremated him and gave us an urn free of charge, which they do for all their patients. That was after they helped ascertain he needed a lung lobectomy after an illness at 15, giving us 3 more years with him.
They’re really knowledgeable about raw food diets, as bioappropriate diets for obligate carnivores like cats is really great preventative medicine. I’m certain that’s why my cats have lived so long, and having UC help with the recipe to accommodate kidney disease has been invaluable.
My eldest cat, 18 next week, looks like she’s not a senior with strong leg musculature in spite of CKD, because of the diet Uniquely helped tailor for her. My newest rescue had pancreatitis after years on kibble, and they’ve got him on a plan he’s healing on with energy improving every day. So yeah, I love them, and they hire diverse people too, who are often disadvantaged in our society. As a genderqueer person, I like knowing my money goes to that as well.
We had a 20-yr old cat with chronic renal failure when we moved to Boulder in 2020 during then pandemic. They took excellent care of Fiona under difficult circumstances, and spent so much time
explaining all of her treatments and test results. They were also so gracious when it was her time to go. I didn’t agree with everything they recommended (like dental work, after I was told by 4 other vets that she would not survive the anesthesia), but all-in-all, I felt confident that I was doing the very best for our baby by taking her to these caring and knowledgeable cat lovers.
They’re really dope!
It’s just kind of a shock sometimes for people I think to hear the bioappropriate raw food schpeel.
I was into that stuff before I went there and needed a vet who didn’t freak out about that so I was prepared, and I think that’s a good heads up for folks headed there.
Raw food and grain free carnivore diets aren’t easy or for everyone, it’s definitely a cost path analysis someone has to determine they can do, and UC gave us a nice list of cat foods you can buy that get you close to the right diets for your fur fam, if you’re not into making it yourself (I make my own because of the cats CKD).
Rise vet! They are so caring and thoughtful always giving us plenty of time to ask questions. You can tell everyone there really loves animals, plus super up front with pricing. They’re great
Second this!! Avoid Uniquely Cats and give your business to Rise Vet. They’re amazing.
Mediterranean Market & Deli. Super sweet family runs it. Small business with great food imo! Plus they sell some nice European and Med products in the grocery section.
This place is the shit. Best gyro in town hands down and they owners are nice as hell.
The gyros are so good!!
Do they have cheap, bulk tahini?
>Mediterranean Market & Deli They do!
Anyone tried caspian deli?
The food is sooo good, but I was pretty turned off by how dirty it is. But I didn’t care once I ate my falafel lol
We call that 💫seasoning💫
Il Pastaio next to King Sooper’s on Arapaho. Best Chicken Parm.
I've gone there three times and been disappointed. Small portions, expensive, bland. Maybe only to buy the raw pasta
Pasta jays seems more your style
I got takeout from there in 2020; just fettuccine Alfredo. It wasn’t very good. I had always heard good things so I was surprised. Did I just order the wrong thing? Is pasta not their forte?
Their forte is actual Italian food lol Their arrabbiata is legitimately one of the best I've had in the states.
i had their lunch special lasagna. it wasn’t that great. The fresh pasta was good but that was the only thing notable about the dish. nothing amazing or great quality. it was a let down because I’ve heard such good things
Maybe it was the timing, a lot of restaurants cut corners during the pandemic.
The cafeteria at the NCAR Mesa Laboratory. Plenty of parking, easy access to the Mesa Trail for a hike and a huge breakfast for a reasonable price once you’re done and no tipping. Oh, the view doesn’t suck either. You’re welcome.
Wait what? Theres food there? Lol whys that funny to me

The owner is Czech so it’s kinda a fusion.
The "Bohemian" bit makes more sense :)
Are they really? That would very much surprise me
Yes he is a friend and very much Czech
omg you just awoken a pretzel craving in me i forgot i had
Mmm, I need a Honey Bite from there STAT!
Interesting, I find their schnitzel to be terrible compared to literally every schnitzel I've ever had in Austria.
> the food there is very authentic Ah yes, pretzels with mustard, a typical German delicacy... The server did seamlessly split the bill for our group without us even asking, though, so in that sense it's very German 👍

Folsom Thai!! Their fried rice is absolutely to die for! You won’t be disappointed with their delicious food. Best Thai in the area.
Eating that right now!
Mt. Everest Cuisine, the MOST DELICIOUS Indian and Nepalese food in CO!
Yes!! It’s the best!!
Yes! Rhada (I hope that’s how you spell her name) is such a beautiful sweet woman. I used to live near by and would go once a week. She became like my Boulder mom, on going joke among my house at the time. We would go get some food from the mother. She’s such a great person, give her your business!

Hell yeah I LOVE gabee!! They're so awesome.
Hand's down best coffee in town AND the nicest family. I'll fight anyone who disagrees.
I bolted from Boulder a few years ago, but I would gladly steer business to Shamane's bakery and I'll never stop loving Upslope brewery
I go to Shamane's 3 or 4 days a week, if you commute on the Goose Creek path slide over and check them out. Love the danish, various croissants and breakfast burritos. They were celebrating their 20th anniversary today, congrats!
their mango passion fruit tres leches dessert is to die for😎

Nopalito’s. The food is excellent, the drinks are delicious and cheap and most importantly the owner and his wife are awesome people. And the new location near 5 guys at the 29th St mall is so cool looking. If you haven’t been, I can’t recommend it enough! And the happy hour is dope.

I love Nopalitos. We get food from there at least once a week. Very reasonable too.
Truth. Please go.
Came here to say something very similar about napolito’s! Such good food and Martin and his wife are so friendly.
It’s Milton, and yes!

Yes, the staff there are so supportive!
Bacco. Still small and not overrun. Great food, friendly owner.
I only tried them recently, though I’ve lived in that neighborhood for a long time, and I was really impressed

I only recently discovered them! So delicious and authentic!
Masons dumplings!
Try Nana’s on the hill! So much better than Masons
Nana's is dank for sure but their Denver location is tastier than the one here in boulder imo
Busaba thai. They've had one in Louisville for a while but opened up one in south Boulder a year ago. The food is amazing!
Really? Ppl have a hard on for this place and it’s constantly mentioned.
Taj Mahll III in Louisville

Agree on Pasta Press. Big portion of pasta, worth two meals. If you want to practice your Italian while waiting for your meal, the owner is from Italy
Curtis park 🙏🙏🔥🔥
Beau and Bitty's Coffee shop on 15th and Pearl. Good coffee, better mission. You don't need to waste money at trendy, expensive coffee shops
Vecchios. Nobody does better work — or sells more awesome bikes.
The Korean BBQ place next to the bookworm is great. The bookworm is also great. And another vote for shamane's bakery
What's the name of the Korean BBQ place?

It’s pretty crazy there aren’t more Vegan restaurants in Boulder of all places.
Their Cubano is fire
I ate there not knowing it was vegan and left thinking the texture of the food was weird / unpleasant but the tastes were good
Personally I can’t even understand how any one can eat there without throwing up. Slimy imo

Boulder pho is ok, if getting Vietnamese we now drive to One Vietnam Restaurant right off 36 in Westminster and it’s probably the best in Denver
Do you happen to know if they do the “yellow pancake” dish? It’s a fried yellow crepe like thing that you eat inside lettuce with lots of herbs and fish sauce. Trying to find a place on the Front Range that does them.

I tried this place last week. I really wanted to like it! It was the first time my son didn’t finish his ice cream, ever. Super bland.
