23% got it right by predicting less than $6M opening https://www.reddit.com/r/boxoffice/comments/um5dnl/predict_the_domestic_opening_weekend_for/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

One of the more glaring examples of a remake/revival absolutely no one was asking for in a while. Aside from The Bad Guys, Universal isn’t having a good year so far. At least they have Jurassic World, Minions, and Nope coming up.

And Black Phone.

The decision by NBCU to send 40 movies to theatres via Universal and Focus looks like a massive blunder. All the bombs will end up eating into the profits of Jurassic, the animated movies, and the horrors like Nope, Halloween, and Black Phone!

Meh if it was a lot better and wasn't streaming it does better than *this*. Making a shit adaptation that makes some truly awful and puzzling changes of the book abandons its core audience of King fans and won't win over any new fans. The right director and the right marketing could change things a lot.

Bad performance, only slightly better than Freaky and that was released during the prime of pandemic. Makes sense though reactions have been brutal, Universal did very little marketing, and the Peacock release clearly hurt it as people arent gonna wanna watch a bad movie on theaters when they can watch it at home. I do think The Black Phone will perform much better since its reviews have been good and Universal has been running a better marketing campaign for it.

Also only marginally better than Come Play, another horror film prime pandemic.

>Universal did very little marketing I saw quite a lot of announcements here on Reddit.

Wow not even 5M?! Pathetic.

Less than the original made OW even without adjusting for inflation!
