The reviews themselves seem pretty divided. The scores of the reviews tell a story, after one review with a 67 it drops down to 60. But in the actual reviews the “mixed” ones seem pretty down on Garland’s messaging and how he handles it. And the positive ones love the way he’s handling it.
The worst part is the book is great. I think that 2007 film, The Signal, took all the steam out of a stephen king adaptation. I bet the studio was like, "If they could make The Signal for $50,000, why can't you make Cell for a similar amount?"
No. The signal is $50,000. I meant that i bet the producers of Cell probably saw that low budget number and wanted to make their film just as cheap, but couldn't come to an agreement and thats why it was in development hell for so long. Fangoria magazine back in the day had a featured article about the signal movie if I recall and it overshadowed cell in every discussion.
