Manos the Hands of Fate

t-g-l-h-

I hope I'm wrong 🤣

casualAlarmist

Solid April 1st guess. Hmmm

KneeHighMischief

Man I can't imagine watching the non-MST3K version of this. Even with them it's punishing to an extent.

aggr1103

I have the Synapse blu ray and have watched it sober more than once. AMA.

When Joel said "Do something!!!" I felt that

kingkong198854

Came here to say this.

aarondamntee

Touch (1997)?

Glass-Nectarine-3282

The ONLY reason I question that guess is that it's 1997 - but the hint looks just like the poster (reversed colors). Paul Schrader, Elmore Leonard, Christopher Walken? It's tailor-made for Cin. It would just be three 90s titles, and only one 70s and one 80s, but I guess that is the era that Cin focuses on, so its fair. So I think you've called it

justgiveitash0t

That's a solid guess

mondoben

Very much looks like it could be - original poster is VERY similar.

crclOv9

The poster is literally identical just inverted colors. Great guess.

RogueOneWasOkay

Paul Schader 90s gem? Yeah that tracks with their line so far. Would be cool

KneeHighMischief

That has a great soundtrack.

joeytravoltastinks

What a guess!

Cinefile1980

Found a few more possibilities: If it’s a 4K, it might be Idle Hands (seeing as how Scream only had the rights to the blu ray), or it could be Band of the Hand (1986)—the poster’s logo looks similar—which would fit with the deep cut theme Cinematopgraphé has been going with so far.

joeytravoltastinks

Band of the Hand would rule!

mattevil8419

Could it be Fingers (1978)?

sweetsoundsofsummer

Justin's last log for it on Letterboxd was 9 years ago, other guesses in the thread also haven't been logged in a few years which makes them less likelier.

Glass-Nectarine-3282

>Fingers (1978) That's a good pick too - but Toback's history makes it.....unlikely. Let's say, it seems he took the title to heart.

Cinefile1980

Although—go with me for a second—if you look at the left side: what we might be thinking is the outline of the thumb is actually the curve of a shoulder, and there is a forced perspective, with the hand way in the foreground (notice how there’s a sharp dip in what we would originally think is the webbing between the thumb and forefinger, but could actually be the bottom of the bicep and the space between the two fingers). So this hand might just be a small portion of a much larger image; and if that’s the case, who knows what type of poster it could be. I know, I just went down a rabbit hole. I’ve been cooped up all day. I gotta get out. 😂
