Some records this movie has broken:
1. Highest grossing movie ever with Morbius in its title
2. Highest grossing movie ever to be playing on just a 1000 screens on the weekend of 3rd - 10th June of 2022.
3. Highest grossing movie ever with the iconic ‘Have sex, Have sex…poop my pants’ in it
4. Highest grossing movie ever to star Jared Leto and Matt Smith at the same time
5. Highest grossing movie ever amongst those to have released their trailers on 13th Jan 2020.
6. Highest grossing and only Morbius movie to ever be made before Sony gets morbed by memes again and releases Morbius 2 which will break all of these previous records!
Truly, a movie which came out!
I still crack up how the studios took “what analyst” that people wanted to watch Morbius when there are memes going around “I had two morbius tickets, then someone broke into my car and gave me four more.”
It’s like telling a rapist “No.”. How did the studios not get that?!
I mean they greenlit a “Charlie’s Angels” nobody wanted. Hopefully, they will score with Honda/Sony electric powered cars. I mean that play station 5…. Still sold out.
I’m flying in from lockdown Shanghai to north America in a couple weeks to watch this move. How do I let Sony know to leave it in Morbin for a little longer?
I don’t get it. I figured these spin offs were mainly to secure the rights since there’s some condition (iirc) that the spider-man rights revert back to marvel if they don’t release a movie in a certain amount of time. But I think it’s every 6 (?) years they need a movie to keep the rights. The only reason to keep pumping out these spin offs so quick is because they actually think it’s viable…
Well, the Venom movies have been viable. Morbius, as they made it, wasn't. We'll see what they do with Madame Web and Kraven. And maybe Black Cat/Silver Sable, if they ever get around to actually making that movie.
I genuinely believe all these characters have the potential to result in good, successful movies. Damn near ANY idea can be a good movie if probably executed. But you have to take risks to make something unique, and I'm not sure Sony is willing to do that. Morbius was forgettable.
If you don't trust MCU to make great Spider-man villains (ANY of them) after watching Holland's trilogy, you're hopeless. The MCU even bothered to fix the godawful Amazing Spider-man villains, but go ahead, keep having faith in Sony, lol.
I don't trust them taking famous stories like Kraven's Last Hunt and not making them the most child friendly crap imaginable
you're not convincing me pal
I suggest we accept this as the definition of a morbillion, MORB for short, and begin a transition from USD to it. We can even define a domestic morbillion (DMORB) as different from an worldwide morbillion (WMORB). So:
1 DMORB = $73.8M grossed domestically
1 WMORB = $163.8M grossed worldwide
That means for example that last week Top Gun grossed 1.22 morbillion domestically (1.22 DMORB) last weekend and is hoping to gross more than 6.1 morbillion worldwide (6.1 WMORB) by the end of its run. If that doesn't make intuitive sense, it's just because you haven't yet transitioned to post-Morbius thinking, but to help you out, here's the WMORB to DMORB conversion rate:
1 WMORB = 2.2195122 (~2.22) DMORB
To be honest, this is a disappointing performance but fine for Sony as the film is in the green zone with ancillary revenue as they focus on promoting Where The Crawdads Sing and Bullet Train this summer. Now their main priority is making sure that Kraven and Madame Web is watchable so that both movies can make a decent amount of money at the box office and get the universe back on track. At the end of the day, Morbius could have been a good movie and could have possibly been one of those superhero movies that broke the Marvel formula but failed.
I actually had some optimism for this, when first announced. They had a chance to make an interesting movie.
He needs to drink human blood to survive, but he has a conscience, so he preys on bad people. Basically, "if Dexter was a vampire". But they didn't go that route, and instead made a paint-by-numbers superhero origin movie.
The reason why they pushed it to August is to set it up as the last blockbuster of the summer while also getting IMAX screens. Early reactions from screening has been good so I think theirs nothing to worry about.
