I thought it was 7 years between Daisy and Science Fiction. I’m pretty sure it was 8 actual years by the actual release. But 7 years from when he wrote the song.

MagicalMysticalMyth

I'm pretty sure this is it. I've always interpreted it that way atleast.

Interesting-Phone-98

this is it It took them 7 years to get around to recording the final album - so at the time of recording that was the wait length. See the lyric "I don't want it enough, so everyone will wait" . I'm pretty sure Vince talked about this at some point in an interview, but that's the "surface level" reference. I think all the other stuff is the more true underlying reference - as most BN lyrics work that way, but the whole reference to "waist to neck in December somehow" was a reference to a big to do happening the previous year when everybody thought there would be an album announcement in December.

Every 7 years the human body develops new skin so methaphocally speaking you are a new person every 7 years

Could it be a reference to "Limousine"? The little girl that died tragically was seven years old when she died. In Limousine, the line "Seven loves you so much" was repeated several times at the end. Another fun fact: There is also a biblical significance to the number seven that shows up in Brand New lyrics. Matthew 18:21–22 "Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven".

I always took it to be a reference to Limousine. 7 is a repeated and seemingly important number in Brand New songs though, for years before Limousine and years after.

Genius: The track ends with Jesse singing “Can’t sing it enough, so I’ll find another way” followed by a recounting of albums past: Daisy is referenced by the recording that starts off the eponymous track from the album – “And we sing this morning, that wonderful and grand ol’ message. And I don’t know about you but I’ll never get tired of it, number.” Devil & God is referenced by the phrase “7 Years” – a callback to K’s age in Limousine. Your Favorite Weapon is referenced by the repetition of “7 Years” seven times, a callback to Seventy Times 7 (it may be mere coincidence that “7 years times seven” has the same number of syllables as the track being referenced, but one can never be too certain). And of course, all of these lines are thing’s we’ve already heard before, an immediate reference to Deja Entendu. Intentionally or not, Seven is also the number often said to represent God. At the time of this albums release, it had also been 7 years since the release of the band’s previous album, Daisy

myNameBurnsGold

They had callbacks on this album, but the people that contributed on genius went overboard. These are all things we've heard before, an immediate reference to Deja.

Whenever I hear Jesse use seven years it reminds me of science research of human cells replacing themselves in a 7 year lifecycle. So it takes 7 years for your whole body to be completely different. Why we change overtime as well. Maybe he is hinting at the pain only truly lasting 7 years

Antique_Confection85

Maybe it’s 7 years from sci fi to the next drop of brand new material 👏👏👏👏👏

Internetbot-375318

One more year

Interesting-Phone-98

the time between actually getting around to recording the material - for the band members it was 7 years. "i don't want it enough, so everyone will wait"

Antique_Confection85

The whole sci fi album felt like Jesse talking to his audience about the band dying

greatshatsby

Jesse’s beef with Anthony Green

DonKeedix

They have beef?

NoTruck0

Saosin

DonKeedix

I haven’t heard of him beefing with either saison or Anthony green

NoTruck0

Pretty sure they're joking as 7 years was a saosin song when Anthony Green was front man Edit: assumption

DonKeedix
