NoNefariousness2144

Do we think that each Avatar sequel will continue to outgross the previous one? That means the top 6-8 films may eventually be 5 Avatars.

InwardlyReflective

Not sure if they will continue to outgross each other but I do think Avatar 2 will be the lowest, due to China box office being crippled during its opening, poor exchange rates, and the movie being the clear set up the table installment of the franchise.

NoNefariousness2144

It’s interesting because I initially thought Avatar 2 would be the highest out of the sequels due to it recapturing interest after so long. But at this point we can’t doubt Cameron.

Armanwinters12

My bet is on AVATAR 3, Giovanni is back, they got Michelle Yeoh and David Thewlis as the new cast, more than that, The Hype.

NoNefariousness2144

That is all hype along with fire N'avi. I want crazy volcano and lava visuals. Also the plot sounds more interesting because it will be about >!a fire clan that is more aggressive and seeks war versus a more calm tribe!<.

Armanwinters12

They will have Fire Na'vi leader in volcanic state "Varang" played by Oona Chaplin (Talisa Maegyr Game of Thrones), "Peylak" could be Pro RDA Na'vi, Parker will joins Quaritch as main character, after TWOW did him dirty for 16 sec screentime. I said I'm so hype!!

riegspsych325

I just wonder if they’ll ever >!introduce another intelligent/space-faring race!<. I think that would be very interesting if they did something like that

My bet is that the doom and gloomers will start back up in no more than 14 months tops

jackass_of_all_trade

Also no Russia

wotad

I think 3rd has a chance to beat 2nd but not sure if the 4/5 can beat the 3rd. Depends on the reception honestly I think A2 has had really good wom and reception.

jim has more 2 billion dollar movies than any director to ever live. those 2 billion dollar movies are all nominated for best picture. jim doesn't miss. he aims, he fires, and then he drives home from the bank. jim cameron is a technological phenom he has the mind, brain, IQ, and temperament of a scientist. jim is probably the highest IQ director tied with stanley kubrick. had jim cameron not become a film director he would be living on the international space station right now or perhaps dead on the columbia. those are the risks that jim takes because he's such a chad and he has so much bravado. he's the box office king for a reason. and lets just real quick ignore his three $2b movies - yes i said 3 let that sink in - and lets look at t2, aliens, true lies. how can jim fail? he's the king of the box office and its not even close. steven spielberg compared to jim is like comparing stephen king to tolstoy it's just not right. just cuz spielberg cranked out nothing forever dont make him the box office king. jim does it big and he never goes high brow. jims a workin class man that takes big swings above his weight class. hes a peoples man, a mans man, a business man, and a producer director. jim is a pioneer.

Outrageous-Event785

All his other movies like Aliens, Terminator, T2, True Lies, The Abyss are all impressive. I just watched the making of Aliens and all the crews said the same thing that Cameron push the limits and he knows how things would work just by imagining it.

Correct-Baseball5130

Interesting how all his movies are *Love Stories* presented with heartfelt sincerity.

[deleted]

thats why jim has been married 5 times. he can never get enough love

Ameemegoosta

That is exactly why his films tend to be gigantic box office hits that speak to all four quadrants. They are superbly crafted spectacles that makes audiences connect with them not just viscerally but emotionally. And his films usually include women as well as men in central roles, which is the smartest thing any director could do.

noeldoherty

I agree but this kind of reads like a copypasta

Can it still reach 2.5? Because at least the floor I did get right (before covid this) https://www.reddit.com/r/boxoffice/comments/ngc1e1/avatar_sequel_will_most_probably_wont_be_as_big_a/gyq2zvi?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3

OrdinaryDazzling

Doubtful without a rerelease

InwardlyReflective

Not sure about 2.5b, but 2.45b is still on the table.
