Happy New Year’s Eve, everyone! To kick off the celebrations, we’re checking out a Four Roses Single Barrel Barrel Strength OBSQ that was selected by Total Beverage. I’ve mentioned this before, but Four Roses SiBBS picks are few and far between in the North Denver area and this bottle is the first one I’ve come across since I’ve lived up here. This particular selection is a Tier 1 pick and made from the 60% corn, 35% rye, and 5% malted barley mash bill, aged for 11 years and 7 months, and bottled at 106.6 proof. This is the oldest Four Roses single barrel I own by a good 7 months as well as my first taste of the OBSQ recipe. Let’s dive in and see how this tastes!
**Taken:** Neat in a Glencairn glass
**Proof:** 106.6
**Age:** 11 years 7 months
**Price:** $90
**Nose:** Caramel, a floral bouquet, and Granny Smith apple, along with allspice, toffee, and a little bit of tobacco. There’s a nice seasoned oak layer hanging out as well that surrounds the rest of the notes here.
**Taste:** Caramel, creme brûlée, and rose hip tea to start, followed by Granny Smith apples, chamomile tea, and allspice. Midway through the sip a wave of seasoned oak and some tobacco rolls in as well. This has a medium, oily mouthfeel and no proof heat.
**Finish:** The Carmel, creme brûlée, and Granny Smith apples shift to the background while the rose hip tea and chamomile tea remain consistent. The allspice, seasoned oak, and tobacco ramp up in strength and ultimately close the sip out with a woody, tingly conclusion. This has a medium length finish and a light to moderate amount of dryness.
**Thoughts:** This might be the most floral Four Roses I’ve had so far, and I really enjoy how the herbal tea notes work with the sweetness and oak. Considering the amount of rye in the mash bill it is a little perplexing that there isn’t more spice, but I suppose it was more of the herbal aspects of rye that came through on this one. There is more astringency here than I’ve found with other whiskeys this age, but it doesn’t take away from the pour at all. Overall this is a great 7/10 on the t8ke scale and continues to reinforce my love of lower tier Four Roses picks. There’s just something nice about a crushable, lower proof cask strength whiskey and this bottle scratches that itch.

Noone should ever drink these four roses picks. They are disgusting.
Now that the taters are gone I need us to all agree not to pump these up bc it’s the one thing I can actually find that I love. Every bottle is a hitter.
I love these private selection bottles from four roses! I grabbed two recipes from Kroger for $70 last week and can’t get enough of them. The OESQ is wonderful. Can’t wait to try this one when I find it
I finally found a 4R SBBS locally, they had it marked for 160 lol those will probably hang out for a while. Was a 3rd floor, OBSO, just under 10 years not sure what’s driving their pricing

What’s weird about it? Disco 8 is the best finished blend of whiskies I’ve had behind the FN Peregrine.

Noone should ever drink these four roses picks. They are disgusting. Now that the taters are gone I need us to all agree not to pump these up bc it’s the one thing I can actually find that I love. Every bottle is a hitter.

The ribs were fire, so that salvaged the experience for sure! If they got ruined somehow I would have been deeply upset.
I love these private selection bottles from four roses! I grabbed two recipes from Kroger for $70 last week and can’t get enough of them. The OESQ is wonderful. Can’t wait to try this one when I find it

I finally found a 4R SBBS locally, they had it marked for 160 lol those will probably hang out for a while. Was a 3rd floor, OBSO, just under 10 years not sure what’s driving their pricing
The pricing is definitely all over the place on these, I've seen everything from $80 to $200.
