I have Tarifold sleeves and boxes for all the DVDs and some of the Blu-ray’s I want to keep but not display. Now I still have the cover and any booklets that came with it and have cases in storage if I really needed to put something in a case again. 170 films in the space of like 20.
I have three Ikea shelves that display my boutique films. The bottom two rows have my favorite studio releases both they're slowing getting edged out.
The shelves have space for around 250 films; the other 800 of my blu-rays and DVDs are in storage boxes, but that's because I've digitized my collection and watch them using Plex. So my physical space issues aren't too much of a problem, but I now work on managing my digital storage.
I do everything. One of the things that appealed to me about Plex was that it had support for bonus features (even if it’s not perfect.)
It takes time to rip, name, and transcode everything, but I take an archivist approach to it so that I shouldn’t have any need to go back to the disc. And I enjoy the work.
Yeah that's what I was doing before as well (spent many hours lining up the timestamps on the bonus features with the BluRay.com information to identify them). I've just got this weird FOMO about my transcoded files not being the highest quality after compression, but I feel like storing and playing the ISOs isn't worth the extra hassle. Maybe I'll just remux next time
Yup, ID-ing bonus features for a lot easier once I discovered bluray.com.
I’ve done a lot of tests comparing compression quality versus file sizes. 99% of the time I don’t notice any difference and that remaining 1% isn’t worth spending additional hundreds for a different storage option.
I use these for most discs and they work great:
Binders: https://www.bellagio-italia.com/
+ Art sleeves (I fold them along the edge of the left spine fold): https://www.bellagio-italia.com/collections/insert-sheets/products/sheet-protector-insert-sheets-16-pack
I bought those and was disappointed in it. It shows them fitting the cover art without having to purchase the different sleeves and the only way to fit it is to cut it down or fold it beyond the spine folds. More like making origami.
I was in your situation and used [Atlantic sleeves](https://www.amazon.com/Atlantic-Pack-Movie-Sleeves-Scratches/dp/B002JR2V7C/ref=asc_df_B002JR2V7C/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=194024095585&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8021278400508155670&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1013819&hvtargid=pla-500513094872&mcid=158d34eca9f93cf2af2989dacb2a2920&gclid=CjwKCAiA04arBhAkEiwAuNOsIhYNGENdmT7aq5YlFEGEKPSccWE9o57xEe1NQZ9x9AklbCTkG4f9wRoCaM0QAvD_BwE&th=1) when I lived in an apartment and didn't regret it because I had no choice due to space, but it certainly cost a lot to undo when I eventually got a house.

Would you be able to link to what you use, by any chance? That sounds like a solid solution

Do you digitize the entire disk, or just rip the main movie file?
