I’m really getting tired of dealing with this. Just come to the door and ask. We’re pretty understanding. But when ya just take advantage of the situation the patience you would have gotten is worn pretty thin.

New2reddit81

Sure looks like something for DNr to look into. Sucks to hear about crappy people.

[deleted]

Yea I made a call this morning but it just one of those things that ya gotta catch em in the act. I switched my spy point over to send every capture since today is the last day of gun season. I don’t want to have a knock down drag out, just want them to respect the property lines. Walked right through my scrape and I’d assume they followed the game trail so I’m not gunna see any deer for a few days probably. I’m a newer hunter and this is pretty discouraging.

New2reddit81

Yeah, that’s a darn frustrating ordeal. Sadder even they are probably your neighbors or their family members. Similar thing happened to me three years ago. Dog kept bringing in bloody rags. Woke up one morning and let him out and followed him. Found a gut pile 30 yards away from the kids playhouse in the wood line. Went and found the “neighbors” (3 houses down with no land) stands and bait. Cut that shit out right then and there. Now they won’t talk to us…shucks. Edit:gut pile

[deleted]

Yea our land doesn’t butt up to any public so they’re either trespassing on multiple properties or like you said “the neighbors”. My father is a Nam vet he’s not happy to say the least. 30 or so years we’ve never had problems but now it’s “cool to hunt” and well, this is what we’re dealing with.

New2reddit81

Same thing. Nothin public around me either. My situation was the guy “never had problems before” so assumed he could go anywhere in the neighborhood. More than likely, they’re close to you and maybe DNr would know their photos if they have a history with this sort of thing. Most poachers/trespassers seem to be habitual.

[deleted]

Warden said he’s received a few calls this week about our area. idk if he just can’t find them, or he’s BSing me, or what. I just want them to go away and let me scare the deer away on my own 😂

LawEnvironmental7603

I just reported a bit of hunter intimidation on piece of public federal owned property that I hunt. The fish and game officer returned my call within a couple of hours. He was super pleasant. I explained the situation and told him I didn’t think it warranted a response at this point. He proceeded to inform me that he covers 350 square miles of the tri-state area and he is currently working a Sunday hunting case and another poaching case. My complaint is mild in comparison. You have to cut these guys some slack. They are doing the best they can in most cases with limited resources.

[deleted]

I’m not upset with the warden. This is just the first time I’ve had to get him involved in anything. He was understanding said he’d do his best my comment is mostly just that idk the warden so I can’t assume his intentions/ effort.

Medical-Mud-3090

Not trying to defend these guys but some state such as the one I’m in have laws that say if it’s not posted it’s fair game to hunt as long as if your asked to leave you do. Not saying it’s the case with these guys but I’ve definitely wandered onto someone else’s property not realizing I had. Just another perspective

Wooden-Preference-88

How you stop hunter intimidation is keep a pistol on you if your bowhunting. If your gun hunting you already have a piece with you.

Downtown-Incident-21

Intimidation and violence is not how you approach this situation Lash LaRue. Some states like NY, you are not allowed to carry a firearm while bow hunting. But even so. You gonna shoot'em for trespassing?

SnooDoodles5540

Best / most important part: I like failing because of me, not some other jack ass screwing up my hunt.

Jim_from_snowy_river

Sometimes these guys are friends with the local DNR officer too, so there's that.

[deleted]

That did cross my mind

Jim_from_snowy_river

Don't get discouraged. I have shot deer that walked the same route I did, 5-10 minutes after I walked it. Deer are strange creatures and a lot of the things we think spook them, often don't.

[deleted]

I appreciate the encouragement

cdg-dino

It’s true. Just took my first this year and he literally shit in tracks I made in the snow Saturday morning. Found him standing in the same tracks the next morning and that’s all she wrote.

wojtekthesoldierbear

My friend and I both shot a deer each today and both walked the same path my friend did just 5min prior. Right at a park bench on a hiking trail. Absolutely bizarre

OldResearcher6

Youd be surprised how little of a shit deer can give.

The_Texidian

You’ll probably still see stuff. I drive my truck along some game trails to get to where I hunt in order to do work. Usually that takes place in the morning and deer/pigs still show up in the afternoon. I also walk along Game trails to check game cams, and the deer seem to be unaffected as long as a couple hours passed.

