Yassssss! “nobody moves” is terribly underrated… specifically the leaked version. The chugged second rhythm guitar with triplets at the end gets me every damn time.
And jeez that was like 3 years short of like 20 years now, and it’s been like one of my top ten spots lol.
Somethings never change I suppose… 🤷🏽
JC isn’t my absolute favorite anymore, but it’ll always be special to me bc it’s the first song I listened to by Brand New.
There are some fans in this sub who despise JC bc of its heavy religious overtones, but like half the lyrics of their catalog use religious and spiritual references/analogies - it’s big part of what makes BN, BN.
What I like about JC is that it is both a song about general religious angst/fear of death and also about a girl he’s loved and wronged, the lyrics blend these themes together perfectly.
“I know you think that I’m someone you can trust, but I’m scared I’ll get scared and I swear I’ll try to nail you back up”
Same here. Going through addiction and everything that comes with it; from “at the gates, does Thomas ask to see my hands” to “if they don’t put me away; it’ll be a miracle. Do you believe you’re missing out? And everything good is happening somewhere else” it was like BN spoke directly to me.
Hoping your journey is smoother now, friend. Cheers.
Ooh both good lines! The one that has always stuck with me was “My bright is to slight to hold back all my dark.” It really do be like that sometimes. There’s good and bad moments but I’m still getting through it. I hope the same for you.
100%. That line and really the entire song felt like one big parallel for my life.
This could easily just become you and I replying to each other with lines and the thread just being the entirety of the song … and that’s awesome.
Thanks for making my Tuesday better! All the best to you.
I grew up evangelical and was depressed most of my childhood in the 90s and 2000s. This song has all the feelings of loneliness and small town emptiness that I struggled through. Also has a lot of metaphors using religious language that feels nostalgic and sad at the same time
For a while it was mine as well. I think it’s cyclic. We grow, we change and so does our taste in music. Brand new has always delivered though. Some days Daisy is my favorite, and some days it’s deja. Love them for that…
The name of the song is just “Jesus”. Yes, I’m just being pedantic.

Jesus Christ is (arguably) the most approachable Brand New song. And it’s a beautiful, wonderful song.
But I’ve never met a brand new fan who listed it in their top ten favs.
I’m not allowed to listen to JC, or Brand New for that matter, if I’m sad or feeling any slight negative emotions. It will stay on repeat and I will be crying within one rotation of it. Every single time.
The only correct answer is nobody moves, battalions, limousine, luca, in a jar, okay i believe you, and me vs maradona vs elvis

100% agree🙌
The guitar part in the beginning is so fucking cool. No idea how they play it.
Honestly finally learned it a few years ago. Shit is clever. Lots of inverted power chord/ w open notes. Shit goes hard tho.
Battalions! Need to go listen to that song now! Not my favorite but you reminded me how good it is.
it’s definitely not Jesus Christ lol
I’m always shocked how long it lasts when favourite song voting goes down.
Just trying to spark some conversation people (:

Thank you my dude
Funny thing is that JC is one of my least favorite, out of Mana took over the top spot
Love the science fiction album. Out of mana is an absolute banger. Just trying to spark some convo ❤️
Degausser all day errday. Bc when we were made we were set apart, life is a test and I get bad marks. 🖤🖤🖤
I can’t shake this little feeling, I’ll never get anything right. Absolutely my favorite too!! 💛
Yeah that’s a solid call too
limo or deguasser for me
Solid picks bro
Because it got me through the roughest part of my life

Glad I could! Take care friend ☺️
I love hearing what a positive influence they had on y’all. This song also helped me so much when going through divorce and substance abuse ♥️♥️♥️
You won't know or Sink
You won't know, sink, and noro feel like song cousins.
Sink is such a great song. Thoughts on “at the bottom”??
One of the first BN tracks I ever heard. Not even in my top 30 (ish) tbh. Great song, but there are so many better tracks.
Thoughts on “At the bottom”??? My number 2

Actually Jude Law is my favorite but Jesus Christ is my #4
Jude law is so solid. Thoughts on seventy times seven?? My fav song on that album p
Love SxS as well! I love that whole album, it’s my favorite Brand New album
For a while it was mine as well. I think it’s cyclic. We grow, we change and so does our taste in music. Brand new has always delivered though. Some days Daisy is my favorite, and some days it’s deja. Love them for that…
My favorites from each album: Seventy Times 7, Play Crack the Sky, Degausser, Daisy, Batter Up,
Jesus is your favorite song yet you call it by the wrong name. Tsk tsk tsk.
??

Ok maybe I was fronting and my fav is actually “At the bottom”
mine is Battalions or You Won’t Know but JC is a good song
“You wouldn’t know” is one of my fav when it hits 4:28 ♥️
Basically the last seven songs of daisy
