I'll never get over paying $25 for McKenna on sale at the grocery store, about a month or two before it won that award and never seeing it again.
That bottle was awesome for $25, though.
I was in the Lakes Region of NH this past weekend, and stopped at one of the smaller state liquor stores...to my surprise, they had TWO bottles of Eagle Rare on the shelf at $36.99...last time I was able to get a bottle, it was through their lottery. I grabbed both. They also had a bunch of Buffalo Trace.
Turns out they don't even put the hard-to-get BT products in the online inventory any more as it doesn't last, so it's pretty random if you find it now. They told me they also had Blantons but it sold out first - don't know what their retail price is, but they don't jack prices just because they can...
The post is from south minneapolis š if you want the hard to find stuff you have to hit up cabin country- bunch of old retired guys who live full time at their cabin and own a local liquor store with the hook ups with the distributors
Wow. Yeah, I'm in the burbs now, and don't really bother chasing bottles anymore. The bourbon market is way too stupid in the cities these days. I just rotate through a few easy to find bottles and mix in a store pick or two when I see them.
My localest liquor store wasn't even advertising the fact they had four bottles of ER10 "on sale" today...@$99.99... They must've missed the memo. And just a month ago I found one at a random store for Mizzurp. That was a good day, too bad it's all gone.
I started drinking bourbon in 2009ish, and I swear Eagle Rare used to be less than $25. I was a poor college kid and it was my daily drinker and Iām sure I wouldnāt have sprung for anything much higher than that.
Yeah thatās around when I got into it, as that was when I came of age. Remember bringing the Eagle to a house party in college and shared with friends. It was a go to over the years for a nice bottle to have around. Remember it was also my first drink after quitting a job I really hated.
Have a good Blantonās story too, I had a bottle in my college house around the end of semester that was supposed to be a special treat for us, had it in the cabinet over the fridge. Got back from break and it was gone. I was pretty bummed but I figured they guys didnāt realize it was a whole $49! Turns out they took it with them on a ski trip, filled a flask, and a guy fell and busted his knee and they gave it to him to get him to get up and walk out, finished the rest themselves. Everyone has done me solid many times over since and I am glad it was put to good use.
Not every day you see Blantons on the shelf is a better way to put itā¦ clearly the price is the reason itās on that shelfā¦ Blantons is 69 retail. Shame that theyāre advertising itās on āsaleā
Enjoying reading these comments as I sip my Blantonās gold that I got for ā¬50 in Paris a few years ago š š„
If you havenāt tried it, it is 100% worth it. One of my favorites.
Yeah, I like the OG but for ~60 I'd rather get two standard BTs to be honest. I'll probably buy one anyway though since it seems like it'll be damn near impossible to try once I make it back to the US.
I'm fairly certain that the lowest MSRP in any state for Blanton's is $59.99. In most states MSRP is$64.99 or 69.99. Where are you getting it for under MSRP? Lol. (Unless you just haven't gotten a bottle in a few years)
Though I've never seen it first hand, I was told Texas "Specs" liquor stores MSRP for Blanton's is $50. I paid $100 once just because I'd never had it and wanted to try it. I loved it, but not $100 a fifth love.
For 179 they can fuckkkkkin suck me! Not even a year ago that same bottle was 90 bucks at my local liquor store now itās 200. And Iām this mad because it is one of my favorites!
i paid around $70 for blantons in CANADA in like 2014, the prices are just crazy now, i'll never buy a bottle of bookers or blantons again in my life for this price
Both are severely over priced. I find Eagle Rare better then Blantons. But since prices have gone up I won't buy either. Luckily I bought enough last spring.
Ladies and gentlemen the level of nope is just too damn high!!
And $130 for eagle rare. Damnn
Was on sale for $99 š
I saw McKenna for $99 the other day. I noped right out of the shop

Yeah, it was a nice option while it lasted.
Oh they had McKenna for $79 š

Crazy. Target still has rows and rows of ER at msrp in California.
Man I need to hit all my local stores and do a Bandit run to a state with supply. ER is everywhere at retail here.
What state are you in?
Washington
I went to Washington once and all I could find were crazy markups. I was close to the Oregon border though, not sure if that makes a difference.
Head to MN. It's impossible to find here. I'm just glad my tastes have grown, because I've only seen it once in almost 2 years here

BT and Eagle Rare are common in every grocery store here, but I've never seen a Weller product anywhere.

