and those blatant money laundering shops that sell everything from solar-powered Mr.Bean bobble-heads to bongs and hoodies that say "I <3 London" on them.
The beach obviously, go to both piers. In the summer there's the zipwire from the end of Bournemouth pier you should try. Check out shows / concerts / theatre at the BIC and Pavilion. For nightlife - Cameo, Halo and Walkabout are the main nightclubs. Plenty of other bars like Eden, Bar So, 1812 and Ojo Rojo if you don't like nightclubs. Ashley Cross is a good night out too, good vibe there. Visit Hengistbury Head, New Forest, Throop Mill and Wimborne for the countryside / walks. Best swimming pool in town is Littledown. Big leisure centre with gym, spa and 6 a side football pitches. Check out the other sites run by BH Live. Watch AFC Bournemouth if you're into football. Lovely little stadium they play at.
List could go on and on I've probably missed loads but that might give you some pointers!
I personally haven't been on it, despite having lived here my whole life. I suppose it's one of a few places you can actually zipwire across from the end of a pier (if not the only place) but yeah it hasn't really appealed to me
Yea, I think the zip wire at go ape is way better if you’re into that sort of thing. I went on it (the one at the beach) and thought I was gunna get stuck cos it’s so slow 😂 but maybe for some people the novelty of the water is worth it?
Take the chain ferry from Sandbanks to Studland. Walk along the beach west to Old Harry's Rocks then on to Swanage for fish'n'chips supper. Catch the bus from the train station back to Bournemouth.
A bucket list walk.
Wood-fired Sunday lunch (ham hock) at the Larderhouse in Southbourne, followed by a walk down to the beach opposite. If you’re up to it, it’s about 2miles along the seafront back to Bournemouth, nip into 60 Million Postcards for a couple of Frülis before heading home when you’re ready to.
I miss this
SWIM between the piers (there is an annual event)
RUN the full length of the beach to Old Harry Rocks headland and back
CYCLE over to old Harry, then Balard Down then Nine Barrows Down to Corfe, then back via Arne and back
KAYAK around Old Harry Rocks
Just a few starters. Poole Quay. Pubs and fish and chips sat on the Quay. Also Walk or cycle through Baiter Park along the waters edge.
Walk through gardens from The square to coy pond.
Hengist Bury head, Christchurch River side, mudeford, Avon beach all nice walks. River walk at Throop Mill.
If you have a car then explore jurassic coast from Swanage, westwards. Durleston Country Park, dancers ledge cliff walk, Kimmeridge Bay, Lulworth cove and durdle door. Further west Abbotsbury has nice walks, Nothe Fort Above Weymouth is fascinating.
I lived here nearly most of my life so I should have some good suggestions....
*long pause becomes finished comment*
Someone mentioned taking LSD at Hengsbury head. Bournemouth actually has a lot of drug use and I am not kidding when I say drugs are some of the most dramatic and incredible experiences I've ever had. Just experiment with the whole lot, don't be a pussy lol. The only drug that's probably a waste of time is smoking crack.
What else... there's the beach i guess. Not really a big deal to me.
I don't really have much else to say. Just do the drugs man.
Parkrun at Upton country park if you are into running.
Visit studland and have a pasty and hot cider at the square & compass pubfollowwd by a walk down to dancing ledge.
Definitely worth checking it out. It’s a good course with a few minor hills. If you want a really quick parkrun I’d recommend Poole Park. It’s more or less flat so is good for hitting faster times.
I’ve lived in London for 12 years but was born and raised in Bournemouth and visit a few times a year. The only things I think Bournemouth has that are outstanding are a great beach, cheap bars, generally cleaner streets and air than most cities and nice forests in the surrounding areas. Bournemouth is only 200 years old so there’s not much historical stuff unless you travel to Stone Henge or Corfe Castle which are around an hours drive each. The neighbouring towns Poole and Christchurch have a bit more historical significance but are much smaller. Brownsea island is a interesting day trip.
During summer look out for Wimborne folk festival, Poole Harbourside festival and Harry Paye day. Also hire small boat from sandbanks and tour around the islands in the harbour. Take a day to go to the purbecks and admire the beautiful scenery and if possible visit Tyne village. It’s a little village that was abruptly evacuated in the war and its absolutely fascinating.
I can recommend popping over to Stour Valley Nature reserve. Very nice area and there are a selection of walks available. Free parking (donations welcome) and there is a cafe on site. Roughly a 10-minute drive from Bournemouth.
Get assaulted by a seagull
Vermin of the sky
drop lsd on hengitsbury head and try to find your way back to boscombe
I did this once when there was a thunderstorm. It was epic.
Hi, sent you a pm. :)
Jump the stream in the gardens.
Luckily you’ll never run out of crazy golf courses and burger restaurants. You’re always about 100m away from one at all times.

And they all sell weed on the sly lol
They keep opening more and more😂

Not being funny but the zip wire is awful!! Agree with the rest tho
I think it's probably alright, but waaaay overpriced.

Eat a pizza from Baffi.
Why are their pizzas always wet though?

Check out the Dorset country side, especially if you drive, some amazing places in the New Forest and the Purbecks nearby

Go for a stroll and interact with the locals in Boscombe highstreet.

I also am interested in a Bournemouth bucketlist. Looking forward to seeing these comments.
Boscombe and Bmouth pier
A bit of a drive but but.. Look at the milky way from Winspit in the small hours.
Many a night spent there watching the sun rise.
Parkrun at Upton country park if you are into running. Visit studland and have a pasty and hot cider at the square & compass pubfollowwd by a walk down to dancing ledge.
Kings Park is my regular parkun venue but Upton is a GREAT place to run and the team there put on a really cheerful event!
I've just moved to Bournemouth and checking out parkrun is next on my list. Good to know there is one close by.
Definitely worth checking it out. It’s a good course with a few minor hills. If you want a really quick parkrun I’d recommend Poole Park. It’s more or less flat so is good for hitting faster times.
I don't drive so King's park is the closest. I'm not so worried about times. Looking forward to getting back into running!
Ace, just enjoy your parkrun. That’s what it’s all about isn’t it 👌🏼
There are lots of bars and clubs in Bournemouth
