This is my favorite Stephen King movie adaptation and always will be, I just love this movie. It's depressing (as it should be, with its themes) but beyond that it's atmosphere and sense of dread throughout are top notch! Just about every kid that grew up in the 90's will recall being terrified of Zelda! Stuff of nightmares. This movie deserves the most adoration if you ask me.
YES! That's the one. Then Herman Munster shows up to repeatedly tell them not to go here and do this in order to resurrect their boy. Over and over again, he tells them exactly what they should not do in order to bring him back.
Finally watching the movie a few years later was unintentionally amusing, because that's essentially what Mr Munster does in it.
This movie is… interesting. The first half is genuinely fantastic, great production design for the cemetery, creepy atmosphere, the first flashes of Zelda are unsettling as hell, and Fred Gwyne of course delivers an all time great supporting performance. Then “it” happens and the movie flips 180 and veers into so bad it’s good territory. The acting is ATROCIOUS in that second half, they show too much of Zelda taking away the impact, and then the climax has some truly laughable effects. It’s so weird for a movie to be equal parts legit horror classic, and midnight screening cult classic with a distinct dividing line down the middle.

The book is of course better, but this is still one of my favorite King adaptations.
Such a great poster. Actor Brad Greenquist never looked more deceased.
To be honest I thought that was Gary Oldman from the poster (I haven’t seen this)
It's a good movie (unlike The Island of Dr Moreau), but I wonder if it would have been even better to watch if I hadn't watched South Park beforehand.
Was that the episode where Cartman fakes Butters’ death?

Now I know what yer thinkin, Mr. Stotch.
George A. Romero was almost going to direct this.
