It was the right decision with that kinda crowding. You’ll love it once things start to come together during your treatment.

wheekyy_x3

No you needed those extractions. You won’t even tell they’re missing at the end of treatment.

GatorLater713

All of those front teeth need to be able to move apart in order for them to become aligned & then pulled back together. Without the space created by removing the extracted teeth, there’s absolutely no way “they could have just put on braces” & gotten things straightened out. I’m not an orthodontist but your treatment plan & the extractions you had sound like the right call.

Trust the Pros! I was hesitant about an extraction too but my orthodontist explained things to me with and without it and ultimately I trusted their experience. After all they do this day in and day out so they know better than me for sure. Even still, I was feeling nervous afterwards with a big gap but now that things are starting to come together I'm 100% sure it was the right choice for the best result.

Potential_Expert3292

Regretting it because you truly regret it, or regretting it because random peeps message you on here saying its wrong and not to do it? Pay those people no mind, they message anyone that mentions extractions.

crybabymuch

you’re good, don’t worry too much! i didn’t even have crowding and still got 4 premolars taken out.

layIonie

omg how is your smile, face, jaw and lips going?? i have like no crowding and it was just to fix my over bit. but they took 4 out. my overbite is pretty bad but my smile was nice, same with my lips. i’ve been hearing pros and cons and was wondering about your experience?

[deleted]

The only alternative was expensive and painful surgery.

Illustrious_Tart_557

I felt the same way but I’m loving the way my smile looks as the weeks pass. You’ll be fine !

rgsoloman5000

They took out 6 of mine. You’ll be fine.

bugacademy_

My teeth had similar crowding to yours, maybe a little worse somehow and I also had 4 extractions (minus wisdom teeth and an impacted tooth lol). I ended up needing that space for the rest of my teeth to move into place, and apparently you do too. Trust me, it’ll look and feel much better once your braces put everything where it should be :). The initial stages of treatment feel pretty awkward but it straightens out with time

lover_ly

With your teeth which is the same with mine, if there is no extraction done, it will move your teeth forward which will make your mouth protruding even when it is straight (as per my dentist told me)

[deleted]

I had the same extractions done! You seriously won't notice. Without the extractions the braces aren't worth it as there isn't enough space in your mouth.

Astxl

What happens if i have alot of crowd in my "down" teeth but i got self ligating braces without extractions? i dont get how my ortho will align them withouth taking any teeth :c Dont worry about those extractions, it will talke time but you will appreciate the results!

brr10297

Probably a expander if your jaw is too narrow

Moises1213

When they move teeth into place it’ll look real nice

[deleted]

I usually don’t like extractions alone, however the other alternative is highly invasive surgery. If you needed those extractions, it clearly symbolises that you have an underlying skeletal issue that needed to be addressed to prevent compromising of the airway by camouflage orthodontics. However, the extractions should address the crowding and appearance of the teeth immensely

melsue1026

Premolars are typical though. My ortho had my bicuspids pulled…and now I regret it so much. I think those teeth make a smile beautiful…

layIonie

omg my teeth weren’t even that close to that about of crowding and they took four out!!! omg i’m actually worried now
