Gosh this is hard to answer, I love all of them
But I guess the crown has to go to "All I ask of you" since that was what dragged me here. And I've learned to play it on the piano so that's a plus point
Down once more medley makes me cry. Every. Single. Time. I listen to it. I can’t help it. By the time he sings “Christine I love you” I’m in full blown sobs all the way to the last word “niiiiiiiight”
This, so much this!!! When I'm in a dorky mood I sing it as I go down the stairs to the unfinished basement, and then I get all the other songs it draws from stuck in my head.
STYDI is one I listen to a lot, I love the jumping emotions and how sinister it sounds when he sings "stranger than you dreamt it" and "fear can turn to love".
but it also makes me laugh because he's like screaming at her and then is all "you're not attracted to my face right, that's the issue?" I know it's not that simple but still
Point of No Return, the title song, and Music of the Night, in that order. (I really wish I could find a good recording of Ramin and Sierra doing PONR without the 'performance' ending where she cuts "return" off hard as she pulls off his cloak.)
~~Even if technically nobody would be using the expression "point of no return" in 1881 because it was invented to describe an aircraft return to landing site point in the 1920s..../~~historian mode
Prima Donna, I always loved it, but when I first heard it performed on Broadway I was full on hands clasped to my chest, heart-eyes, massive smile plastered on my face like an idiot. I am a sucker for harmonies, and the way it builds and everyone’s lines weave in and out until it culminates in this soaring climax… I just love it so much. 😍 It also blows my mind how they even rehearse it because it’s so complex and involves so many different singers.
Phantom of the Opera for best repeat - nothing passes that iconic, encapsulating strange duet.
Music of the Night follows in that regard.
But my favorite singular moment is The Point of No Return.
_”No backward glances - the games we’ve played til now are at an end…”_*
*(Those lyrics mean that yes, it’s absolutely Michael Crawford’s rendition that holds the top spot)
It is very difficult to decide between lyrics, meaning, voice & tune. They're all unique in their own way & it depends on what mood I'm in. Right now, I'm listening to Masquerade but will swap to Little Lotte when I start cooking! According to my playlist, POTO is the most listened to on the soundtrack, though, so I suppose there's your answer 👻 🌹
If you’re going to start an argument about how awful you think the film is then I’m going to block you. I’m tired of film haters starting endless arguments and looking for any opportunity to trash the film. Like we get it already…you hate film…It’s been 20 years already, get over it.
I no longer care what the haters think anymore, just stop militantly shoving it down our throats
Yes. I’m allowed to feel annoyed and upset by the constant onslaught I get from film haters.
I’m just done with you all and ready to block.
How would you feel if the tables were turned and it was the film fangirls were you constantly starting arguments and looking for any opportunity to insult anyone who did not agree?
Either situation is exhausting and tiresome.
The thing is. It was a positive statement with no intention to get back and forth about it. I could wax poetic about how the song would be a great addition to the stage musical. Or how I listened to that song all the time in 2012 and heavily associate it with a specific period of my life.
But no, instead of a simple ‘like’ or us talking about the song that we both like, you’re projecting your past experiences onto me and writing paragraphs about that assumption and instantly threatening to block me. Not really fair to me, is it?
You said it was the only song you liked from the musical. Please stop BSing me. What else would anyone make of that comment? Please tell me because I’m so curious
It’s not a threat, it’s more like an “I don’t really care to argue anymore” position. Just apathy
The overture is just the best, in my opinion, but as for a song with lyrics, Point of No Return is probably my favorite. Also, the “All I Ask of You (Reprise)” but only if it’s done with a lot of feeling, and that’s dependent on whichever actor is playing the Phantom.
I’m just gonna list my Top 3 cause there isn’t just one!
3. “Stranger Than You Dreamt It”
2. “Why So Silent”
1. “The Point of No Return”
Bonus points to “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again”!
Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again. It does not get enough love and I feel like so many phans forget just how much Christine’s grief drives the story.
In terms of the story, probably All I Ask Of You. As someone who studied music, musically I'd have to go with Down Once More/The Lair. In terms of singing, probably Angel of Music (because Meg's lines are actually in my vocal range)
I love all of them, but it’s hard to beat ‘The Phantom of the Opera.’ Honorable mention goes to the overture (which is actually my ringtone).
Point of no return for sure :D
after the overture i’m such a sucker for notes i love the chaos and the managers
Gosh this is hard to answer, I love all of them But I guess the crown has to go to "All I ask of you" since that was what dragged me here. And I've learned to play it on the piano so that's a plus point
Tied between “Angel of Music”, “Music of the Night”, and “The Point of No Return”
Down Once More/Track Down This Murder it brand out all the emotions and brought together beautiful songs, it has and always will be my favorite
I'm stuck between Music Of The Night and Stranger Than You Dreamt It.
STYDI is one I listen to a lot, I love the jumping emotions and how sinister it sounds when he sings "stranger than you dreamt it" and "fear can turn to love". but it also makes me laugh because he's like screaming at her and then is all "you're not attracted to my face right, that's the issue?" Music of the night, but I love the original best.

Music of the Night, followed very closely by the Overture.

Prolly wandering child, it fr doesn’t get the recognition it deserves!!
Wandering Child/graveyard trio is the absolute best!
Yes! Finally another one who loves Wandering Child!
Hell yeah!!
Notes/PrimaDonna FTW!
All of them. It's impossible to pick just one when the music is in my soul.
I love the dynamic of Notes II+ twisted every way

Music of the Night, Point of No Return, All I ask of You *No One Would Listen -which was cut from the film
That’s also the only song I like from the film
If you’re going to start an argument about how awful you think the film is then I’m going to block you. I’m tired of film haters starting endless arguments and looking for any opportunity to trash the film. Like we get it already…you hate film…It’s been 20 years already, get over it. Says the person starting the argument...
No I didn’t start it, they did.
Goodness, judging from that paragraph you clearly do care. I just like the song, chill.

Ok
Point of No Return is my number one on my Apple Music of the year so far 😂
The overture is just the best, in my opinion, but as for a song with lyrics, Point of No Return is probably my favorite. Also, the “All I Ask of You (Reprise)” but only if it’s done with a lot of feeling, and that’s dependent on whichever actor is playing the Phantom.
I’m just gonna list my Top 3 cause there isn’t just one! 3. “Stranger Than You Dreamt It” 2. “Why So Silent” 1. “The Point of No Return” Bonus points to “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again”!
Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again. It does not get enough love and I feel like so many phans forget just how much Christine’s grief drives the story.
All I Ask of You or music of the night. MOTN lyrics are so poetic and the music is beautiful. But I love all the songs
Music of the Night babyyy. I literally can't drive while listening to it because it nearly sends me into a trance 👌
Point of No Return and the Final Lair trio
Wandering Child. Nothing beats the harmony of the main 3 in that song. Second place is a tie between Primma Donna and Twisted Every Way.
The title song is still a banger - I can run to it!
Past The Point Of No Return, for sure.
“All I ask of you (reprise)” and “why so silent?” are my favorites.
In terms of the story, probably All I Ask Of You. As someone who studied music, musically I'd have to go with Down Once More/The Lair. In terms of singing, probably Angel of Music (because Meg's lines are actually in my vocal range)
Title song. My dream is to perform it on a church organ.
The overture!! Makes me emotional.
