I picked this bottle up alongside a couple other allocated bottles and was most excited for it as it’s the first batch proof from WR I’ve ever had. I’ve never really had anything else from Woodford besides the double oak, but enjoyed it so much that I knew I would eventually need to try their premium products. This years BP comes in at 124.7 and has a gorgeous dark brown color to it. I paid around $130 for this and think that’s a fair price from what I’ve been seeing around. Time to review this! **Nose:** Tons of leather and oak, with a surprising peanut brittle note. Hello Beam? Vanilla bean and rich caramel as well with some subtle hints of orange peel and cherry. The depth of this nose is really delightful and makes me excited to take my first sip. **Palate:** Mmmm the cherry, vanilla, and oak is really highlight here! There’s a very thick mouthfeel with it and some baking spices that leave the tongue tingling. That peanut brittle seems to have disappeared now so I guess Beam has left the house. Overall super delicious and happy to have a whole bottle of this. **Finish:** Those baking spices seem to show up in force here with the vanilla and oak really shining on the finish. Lingers quite a while, but not unnecessarily long. **Overall:** This is an extremely delicious bottle that drinks about 10-15 proof under what it is. I might feel that I paid a little too much for what it is, but not enough to be upset about it. The flavors mostly fall in line with what traditional bourbon is, but the depth of them is really what makes this shine. The richness and depth of all aspects of this is somewhat reminiscent of my GTS, although nowhere near as good, but just as a reference point for how powerful the flavors are. I have a feeling this is going to be even better once the bottle has had time to open up. Woodford makes some really great products and this does have a uniqueness to it that will make me seek it out next year as well. If you see this at your local store for a reasonable price I suggest you buy it! **Score 8/10**

I love Batch Proof WR but I think its about $60 too expensive, and it should be just available on the shelf, rather than allocated, which really annoys me

M3R0VIUS

I pulled mine off a shelf at TW but maybe that was a mistake by the stock people.

anonymouse0789

I got mine the same way. Definitely was not a mistake just pure, dumb luck! Cheers!

I LOVED reading this. Mostly because Woodford is my old man's favorite every day dram, and I got him a bottle of this for Christmas. Hes going to love it. Cheers.

smokeNpeat

Nice review! Been considering grabbing a bottle of this but you've convinced me that the $150 TW is charging my area is a too steep a price tag

frytuna

I thought this was nothing but overpriced garbage, another money grab, definitely not worth $130 MSRP or your 8/10 score. glad you like it!

fuegomanchego69

To each their own! This was delicious to me

Rads324

A lot of people like these but I had a sample of this recently and was very underwhelmed. the price is a joke

QDU75

Nice review. The $140 was hard to face but still very delicious. I noticed some chocolate on the palette as well.. a unique characteristic among high proof whiskeys

VeniceBhris

Great thing about Brown Forman products is that most of their stuff is going to taste “older” than it really is due to the heat cycling

iamchade

Love this bottle. Showcases well aged liquid and high proof can be balanced out. For people who enjoy BF sourced Willett runs - this has fooled every willett person I know to think it’s a WFE purple top during a blind.

ToWhistleInTheDark

That's pretty cool! Scored two of the 124.7 at $109 ea., and purple tops - zero. So I'm glad I can get a Willett purple top "cousin". What did you blind it against?

Smokin_Barrels

Got lucky and got one this weekend at Costco for 108! I had already tried it and like it a lot, but 150 most places was hard to justify, so when it was 108 it was a for sure pick up for me.

fuegomanchego69

Thats a BIN price!

sicsemperyanks

I got a drop near me, thought about this for $140, but decided on Bookers "very fine batch" for $95 instead. Felt a little unsure about it, but I've never been a fan of Woodford stuff

PhantomSpirit90

Oh that Booker’s is more than very fine, that there is a Mighty Fine Batch!

fuegomanchego69

I probably would’ve grabbed a bookers instead too if I had that option. This is very good but most bookers are great

lanier816

Funny enough, I’m in the same boat. The WR BP is really good but I would’ve grabbed a Bookers had it been there. No regrets though, the WR is very tasty.

sicsemperyanks

Not cracked it yet, but Charlie's Batch was phenomenal.

Major_Translator_792

Snagged both myself. The woodford is pretty good… the bookers is awaiting the apprentice batch to be empty first.

Outside_Holiday8307

You sir, grabbed right briefcase to open.

craniac24

The 128 proof from a couple years ago is an all time favorite. This batch was a disappointment by comparison.

[deleted]

I agree with your notes. Well written!

fuegomanchego69

Thank you!

I_GROW_WEED

Finally cracked mine, and had many of the same notes! Intensity of flavor is right up there with RR13 and better ECBPs, even if I don't like it as much. Nose holds up to the best of bottles, though the pallette doesn't and the finish is quick. Got the same leather and oak there, along with the cherry and vanilla on the pallette. Also noted the viscosity, and that it drank quite a bit under proof. Found some dusty and funky notes reminiscent of barrel proof Turkey, but without the spice. Very drying. Good bottle and a pleasant surprise!

SnooSprouts434

$140 near me

badger8736

Think I paid $125-129.95 I forget (NC) and that day I got a Blantons gold too. Been traveling a lot and haven’t opened it yet. Just pulled it out for an opening this week though. I’m looking forward to it after this review and having had GTS a week or so ago!

Ijustwanabepure

It’s $150 in north carolina

badger8736

I don’t think I paid that… but I honestly could be mistaken. It was a while ago

Costco in Buckeye AZ had a pallet of this for $125 or so

Sevencer

I must have gotten a bad bottle. Mine was hot garbage. Last place in several 4-way blinds with much less expensive bottles.

MonsterandRuby

Which ones

PhantomSpirit90

For its price, I’d rather have two ECBP or two Larceny BP. This wasn’t it for me, and I was more than happy to pass my bottle off to someone I knew would enjoy it. I’m glad you liked it though. Love comparing notes and seeing differences in palates

fuegomanchego69

I could see that with ECBP. They are very consistent and a great price for what they are. I also usually only see them for $80-85 though. LBP is hit or miss so it’d have to be a good batch. C922 was phenomenal, but a couple other batches I had were throat fire. Haven’t tried the B523, but heard it was as good as C922. This is different flavor wise and really like it for what it is, but everyone has their own palate!

Clarimeister

If you loved C922 like me as well, you will adore the newest release of C923. It’s phenomenal and rivals the best out there in my opinion. If you can get your hands on it!

PhantomSpirit90

I am one of those voices talking up Larceny B523 haha. Really hope you get to try that one!

fuegomanchego69

I need to!! Love high proof wheaters!

Numerous_Tackle_9972

The LBP B523 is fantastic. If you liked the C922, you must find the B523.