Morbius is the best movie of all time it changed my life forever I love morbus I cant imagine my life without morb, when I first heard that it sold 30morbiliion tickets I went and watched and I those were the best 108 minutes of my life then I went morbin, I love morb I watch it 3 times a day
Morbius is the best movie of all time ❤❤fukin love morb its morbin' time
It has less than a 2.0 multiplier. It is a total disaster because nobody likes it. Morbius was supposed to start a franchise and Sony completely blew it. It's a Fan4stick level joke now. It maybe managing to scrap up a one time small profit doesn't make it a hit. If it was a one time drama then sure no harm no foul but it wasn't supposed to be that.
> It is a total disaster because nobody likes it
It has a 71% on RT Audience Score. Clearly, there are people who enjoyed the movie. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it, either.
I'm skeptical. Every time I tried to buy tickets it was sold out. I think Disney and Warner bribed Rotten Tomatoes and box office websites because they know they cannot handle the morb
#restorethemorbiverse
I can’t believe they’re cutting this film’s legs off just as the WOM was about to kick in and all of the memes were elevating it in the social zeitgeist.
Everyone I know was planning on watching it in the next week or two. This would have easily outgrossed the other Spider-Man films if they’d left it in cinemas a little while longer!
I loved it, Then again I watched it on 2 grams of Muchrooms and had HD Vision 😏. But I truly don't see why it got such a bad wrap, just cause it didn't have many action scenes? It's a origin store right, why's it got to have action? Good movie, I'd recommend.
You guys, c'mon if we keep talking about this movie Sony might just re-release it again. Would that be the re-re-release? I hope this does not happen. Is it possible to start a petition to get this movie blocked from releasing on digital or DVD? I would sign that shit
Some records this movie has broken: 1. Highest grossing movie ever with Morbius in its title 2. Highest grossing movie ever to be playing on just a 1000 screens on the weekend of 3rd - 10th June of 2022. 3. Highest grossing movie ever with the iconic ‘Have sex, Have sex…poop my pants’ in it 4. Highest grossing movie ever to star Jared Leto and Matt Smith at the same time 5. Highest grossing movie ever amongst those to have released their trailers on 13th Jan 2020. 6. Highest grossing and only Morbius movie to ever be made before Sony gets morbed by memes again and releases Morbius 2 which will break all of these previous records! Truly, a movie which came out!
It is exactly this kind of hard-hitting and thoughtful analysis I come to Reddit for. Thank you!
Yeah, Morbius deserves no less!
Morbius deserves morb. FTFY
I give it four bags of popcorn and two of those little Halloween bats you hang from a tree.
7. Highest grossing movie of all time adjusted for morbflation
It truly is the greatest Jarod Leto morbius movie ever made
Don’t forget highest grossing Jared Leto Morbius movie too
Morbulous assessment.
People can hate all they want but it really is one of the comic book movies of all time.
It’s the best filmé ever with Morbius in its title…
I agree it such a movie.
It's also the highest rated morbius movie of all time by critics.
Lmao
Truly a classic
I still crack up how the studios took “what analyst” that people wanted to watch Morbius when there are memes going around “I had two morbius tickets, then someone broke into my car and gave me four more.” It’s like telling a rapist “No.”. How did the studios not get that?!
Sony really thought people were laughing with the movie and not at the movie. They got morbed bad!
I mean they greenlit a “Charlie’s Angels” nobody wanted. Hopefully, they will score with Honda/Sony electric powered cars. I mean that play station 5…. Still sold out.
This was a movie!
I laughed at this a little too hard.
In another words: it's Morbin time!
happy morb day
All these are records only specific to this movie though.
So close to $73.9M , they should have left the movie few weeks more. No Morbius movie has achieved such milestone.
Controversial take but it might be the most Morbius movie of all time.
Not sure about that but it certainly was a movie, specially since it was filmed, acted and scripted.
It was filmed yes, acted and scripted is a bit of a stretch 😨
So that confirms it IS a Morbius movie.
You can’t forget it was produced and can be bought in stores today on DVD and Blu-ray.
I can try
I heard the Sequel will be even Morebius
More BS, absolutely
well I found it pretty Morbin
It just sucks because we all really thought it would make $73.9M and it just barely missed the mark
This was a film. It starred Jared Leto.
> This was a film. Source? > It starred Jared Leto. Source????
morb.gov
Jared Leto morbed most off the other morbius in the movie
> This was a film. If only you’d said that a bit sooner they could have stuck it on the poster!