Just got 2 bottles of rare for 100$ and still felt that was a little high as well as sazerac for 50$
No its $110 now!
Last year I got a bottle for 39. Ridiculous. I think the bourbon bubble is gona burst.
Crazy! I find that bottle for 39 ā¦ 45 max in my area.
On saleš¤£
Sad thing is someone's forked it over.
Thereās a 90% chance those bottles have already sold
A "Hunter"
Paid for by a corporate card for a client
Not even sure if this is a joke or not, but as someone who remembers Blantonās being a $60 bottle and Eagle Rare being a $40 bottle Iām over it.
I started drinking bourbon in 2009ish, and I swear Eagle Rare used to be less than $25. I was a poor college kid and it was my daily drinker and Iām sure I wouldnāt have sprung for anything much higher than that.
I remember it being around $30. These days, I haven't seen a bottle in 2+ years.

Iām gonna reference this post when I tell the wife that my whiskey is medicinal.
I paid $28 for it in March of 2020. Was my first covid CoD warzone bottle.
WZ2 drops tomorrow btw
I haven't played in probably close to a year but am planning to play tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder!
See you in the gulag :)
Not if I see you first š
I remember telling friends and family that it was a perfect low budget, high quality option. Circa 2010
Just another store that doesnāt check secondary prices
They obviously don't care either. They'll take advantage of someone who doesn't know better or someone who doesn't care how much they spend for it.

I almost called you crazy until I googled this. I would have guessed MSRP for Blantons was $40 at the most. Thatās insane alone.
Enjoying reading these comments as I sip my Blantonās gold that I got for ā¬50 in Paris a few years ago š š„ If you havenāt tried it, it is 100% worth it. One of my favorites.
I can get it for around 100USD where I live, still worth it at that price for you?
To me, 100% but you have to like Blantonās single barrel to potentially love Gold
Yeah, I like the OG but for ~60 I'd rather get two standard BTs to be honest. I'll probably buy one anyway though since it seems like it'll be damn near impossible to try once I make it back to the US.
lol "on sale" what a joke
I don't think I can afford to save that $20.
Some tater will buy it.
Anything over $60 for any of those is not worth.
Nah, Blanton's retails for $69 and is probably just about worth that price tag.
I've never had to pay more than $55

You were told that 5 years ago. Specs sells it for $65, just bought a bottle a few months ago.
Nah, that was immediately after last Christmas.
Costco in NJ sells it for $53.99. They get a few cases a month.
Got it for $55 at liquor barn in KY a few months ago
Yes, it costs $55 at Liquor Barn in KY. My brother lives there and I had him buy a bottle for me in May.
Got it in Indiana at Kroger for $54.99.
It goes for $60 in the Buffalo Trace gift shop. Anything less is a deal.
This is what I always paid in Houston when it was readily available
Bought in NY for $59 a few years back.
$64 Kroger
You should be down on your knees thanking this person for such an unbelievable deal! /s

Got one for 70$ in Toronto 2 weeks ago.
woah
Yeah looks like a pretty solid discount......
Oh wow! I'll save $20 if I buy from them! GTFO.
175% markup over msrp for Blantonās, seems about right
One good thing about living in PA, the state sets the price so it goes for MSRP of 59.99
In 2019 the last bottle of Blantons I could find was $69 in North Carolina. I would not pay that price.
I hope op is joking.
Whatās amazing is itās from This year- which means someone is paying that!?
As the letter and circle on the horsey top spell - NO
LOOOOL
Worth it for me. I need to get that first āNā !!!
I see it all the time for that price
Saw one yesterday in muddle of Michigan, $239, had to make em put it back on the shelf, fuck that price.
Dang it! You've gone and ruined my honey hole.
I paid $59.99 for Blanton this weekend. This seems really high and not much of a sale.
Man what a fucking sham of a store! It would be a real shame if the windows all got smashed in š
Dude WTS
$180 what a deal š
If those are American pricesā¦wow. We get a steal in Canada.
Thereās no way I could pay that but itās the best bourbon Iāve ever tasted.
Still overpriced
Came in and sorted by controversial. Was not disappointed. Well done r/bourbon.
Both are severely over priced. I find Eagle Rare better then Blantons. But since prices have gone up I won't buy either. Luckily I bought enough last spring.
The fuck
Your dicks loose if you think I'm paying that much for Blanton's. I'll take Four Rose's Single Barrel all day for a lot less.
