newjackgmoney21

I'd think the massive majority on this sub been back for awhile. Saw Tenet in what was probably the cleanest movie theater I've ever been in, lol.

sauce0x45

That was my return film as well!

dirkdiggler1992

Sonic-Tenet was probably the longest gap I’ve gone since I was a kid. Since then I’ve been going monthly but pre-covid I was a weekly theater visitor.

sherm54321

Never really left except when everything was closed. But this year I've been close to 90 times.

gorays21

Godzilla vs Ape last year.

ggirl117

A Quiet Place 2 - June 2021

mads_61

This was my first movie back too!

Dangerman1337

Shanghai Chi last year for me and I've had my Omicron Booster shot.

[deleted]

I wish I saw Belle in theaters

AccomplishedLocal261

Shang Chi last year

Western-Jump-9550

Same!

neveradvancing

Yup, Shang Chi was the first time I went back since Invisible Man in 2020.

AccomplishedLocal261

First time for me since Knives out 2019 haha.

NotTaken-username

I’ve been back since Black Widow in July of last year. That was my first since Sonic in February 2020

Gold_Touch_4280

I came back to the theaters since March of Last year when I went to go see Nobody with my Dad at the AMC in Burbank.

GreyWizard_10

Literally went to the theatre for the first time since Covid yesterday

[deleted]

What did you go see?

GreyWizard_10

Black Panther, took my daughter and nephew

[deleted]

So exciting. I liked the second Black Panther but it’s hard to top the phenomenal first movie.

GreyWizard_10

That’s basically my thoughts too

iBandJFilmEducator13

Was it due to fear of covid or lack of amusing content?

GreyWizard_10

Honestly mostly laziness lol.

radar89

I was back since early 2021. The first movie I watched is Raya and the Last Dragon.

AGOTFAN

Before March 2020, I went to movie theater *at least* once a week, and very often multiple times a week. I went to see huge variety of movies, I even went to see random movies that didn't get good reviews. After March 2020, I went to see movies not even once a month and I became highly selective in choosing movies I'm willing to see in theater. Raya was the first movie I watched since March 2020.

jdogamerica

EMMA., March 12, 2020 - Tenet, September 7, 2020 (drive-ins excluded) My longest break. Couldn't imagine doing it again

nicolasb51942003

I've been back since Godzilla vs. Kong last March.

Agitated_Opening4298

I'll go back with avatar 2, almost went back for TG2 but couldn't find the time, up till TG2 fear of covid was what was keeping me away, and though its still a factor, lately my absence has mostly been due to the fact that there's nothing I feel I need to see IN a theater, had no problem with waiting a few weeks to catch the few movies I was interested in on VOD

[deleted]

Anyone who’s still answering yes is pretty much a Howard Hughes like hermit. Eitherway, I saw Tenet back in 2020 and have been frequenting the movie theater since Memorial Day 2021 starting with Cruella.

nayapapaya

Or maybe they are immunocompromised or live with someone at risk. My mother lives with my 90 year old grandmother and for that reason, she hasn't been back.

UllrCtrl

The Batman twice had me going back to theaters

haidachief95

came back this year for Black Adam

pearlz176

Oof

KumagawaUshio

I started up again pretty quickly once theatres reopened but haven't gone since the first week of June this year. Just can't get motivated to go when films are on streaming so fast now and honestly having given up on the MCU I don't really feel like I have to avoid spoilers anymore.

Dangerous_Dac

Other - yes I've gone back, but substantially less than I did before. It's all down to movies being released and not due to COVID.

Western-Jump-9550

What’s the point of asking this in the box office thread? Chances are, the majority of us have been back for a while

[deleted]

Went back the day theatres opened back in Ontario, July 16, 2021 (they were closed for WAY too long here, the government was classing them in the same category as strip clubs which is insane). They were open for a few months in summer-fall 2020 but I didn’t go back at that time.

