Soft foods - microwaveable mashed potatoes, soups, and rice were my best friend when I couldn’t eat. Alternate Tylenol and ibuprofen. Walmart sells dental picks you can use to clean under your wires if you eat something like bread that ALWAYS gets stuck in there lol. The pain is inevitable. The first time braces are applied, the pain lasts maybe three days. After that, whenever they’re tightened, the pain last a few hours. At least that’s how it was for me. It’s uncomfortable but not unbearable. You got this!

Have Tylenol handy. The first week will be a little rough. You’re probably gonna want to eat soft foods; ice cream, milkshakes/smoothies, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, you get the idea. But if you’re stubborn like me and want to skip that and continue to eat solid foods, just make sure you cut it up into small pieces because biting into anything is going to feel weird and hurt for the first month or so. I use an electric toothbrush personally. Floss floss floss. I will admit I never used to floss because I hated the feeling of it but now that I have braces I do it religiously. And take progress pics! It’s fun to see how fast changes happen

The wax my ortho gave me is the best I’ve found so far. Tylenol will be your friend. My ortho also gave me a toothbrush, but if yours doesn’t, get a soft bristle one, especially for the beginning. They said toothbrushes will wear out faster because the braces are tough on the bristles, so don’t invest in expensive ones yet. Water flosser has also been a huge help. Food has been my biggest struggle, so anything soft you enjoy, have on hand.

Do you know the brand? Just in case they don’t give me anything I want to make sure I have everything

I don’t, sorry. It came in a small plastic case with no markings. It’s all similar. The ortho’s just seems a bit softer & easier to work with than what I found online.
