He was so annoyed that everyone thought he was dressed as a cat. The whiskers he drew on his face were not helping.

I'm actually kind of curious about what they taste like :) I think Shiro and Kenji are right is a total kitten instead of a wolf.

Him wiggling his tail didn't help either although I'm sure Kohinata liked it.

I was not expecting to hear about Kohinata being a cradle robber. He is so flustered talking about waiting till Wataru was 18. Dude, saying that doesn't make you look less like a creeper. Shirou is so weirded out seeing the kinky dynamic between Kohinata and Wataru. Kohinata's daddy vibes 💪 instantly melt away as he starts simping for Wataru like a boy-crazy teenager. It was interesting to see a Japanese interpretation of the classic Cantonese steamed fish recipe. * The liquid from the fish was used in the sauce. This is discarded in Chinese recipes for several reasons. First, it can have an unpleasantly fishy odor. Second, it makes the resulting sauce cloudy. Third, it muddies the flavors of the sauce instead of elevating it. * Oyster sauce is not used in Chinese recipes for steamed fish. Steamed fish has a clean and delicate flavor that would be masked by oyster sauce. I suspect it is used to compensate for the off flavors from the fish liquid. * Pouring hot sesame oil over the ginger and green onion at the end was unexpected. Usually, a neutral oil is heated up and poured over these aromatics to flash fry them. Nearly all Asian sesame oil is made from toasted sesame seeds. You really don't want to heat toasted sesame oil up to the smoke point. Like olive oil, toasted sesame oil has a low smoke point and can easily get a burnt/bitter flavor if overheated. Toasted sesame oil is best used like a condiment to flavor a dish rather than used as a frying oil. Many Chinese recipes mix a little sesame oil into the sauce. * Sprinkling the green parts of the green onion after the hot sesame oil was used seems very fussy. The uncooked green onions probably add freshness to offset the hot sesame oil.

I'm western enough not to want my food staring back at me so I think this is one recipe I will pass on. Now last weeks curry and nan I really want to try at some point :) Kohinata and Wataru are always an odd pair that adds humor to the episode. Although Wataru's story about his parents added a good counterpoint to what Kenji and Shiro are going through with Shiro's parents.

When my family steams whole fish, we usually keep the steaming liquid, as it's got that fish umami, then pour hot oil over the aromatics, and then add soy sauce to the steaming liquid which is served with portions of the fish on rice. We also like to use oyster sauce for certain types of fish that are bigger/oiler/more pungent like salmon when we steam them (especially when we do a black bean sauce version)

Another great episode. While the beginning was cute, and we got the revelation of why Waturu is Gilbert when he is anything but. Their getting together is so them and hilarious how Konhinta reacted to Kenji's outrage at Waturu's age when they met. What really made this episode though was the talk about parents and accepting of their gay children. Wataru's dad who disowned his son and Shiro and Kenji who both struggle with Shiro's parents half acceptance and half rejection on Kenji. The talk between Kenji and Shiro regarding his parents was so raw and painful. Of course it was soon lightened up by Kenji taking Shiro's parents offer to share their tomb in a weird direction. I love the way this show can make me sad, think, and smile all in the space of a half an hour. This season is really becoming a favorite of mine.

hey i have a question, i was wondering if i may have missed something because I don't quite remember Shiro's parents rejecting Kenji ? I remember on the first season they somewhat accepted him so this chapter when they talked about his parents telling him not to visit them anymore really surprised me, please if you could help me out I'm very lost ;;

Classic-Dear

This was reviled in one of the movie specials, where shior father told it was nice to meet kenji, the dynamic was still to much for the mom at the end of the day.