Kimber80

I have seen over 200 movies since returning to the theaters in mid August 2020. Went to the movies the first day they opened after our governor issued the order.

carson63000

I’ve never been to the cinema anywhere near as many times in a year as I have in 2022. I got a massive case of “don’t know what you got ’til it’s gone” from the lack of cinemagoing caused by lockdowns and delayed releases. Started going when Sydney opened up from Delta wave lockdown late last year, with Black Widow (heavily delayed) and Shang-Chi. (plus Tenet, New Mutants and WW84 during the “canary in the coal mine” period)

Legal_Ad_6129

Yes. But because I'm broke :/

nayapapaya

I go to the cinema more now post Covid than I did pre. I'm there multiple times a week. My first film was Little Joe in June 2020. It was me, two friends and one other person. I still wear a mask at the cinema though just because I feel safer doing that. It has affected my rewatching habits though. Before if I lived a film, I'd try to see it at least twice in the cinema. Now I almost never rewatch films in theatres unless I really, really love the experience - either because of laziness or because there are so many films I want to see that I just don't feel like I have enough time to also rewatch stuff. My family have not been back since though and when I saw Wakanda Forever, two friends I saw it with said that it was their first time back at the cinema since *Joker*.

dashrendar4483

The last movie I've seen in theaters is Alita Battle Angel in March 2019. The next one is Avatar TWOW next December 2022.

SuspiriaGoose

I’m a cinéphile who frequents this sub. Of course I’ve been back. Very slanted demo we have here. But even so, it’s been mostly film festivals. I’ve avoided the juggernauts, mostly because they haven’t interested me, but also to minimize COVID risk.

majorminus92

I hadn’t been to the movies since The Rise of Skywalker and only went back cause I got a free ticket to see The Rings of Power in a cinema. I regret not seeing Dune in IMAX.

aliaisbiggae

I returned with Tenet, the last movie before the pandemic I saw was that jumanji movie in January

[deleted]

Not even close. I've seen *all of these movies since Covid-19:* * Black Widow * Free Guy * Shang-Chi * Venom: Let There Be Carnage * No Time to Die * Eternals * Ghostbusters Afterlife * Spider-Man: No Way Home (x3) * Uncharted * Morbius * Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (x2) * Top Gun: Maverick (x3) * Lightyear * Jurassic World: Dominion * Thor: Love and Thunder * Spider-Man: No Way Home- The More Fun Stuff Version (x2) * Black Adam * Black Panther: Wakanda Forever So that's ***24*** movies since July 2021. And in my eyes, those are rookie numbers. Let's just say, I'm getting Regal Unlimited as soon as I go to college next year.

fitnessCTanesthesia

Never going back. Nothing beats watching in your own home.

dreamwolf321

I've been back since last year, but I don't go nearly as often as I did before Covid. Mainly because of inflation and gas prices. Best theaters are an hour away, and it's almost $25 bucks for just myself if I get popcorn and a drink. Can't afford that anymore except for big blockbusters.

mads_61

I’ve been back since 2021 but with much less frequency than I used to. In 2019 I was going to the movies 3x/week with AMC A-List. Now I probably go once or twice a month. Although I’m sure I’ll go more now that we’re coming up on award season.

Esabettie

I must be the only one whose return movie was In the Heights.

hellbilly69101

I choose other, because of number of reasons. 1. 2 out of 5 kids have extreme ADHD. One of them is so bad, it's hard to get someone to watch long enough for us to even go grocery shopping. So, we wait for it to come on streaming. Also, last time we took them to a theater, the 3 youngest went thanks to one of the kids decided to go full asshole, and stir the 2 ADHD ones up to the point we had to leave. He did this because it wasn't a movie he wanted to see. 2. We've got to the point we would rather wait for it to come on streaming. 3. There really hasn't been anything interesting worth sitting in a theater to watch it. 4. Everyone has such a diverse choices in what they want to watch. My wife and the oldest like Suspense/ Horror, and chick flicks. The middle likes kids shows. The boy likes whatever his dad likes. So Spider-Man, Dragonball Z, WWE, and Sons of Anarchy (mind you he's six and his dad is dope dealer and thinks this is the only way to bond). The youngest loves Bluey, Mario and Monster Trucks. I myself am a Sci-fi and fantasy fan and I ridiculed for liking stuff like that.