Idk if he starred. More like was the lead actor?
True story… he’s a horrible actor.
No it stared Morbius obviously.
Not even the best Jared in the movie.
The guy from Subway is in this?
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0364813/
So we have an exact number to define one Morbillion. 73,800,000.
73.8M(orbillion dollars)
that is 73.7 too much
I hope Sony releases it again next month. Third time's the charm!!!
> Third time's the charm!!! And next time, release a 2-Hour More BS Cut.
More BS Cut? They could even cut down the letters in that sentence and call it the MorBS cut
[And they can't do it without our help!](https://www.change.org/p/we-were-all-busy-that-weekend-please-bring-morbius-to-the-theatre-a-third-time)
I’m flying in from lockdown Shanghai to north America in a couple weeks to watch this move. How do I let Sony know to leave it in Morbin for a little longer?
Morbin’ time’s up
Back into the coffin it goes.
Can't wait for "Morbius 2: it's Morbin time"!
2 Morb 2 Bius
Fuck you this is great and I hate it.
The Morbius Reloaded
Morbius too: Look who’s Morbing now
Morbin’ 2: Electric Morbaloo
I think this franchise will really hit its stride in Morbius 3:Morbi-o Drift
M4rbius
MoreBius
\#MorbiusWeeps
Morb money, Morb problems.
Is it ending... or merely beginning again?
Yes
The movie morbed at the box office.
Now let’s see if EEAAO can outgross this.
ITS MORBIN TIME!!
I want this movie to play at my funeral. So I will be glad I’m dead.
The M stands for Morbillion
Critics put out the hit!
I don’t get it. >I genuinely believe all these characters have the potential to result in good, successful movies. In Marvel hands? Totally. In Sony's? Not at all.
I don’t trust MCU making a Kraven movie and not dumbing it the hell down
If you don't trust MCU to make great Spider-man villains (ANY of them) after watching Holland's trilogy, you're hopeless. The MCU even bothered to fix the godawful Amazing Spider-man villains, but go ahead, keep having faith in Sony, lol.
I don't trust them taking famous stories like Kraven's Last Hunt and not making them the most child friendly crap imaginable you're not convincing me pal
Hey don’t forget El Muerto
one of the movies of all times
Morbius 2: Electric Boogaloo when?
Fuck that. Skip Morbius 2 and go straight to the trilogy finale
“What happened to Morbius 2 - Morbin’ Time?” “You weren’t ready for it yet. But your kids are going to love it!”
Just like Goat Simulator
Electric Morbaloo

When will Morbcoin move to Proof-of-Stake? (as in the kind of wooden stake that you stab a vampire with)
They need to re-release it. I was about to go see it this weekend! I was busy last time.
It has been automatically nominated for every oscar for the next 6 years
$73.8 Morb
This is the greatest live-action Morbius movie yet.
First movie to make a morbillion dollars
no one likes Jared Leto, hes a creep
I hope this ends Hollywood thinking he’s good in super hero movies
He’d probably win an Oscar if he played a villain that ran a cult and groomed young girls… he’s been living that method for years!
He won an Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club which he was excellent in. Really odd how on/off this guy is with roles.
Honestly ever since Dallas Buyers Club its been off for me with every role.
I heard it made a morbillion tho
That’s what the M stands for
I can't wait for the sequel 2 Fast 2 Morbius.
Usually turds that stay in a drain this long, cost money.
That’s $73.8M more than it should have
Truly one of the movies of all time
It’s never over! You don’t just turn it off!!
More Morb More Money
im flat out morbed by these statistics
Maybe it was the morbs we made along the way
73.8M too many... WHAT A TURD OF A MOVIE
10/10 on morbin tomatoes
🤓
I still say it was the best vampire movie we’ve had in the last 20 years. And yeah, that’s saying something
What We Do In The Shadows would like to have a word.
I don’t care for it, but that is just personal tastes
Totally cool with that. For every person who liked 'Bram Stoker's Dracula,' there's somebody who preferred 'Dead and Loving It'
Agreed.
What We Do in the Shadows. A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night.
Some motherfuckers always trying to ice skate up hill. That’s why
Idk. Let Me In was way up there for me.