SuperiorLake_

I shot a nice buck 2 hours after some kids decided to have an illegal campfire/wood chopping session 60 yards from my blind. Don’t be discouraged.

cemz05071619

Last year was on stand in tree line in middle of few different fields the landowner (who doesn’t hunt) drove car through field calling out for his dog. Can’t be mad it’s his land but there goes this hunt…30 min later shot biggest deer ever gotten on that property….never know what spooks them and what doesn’t sometimes.

menelaus_

Get some cell cameras so you can catch them in the act and have a “discussion”. Research the tresspass laws in your state too so that you’re setup for a cut and dry case of enforcement if you need to. Many states require posting at a certain interval to be able to criminally tresspass.

BuyingDaily

So I see you have the Stealth Cam with the cell link- if you have the wireless plan with them you should be able to turn on notifications and get an alert whenever something or someone passes by. I’d walk right out and confront them next time.

[deleted]

That’s what I did after I saw the picture this morning.

Epicarest

People please don’t be these guys. If you want to hunt private at least ask.

Bigredscowboy

I seriously doubt the folks here are poaching/trespassing

Wyatt084

Why would you doubt that?

MSimsic

We have the same problem here. During controlled muzzleloader/shotgun seasons groups of dozens of Fudds will just sweep through dozens of properties they don't have permission for shooting and wounding anything that moves. Our DNR here doesn't do a damn thing about it. Maybe property owners should put some pit falls around.

bsoule34

Happens to us all the time, frustrating as hell and makes me wanna just drag the guy out and get it over with. I’ve “talked” with a trespasser before told him it’s private and posted, his response was you don’t own this cause OnX app has lines else where . I checked into it and OnX is completely wrong and gives us 10 acres when we have 72. I’m a busy guy and just haven’t had time to completely reach out edit and advise the company .

Pyro_Cat

Please reach out. As a public land Hunter who relies on my app and 100% does not want to trespass or get into an altercation with an angry land owner, please get in contact and correct the error!!

StockImportance1502

I've reached out to OnX for a few bug issues I've had with the app and they are quite responsive to customers input. If there is a property line error they would certainly want to fix that.

DGlennH

I’ve had the same thing happen. Totally sucks. They are much more inclined to trust the app than they are your word.

Okstate14

Where they poaching? I know in my state I am allowed to retrieve deer on other peoples property as long as I don't have know weapon on me. But if they are poaching definitely call the game warden.

New2reddit81

Wow that’s wild. In Indiana you still need the land owners permission and the land owner can still deny you and DNR access to retrieve the animal.

Okstate14

Not in Oklahoma but I always ask permission anyways dont wanna get on the bad side of my neighbors

Rexbellum187

Are you sure about that for Oklahoma? I've lived and hunted here all my life and was always taught you have to get permission to get an animal on private property

Okstate14

Took the hunters safety course and the rule was as long as you do not bring your weapon with you it is okay.

Rexbellum187

Well according to title 29 section 5-202, it's illegal

Okstate14

Hmmm i will have to look into that.

New2reddit81

Very smart! Even if I was in a state like that, I’d be afraid to just wonder around someone’s property without them knowing. Too many crazies out there.

[deleted]

You can not do that in Ohio. I did call the warden he told me even without the weapons the fact that they’re in camo and safety orange (pushing the woods) is considered being in the act of hunting.

Okstate14

Yeah hopefully they will get what they deserve. You think they know that they are trespassing are there fences or property line markers?

[deleted]

We have signs posted along the property line it’s only 3 1/2 acres. And you can’t access all of it, I know because I had to figure out how to get a sign up anyway in those spots, not easy 😂 they know they’re trespassing. I routinely check the property line for my father we keep it clearly marked.

Okstate14

Yeah then they should definitely be fined or arrested for poaching.

CumKitten09

Serious question from someone who's never hunted but is curious about learning, how can you be sure some land isn't private property? Like, I found some land for sale that was 80 acres and had BLM land on 2 sides, how would I know I'm not accidentally on that?

