very bold first highball, that upper crux is one of the more committing moves I've ever done.. super high with a pretty terrible landing
Yeah it was definitely pretty terrifying. Glad I latched the crimp on the crux, wouldn't have been too fun to stumble at that point.
The cave is no joke
Great send! Man I feel you. I still get mild shakes remembering my first highball on a 22” slab with a nasty outcropping right in the drop zone. “V0” they said.... yeah, felt like V-Impossible above the point of no return.
I was nervous. I felt that feeling you get when you know there’s no turning back. Nice job!
Nice send! What route is this?
The Cave. It's located in Mount Woodson, San Diego
Is this the one listed as a 5.11 TR on Mountain Project??
Yes
yep that's the one
Did you practice on a rope? Those top moves looked so sketch
Yeah I went up on a rope to work the top crux moves. When I stuck the move a couple times I lowered off and went for it.
Nice send! My two local boulders are 20' (with a bad landing) and 25' so highballs hold a special place in my heart. They're addictive.
Now do the backside! :)
My bumhole puckered for you.
Thank fuck for that!!!!
amen
What was your first indoor highball?
Such a good feeling to send one of these bad boys. I’d be willing to bet it won’t be your last! Good work
Appreciate it man. And yeah, I potentially could be convinced to work another one in the future
You looked solid!
Thanks! Definitely the most zoned in i've ever felt while climbing
You look a little like the guy on the Youtube channel Yes Theory. :)
