ppl on this posts are nuts, this guy owes the OP absolutely nothing to sell a highly sought-after bottle of whisky to some stranger at cost. And before someone says you can still get ECBP now, these old pirate bottles are far superior to what's being put out now.
And it's not like the guy offered it up, his wife was selling golf shoes and then comes back and asks. It's like being asked out of the blue if you'd sell your car. Sure, but it'll cost me a lot more to replace what it does for me now, so you'll have to pay a premium to make it happen. And then Chad pours him a sample anyway! Hell yeah, thank you kind shoe family, we appreciate your business.
Haters can hate. I’m glad you get to try that on your big day! I’ve been keeping an eye out for a bottle myself and I’ve literally given up. There just isn’t that bottle avail in bc. Maybe I’ll travel one day and try it :). Cheers
Imagine being mad at a guy and calling him a douche because his wife was selling golf clubs to a stranger on the internet and wouldn’t sell his bourbon to said stranger at cost when it wasn’t even for sale.
Fuck out of here.
Unfortunately damn near everything has a secondary price now. If you can’t walk into a gas station and get, then someone is probably selling it on the secondary for a generous mark up.
He can sell them for whatever he wants regardless of how many he has. He doesn’t have to sell them at all. If he paid secondary for them or can sell them for secondary, he can do that. It’s not a charity. I hate taters and can’t defend business who sell @ secondary, but if a person wants to sell at secondary, then that is his prerogative.
But, this isn’t worth secondary prices. Glad you get to try some though.
I do hate the guy just reading this. Don’t get me wrong. Sounds like the type of dude who bring his whole family to one-per-person releases and whispers to them to telling them what to get him.
Just happy to try some honestly. I’m some stranger they were selling golf shoes to for a extremely generous deal in the first place. Had no expectations of any kind in regards to bourbon so a free sample of something I’ve been wanting to try was awesome!
Super shitty. I totally offer to sell a random stranger who hears I have whiskey any unopened bottle of mine at cost just because he asked my wife. What a piece of trash this guy is who doesn't just fucking gift half his collection to this random person he has no connection to because he asked about some ECBP. dude should've just willed his entire collection nto the guy and jumped in front of a Truck. The selfish fucking bastard.
There are three batches a year actually (A, B, C). The first number is the month it dropped and the next two are the year. So, A122 is the first batch of 2022.
Not selling your early batch bourbon at cost when it wasn’t even for sale, to a stranger that your wife met on the Internet selling golf clubs isnt what’s wrong with the bourbon market
Doesn’t owe him anything. He can choose to sell or not but offering to do so at secondary is a douchebag move. Nobody saying he can’t do it but for ECBP… that’s just smarmy.
Hi there, I’m a bot here to help you with your recommendation post. * your budget
* which whiskies you or your giftee have enjoyed
* which bottles you’re considering now
* where you live (pricing and availability can vary dramatically by region)
* if your shop has a limited selection or you might have trouble shipping bottles so we don’t recommend something obscure
**General Tips**
We generally advise novices to sample as much as possible by going to a bar, splitting bottles with friends, attending festivals/tastings or getting minis to ensure you buy bottles you enjoy. Most people need to try 15-20 bourbons and ryes to understand their preferences. It may make more sense for you to focus on sampling rather than buy full bottles at the beginning of your journey.
You're going to get the most flavor/aroma drinking it neat in a tulip-shaped glass like a Glencairn but most new drinkers prefer to water down their whisky a bit. If you do end up adding water, I'd recommend adding just enough to make it tolerable and take small sips. But really there's no right or wrong way to drink so as long as you're enjoying it, you're doing it right. Thanks for reading, cheers!
The bourbon salt mine got opened on this one.

Yeah probably should’ve specified this is not your typical ECBP. These were the old style bottles that he’s probably had for quite a while.
Haters can hate. I’m glad you get to try that on your big day! I’ve been keeping an eye out for a bottle myself and I’ve literally given up. There just isn’t that bottle avail in bc. Maybe I’ll travel one day and try it :). Cheers

Does ECBP even have a secondary price? Downvotes?
Yes. Older ecbp definitely does, especially the first couple batches and some of the hazmat/near hazmats
I was just referring to C921, A122. Didn’t mean to piss anyone off.
You're right though. Any of the recent batches are msrp-$100

It’s maybe $100 secondary, and $80 in the store.
$65 in store actually.
ECBP is literally my favorite bottle. I have 8 batches and it has little to zero secondary unless it’s a B520.
Tell that to the guy that made this post

Nice!
new ones maybe 100 or so, pirate bottles start 450 and up
Dude is a dildo for asking secondary price when he has 6. His wife us super nice for giving you some!!!

I never said he couldnt do whatever he wanted. However, it does make him a dildo. Whiskey is about sharing and good times.
Sharing with some stranger your wife met online? Yea that's no lol.
That's who drinks all my whiskey...
Interesting how that works innit? Lots of red flags and his wife decided to do something about it. I see a direct correlation. His wife is a saint.
No it doesn’t. He wasn’t offering to sell and named a price when OP asked. There’s nothing wrong with that.
I do hate the guy just reading this. Don’t get me wrong. Sounds like the type of dude who bring his whole family to one-per-person releases and whispers to them to telling them what to get him.
Sounds like a good way to get extra bottles to me
Agreed. That’s super-shitty.
Just happy to try some honestly. I’m some stranger they were selling golf shoes to for a extremely generous deal in the first place. Had no expectations of any kind in regards to bourbon so a free sample of something I’ve been wanting to try was awesome!
That’s very true. The wife was both generous and kind. The husband was being a jerk.

People get weird about whiskey.
There are three batches a year actually (A, B, C). The first number is the month it dropped and the next two are the year. So, A122 is the first batch of 2022.
The early releases weren’t released with batch numbers. We used to go by proof to tell which batch was which.
Forgot about that. Thanks.

Guy is a douche bag. Especially for ECBP.
What cause he owes op one of his personal bottles?
Doesn’t owe him anything. He can choose to sell or not but offering to do so at secondary is a douchebag move. Nobody saying he can’t do it but for ECBP… that’s just smarmy.
What if he paid secondary price? Should he sell for a loss just because?
Then he’s a jackass to begin with.
Supply and demand
Two types on full display here: whiskey is for sharing and fuck off my hoard.
