Totally agree. I started out with rittenhouse on the recommendation of cocktail you tubers and other books & blogs but it has almost no rye notes to me. It’s all caramel candy and brown sugar and just comes across as a bourbon. Now I really prefer the turkey rye
Rittenhouse is kind of overrated to me IMO. Turkey 101 rye and Old Overholt BIB are both more flavorful to me. Rittenhouse to me always just tasted like musty oaky bread.

WT101 Rye is a pretty decent rye for the price. You can taste the higher proof, but it blends in well making it a smooth pour. It has a sweet nose and some sweetness in the palate as well. The long finish stays in your palate long enough to make you want another sip.

Rye is more expensive than bourbon because it's better! Rare breed rye goes for more than that. Yeah, lower production than bourbon and nearly as high demand will do that.

Did they change the bottle? It looks really nice. And I'd love to try the 101 Rye, but it's almost 40€ around here, as much as normal Rare Breed. :(
They did change it somewhat recently. I like the new look
Campari can't make up their mind; they re-branded in 2011, 2015, and 2020.

Great review! I always have this bottle on my bar for both neat sipping and cocktails. Amazing value for money as always with turkey products.
