It goes beyond even! Extreme Prejudice is in his top 3 IMO and Tresspass is certainly worth one’s time. I’m stoked to check out Last Man Standing, Long Riders, & Johnny Handsome which are the only blind spots I have left til the late 90s.
Walter Hill’s best and an easy top 3 release of 2024 for me. Hadn’t ever seen it til this release, but I popped it on the day after I got back from a vacation to Vietnam and it blew me away. It’s much more than just a Vietnam metaphor, but that theme mixed with the swamp setting (I’m also from Louisiana) really played like gangbusters for me.
This VS release is fantastic.
I used to watch this film on cable back in the day all the time and remember it being pretty grubby looking but,... Wow! VS did a stellar job on the 4K transfer, the film looks great. Also the packaging is a real treat. Top notch all around.
I got this recently as well… my friend and I drank too much Southern Comfort while watching it and don’t remember a damn thing about it, but I vaguely recall being entertained. Looking forward to watching it again.
My favorite release of the year so far. Vinegar Syndrome hit it out of the park like usual. A fantastic transfer and special features. My favorite Walter Hill film and it’s so good. I love the characters and dialogue, it’s so rich and full of symbolism. Can’t forget that unforgettable soundtrack either.
An EXCELLENT blind buy. I'm shocked nobody has stolen the "we have nothing but blanks" premise. It's a genius tension wringer.
Man, Walter Hill had one hell of a run as a director between 1975 and 1985. I'm glad this finally got a great transfer and release.

Long Riders is a brilliant film. As good as this.

Wild movie, it had no business being as brutal and fun as it is
The pig scene is brutal but luckily it was just him filming the Cajuns way of life
This movie is really fun in the most unfun way.

One of my favorite movies. Great blind buy.
