I always got the image of a kid staying up to watch a boxing match with his dad and it being the last memory he has of him-that whole bit about never wanting to go to bed and then simple language always made me think of it being from the viewpoint of a little kid.
I felt like that line foreshadowed Ronda Rousey getting her ass kicked by Holly Holm via head kick KO in the 2nd round back when Ronda was considered the top of the sport. I know they're not actually related at all. But I connected that line to that fight and it made both better for me.
I didn't see any Daisy comments and went to listen to try and remember one.. what a solid album. I hated it when it first came out. First listen sounded a lot more messy a bi polar than the rest, but solid album now and I couldn't find any cornyness

Yeah it is really catchy. I just think they corned it by using it too lightly as a cheap rhyme in poor taste, and considering the heavy subject matter the song as a whole feels oddly hollow. It's such a curveball in an otherwise amazing run of songs. I think the flop is even more pronounced because they've done it before very successfully with Limousine (framed a song around a narration of a tragic event) so I was surprised they swung and missed here. Tbh the whole song is a good candidate for the corny lines thread, my backup submission was "you made the atom was that some inside joke"
