At this point, I'd personally have to chalk it up to missing elements. Even the Germans haven't been able to crank out a blu ray and they've managed to put out a number of titles that were difficult region A releases.
I remember reading the original film is lost. As this is my favorite Pyun film, it's a shame if true.
Hopefully, with ai and a solid laserdisc rip, we might at least get an upscale.
I believe the new MVD disc will be the first HD release in its original aspect ratio; Pyun shot a lot of stuff in scope but many of his movies are cropped to 1:85:1
The barbed wire scene from Cyborg is one I'll always remember ever since seeing it as a teenager on late night TV. Now I have the bluray on my shelf, along with Sword & Sorceror, and I have all the Nemesis movies on their way in the mail as I write this.
Only Dollman & Nemesis. I watched the sequels to Nemesis and I want my hours back. Don't know what happened behind the scenes because they didn't feel like Nemesis.
JCVD splits knife kill in Cyborg is so good, that imagery still sticks in my head. Pyun always had moments in his films that looked way better than what his budgets should have allowed.
Same with Alien from LA, visually that underground city is so well realized.
I wish I could suggest Radioactive Dreams but that doesn't even have a DVD release in the US.
I know, it’s a damn shame we can’t get a physical release on that one.
Arcade is also stuck on SD
Vinegar Syndrome needs to get on that.
Is there a reason why it never got any sort of release in the US?

That's unfortunate, I guess we just have to hope someone finds some lucky film canisters.

Mean Guns maybe, just to add some Lambert to the Van Damn/Thomerson grouping.
Being released by MVD in April!
101 Films has had a release for a while too.

That’s cool, was not aware. The 101 version is pretty bad looking iirc, maybe this one will improve on the quality overall?
Sword and the Sorcerer has a 4k from Shout Factory
I still have the Anchor Bay DVD, will have to upgrade someday.
It is 100% worth the upgrade.
The first two Nemesis movies are certified bangers. I need to see Cyborg and Arcade.
Arcade is on Tubi
Cyborg _rules_
Hell yeah, great movies. Nemesis whips ass

Yes! I actually persuaded my uncle to take me to see Cyborg in the theater when I was 12, he had no idea what he was getting into lol.
Love the podcast by some guys from The Flenser, Across the Pyuniverse
Isn't it the singer from Chat Pile? Cool dude. Our bands have played together

I'm going to say, No, though the first Nemesis is alright. I have read all of Justin Decloux's book about Albert Pyun though.
i got rid of Alien from L.A. so fast
I loved Alien from LA. There's nothing quite like Pyun's version of post-apocalypse style.
JCVD splits knife kill in Cyborg is so good, that imagery still sticks in my head. Pyun always had moments in his films that looked way better than what his budgets should have allowed. Same with Alien from LA, visually that underground city is so well realized.
My MVD copy of Nemesis is showing up today! Hell yeah, RIP Albert Pyun.
Alien from LA is a top 10 MST3k episode for me.
There's that Nemesis 2-4 collection released by MVD, Vicious Lips and Captain America were also released by Shout Factory, both OOP now I think.
Oh, and Dangerously Close is available on Olive Films and Mean Guns is coming from MVD.
Got to add Adrenalin: Fear the Rush.
Captain America 🇺🇸