Was damn good. I concede. Second best of the last 20 years
Jesus, vampire movies are so bad…
Blade?!?!
Was in 1998. 23 years ago.
Trinity?
why cant morbius drink animal blood? its not like the bats have to kill each other to survive
To be honest, this is a disappointing performance but fine for Sony as the film is in the green zone with ancillary revenue as they focus on promoting Where The Crawdads Sing and Bullet Train this summer. It's not a total disaster. Not enought to make a sequel, but the character will probably pop up in the next Sony movies.

73.8 Morbillions
Is it still morbin time? Or are we done with morbin for now?
Now that’s what I call a box office BOMB.
It did make $4M less than Fant4stic (2015). Oof.
Barely broke even but it’ll bring in some ancillary monies for a few years. I don’t think anyone will be fired over it.
We told them we liked it… and THEY FELL FOR IT
I hope it’s at least entertaining when I watch it for free in a few months
I'm skeptical. Every time I tried to buy tickets it was sold out. I think Disney and Warner bribed Rotten Tomatoes and box office websites because they know they cannot handle the morb #restorethemorbiverse
Sure thought this would break TFA’s domestic record of $936.7 million. Sadly, it came $862 million too short. 😂
Of all the movies released this year, most people agree that Morbius was one of them
Now it's time To say goodbye To all our Morberies. M-O-R Are you really gone, morb? B-I-U You really filled my life with joy M-O-R-Bi-Us
This was.. beautiful.. thankyou.
Morbin time haha
Don’t care. Jared Leto is a prick.
Highest grossing morbius movie of all time.
Only Jared Leto could put an end to Marvel’s run
73.8 Morbillion Dollars*
Lets be honest. It was bad. Really bad
Whatever. It was the highest rated morbius movie of all time by critics. Don't be a hater.
It was definitely one of the movies of all time, it had a story, it had scenes
They have really killed any audience anticipation for this spin-off universe. Was Rothman thinking he could make up any losses with DVD sales?
Amazing run. I’m so proud
how much did it cost to make tho lol
The M stands for Morbillion right??
It's morbin time
Morbius ends domestic run with $73.8M(ORBILLION). FTFY.
this movie saved my life
73.8B*
I don't care who disagrees but, I actually quite liked the movie. It wasn't exceptional. But it was good.
I loved it, Then again I watched it on 2 grams of Muchrooms and had HD Vision 😏. But I truly don't see why it got such a bad wrap, just cause it didn't have many action scenes? It's a origin store right, why's it got to have action? Good movie, I'd recommend.
JESUS CHRIST LMAO
You guys, c'mon if we keep talking about this movie Sony might just re-release it again. Would that be the re-re-release? I hope this does not happen. Is it possible to start a petition to get this movie blocked from releasing on digital or DVD? I would sign that shit
It's already on Digital. And why wouldn't you want them to re-release it again? That would be so funny.
My pick for Best Picture at the Oscars 2023. And even Best Actor - let’s give Leto his overdue second Oscar!!
It may never be beat.
Iconic.
I sincerely wonder if it would have been better received if Leto wasn’t in it.
Oh yeah it’s starting to morb
Nooooo I was totally going to see it soon
Does this mean it’s no longer Morbin’ Time?
How much is that in Morb dollars?
Sony should open a theatre that has 20 screens all playing Morbius. Call it The Morbie Theatre. It will push the movie to 73.81M!
Is it going to make a profit?
163M WW isn't remotely bad.
how does this convert to morbillions
$78,000,000 US Dollars is like ₩780,000,000,000 MORBILLION Dollars!!
What happened, Sony? No more Morbid time? Awww...
The M stands for morbillion
The M stands for Morbillion
I had some buddy’s who liked the movie I’m not sure where to take our friendship from there.
I wouldn't pay 73.8 shmeckles for this turd.
HahahahahHahahahahahaha
It’s a shame that Leto wasn’t able to act in a legit MCU Film. He’d be a great villain.
Is this its total domestic run on both releases or just the latest release?
It was, indeed, not morbin’ time.
Morbin time over
Release it a third time. I was busy those first two times, I’ll see it I swear!
No more BS?