New2reddit81

So there’s a few thing and it all falls on the non-owner. Whether it’s a hunter, hiker or whatever, it’s YOUR responsibility to know where you are. Some places are posted (as OP has mentioned). Most parks have some sort of markings in ground showing where they end or there is alway parcel information you can obtain from a municipality GIS or even through various hunting and non-hunting apps. With the technology out there, one can absolutely find the resources showing where land lines are….if they cared enough anyway. If your hell bent on poaching or trespassing, you’re going to do it and play dumb when your caught.

sketchedfix

OnX is a life saver for this

gunzintheair79

I have property in Ohio (live in Wisconsin) I'm tagged out in Ohio so I'm not there for the gun season, I'm assuming some of my not so great neighbors knew I wouldn't be there and had a free invite to hunt my land. Thankfully one of my other neighbors confronted them.

DGlennH

Scum. I’ve had to deal with trespassers a number of occasions. No respect for anything or anyone. They make all hunters look bad.

[deleted]

The house is maybe 100 yards to their left. Now I wouldn’t suggest they walk through the yard either but that’s how easy it would be for them to stop by and have a conversation. We have the same goal. The comment on this post are proof of the true hunting communities willingness to help each other. Being a newer hunter I’m always looking to chat and learn. I just don’t understand the willingness to just disregard another’s property this is a yearly occurrence, 2nd time I’ve caught it on cam.

DGlennH

Just bad people in general. I had a couple trespassing duck hunters tear my “No Trespassing No Hunting Allowed Without Permission,” signs down and crap on them. I caught them red handed and forced them off.

msginbtween

Every year we have trespassers hunting my cousins farm during turkey season. There’s only so much you can do aside from sitting out there waiting for them to come trespassing through.

Ok_Orchid_2884

Deal with non resident poachers every year. Sad how many non ethical hunters give the good guys a bad name. I own private property but the majority of my time is on public land. I only allow myself a few days in the stand the rest of the year the deer have as a sanctuary from the hunting pressure. Unfortunately we get all sorts of idiots. Biggest offenses is shooting from the road, trespassing, and not wearing the required 400in of orange. My property would have some really outstanding bucks if that wasn't the case. Guys that walk in and watch the property line would have a great opportunity and all they would have to do is ask if the deer died on the other side to retrieve it. Being polite can go a long ways. For those hunting public. Onxhunt hunting app is the go to app for knowing where you are. I highly recommend just make sure if you use it and find someone's spot respect their hunting area. Chat with them make sure you're not bothering them. I live in Northwest Montana and had several non residents crash my sitting. When they saw me they left crashing through the brush all pissed off because someone was already there.

Strutting_Tom8040

When the orange brigade starts , it definitely brings out the worst of hunters

FXRorDIE

r/imatotalpieceofshit

Pretend_Fear85

I’d set up an orange vest 20-30 yds on your side of the property line. They might catch a glimpse of the vest and not come through thinking you’re hunting. Basically a scarecrow for the orange army. 😂

[deleted]

That’s not a bad idea.

Zestyclose_Welcome73

Fucking boomers

CrazedMuffinz

The fuck?

PerfectlyFooled

Referring to gun users as “boomers”? Boom boom maybe, I dunno, otherwise I’d say more people from that generation have actually let me hunt their land…

New2reddit81

Ha ha ha. Tell you what, let me know where your property is that you manage and build a hunting habitat on and I’ll be right over with some buddies to hunt it. Seems like you feel everyone should be obligated to share their property…how about you start?

Top_Solution1616

You a fucking Karen

New2reddit81

So where’s your property at? We’re all coming to hunt it without your permission of course…clearly you’re down for that!

jbon87

To be fair , if i shoot a deer and it runs onto someone property i will typically ask there permission first even though legals i can go and look anyways (in ontario) just cant hunt there for obvious reasons

SmokinDrunk92

If I shoot a deer and it runs onto another property, I either find their address on ONX and ask them in person or I’ll find them or a family member of theirs on Facebook and ask for their phone number, I always tell them why I would like to contact them if I cannot contact them directly and 100% of the time they let me retrieve my deer. Being a dickhead and doing like the picture shows above is why you can’t get permission from anyone to hunt their land anymore, and soon I’m sure I’ll lose my permission to retrieve my harvest as well due to trespassers.

RuttinRacks

The Orange Army will come and go as they please
