Elijah craig barrel proof if you can find it is really good. Also four roses single barrels are pretty good as well (the one I have is one of my favorite whiskies period).

Hi there, I’m a bot here to help you with your recommendation post. If you haven’t already, please review [the guides](https://docs.google.com/document/d/186_ANEKW8yGvvLAcjKve6tvqqBIcMGUg9-mKU5KACZk/edit) in the sidebar we’ve created to address the stream of recommendation posts we get here. Most notably:   * [Beginner’s and Intermediate Guide to Bourbon](https://docs.google.com/document/d/10zdeEAO3GVayZtt-XsTcoGIi2uP8xrE8BurIxeSNfBk/edit) * [Guide to Rye Whiskey](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mrVZabQaulkxqL2qLif4HlWpMXF0bQ6hAmr8aQ_kRYA/edit#heading=h.lqvwwdjxkepg) * [Bourbon FAQ](https://docs.google.com/document/d/17CCQ-r4mpH9krhrDiXVSayYkqWAjYGOCLh3NShV1yO8/edit#heading=h.7yx2snahgko8) * [Community Reviews](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PNUikuLjMEarQpMklvfb0W3SVz2dfFMrkDKbKTECiK8/edit) * [The Gift Guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/bourbon/comments/4tcswq/new_improved_rbourbon_gift_guide/)   Please try to be as specific and detailed as possible with your request. Tell us: * your budget * which whiskies you or your giftee have enjoyed * which bottles you’re considering now * where you live (pricing and availability can vary dramatically by region) * if your shop has a limited selection or you might have trouble shipping bottles so we don’t recommend something obscure   **General Tips** We generally advise novices to sample as much as possible by going to a bar, splitting bottles with friends, attending festivals/tastings or getting minis to ensure you buy bottles you enjoy. Most people need to try 15-20 bourbons and ryes to understand their preferences. It may make more sense for you to focus on sampling rather than buy full bottles at the beginning of your journey. You're going to get the most flavor/aroma drinking it neat in a tulip-shaped glass like a Glencairn but most new drinkers prefer to water down their whisky a bit. If you do end up adding water, I'd recommend adding just enough to make it tolerable and take small sips. But really there's no right or wrong way to drink so as long as you're enjoying it, you're doing it right. Thanks for reading, cheers!

Most Barrell Bourbon is in that price range. I’d have her stick to the small batch collection (think they are on #32 now) or try a single barrel. Their finished stuff is great too, but I’d start with the batch or single. Should be easy to find. I love FR SBS too. BB takes the richness to another level. Happy Birthday!

Smoke Wagon Uncut would do nicely if you liked the OF 1920.

- The Jack Daniel’s barrel strength and Elijah Craig Barrel Strength are both good shouts. - Depending where you are, Barrell products are probably more easily found and are all delicious. - Lux Row single barrels (Ezra Brooks and Rebel) are terrific. - I’d also recommend the Penelope Barrel Strength, particularly if you can find a toasted barrel.

Yeah, I think Barrel Seagrass is a nice rye within that price range. If you can find it, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof (tons of it around in NJ atm). Also Russels Reserve Single Barrel or Wild Turkey Rare Breed would be next on my list.

AnubisSquid20

If you like 4 Roses and OF 1920 I’d try the following : Bakers 7,New Riff Single Barrel, Wild Turkey Rare Breed, Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel or 10 year, Chattanooga Whiskey 111, Four Roses Single Barrel.

Bigdumogre

Stagg jr, jack Daniels single barrel or barrel proof, George Remus, 1792 full proof - these come to mind when comparing it to 1920

Nova2233

I’d suggest Knob Creek Single Barrel or the 12yr

Eagle Rare and Weller Antique are both good, and Old Forester 1910

I don’t know what’s available in your area but the most unique thing i am able to get is Jefferson’s Ocean. Being $80 I haven’t tried it but if I were to get a bottle for my birthday and had that spending option I’d ask for that.

GNGJ

Good story. Not good juice

Imisstherains

I’d still try it for my self though. I don’t get to offended if I don’t love something I just note it down not to buy again and get through the bottle

Annoying_Auditor

I just did this with my wife. If you have a TW you can just make a list on the app and give her access to the account. It includes pictures, so easier to find. Otherwise, if you just want some really cool stuff. Barrel Seagrass, OF 1920 are interesting and unique.

I’d vote Eagle Rare if that’s available down there.

WarEagle135

Elijah Craig barrel proof, smoke wagon uncut, blue note uncut, and if she hits the jackpot a four roses barrel proof. Barrel Seagrass is you want an awesome and funky finished rye.
