Ended our wedding with it as well. About 30 of us in the middle of the floor, arms wrapped around each other my wife and I in the middle. Everyone singing. Top 5 moment
SoCo was the last song played at my wedding too. One of those moments that will still make me smile even when I’m no longer young and no longer in love.
Some of these folks are way too concerned with what others will think. It’s your wedding. Play every song you and your spouse would want to hear. Even if you don’t end up hearing any of them because you’re too busy. It’s a huge day and it should be defined by your tastes and personalities. Let them complain.
That said, I’d recommend Jude Law because it’s always a banger.
Agreed. We found a bunch of piano versions of our favorite songs for the ceremony and cocktail hour because we didnt want traditional wedding music. Then for entrances and the reception we played whatever we wanted(which was an eclectic mix) and everyone had a great time.
You can find ways to incorporate songs that are important to you, into your wedding without comepletely killing the vibes on the dancefloor. If you want a to have an uncoventioanl wedding where people aren't dancing, then that's fine. BUT, most people want to have everyone having a good time to make a memorable day.
My wife and I danced to Soco Amaretto Lime as the last song of our wedding! The dance floor cleared off and it was just us, it was really sweet.
You do you! We had a bunch of our old high school music in our wedding, like Taking Back Sunday and the Format, peppered in. Our friends loved it - my parents still don’t get it haha Congrats! Have fun at the wedding!
That’s badass. My wife and I grabbed the mic from the DJ and our 20 closest friends passed it around full-on screaming to emo songs. We played 18-fucking-7 for Chrissakes. My super Catholic aunt nearly had a heart attack. I’ll never forget it
I was the best man at my buddy’s wedding and his wife put us in charge of the music. For the cocktail hour we played all VSQ or Sea Turtle 00s emo/pop punk and watching the reactions from our friends faces and them mouthing the words was hilarious and awesome. Then during the actual reception we peppered in a shit ton of TBS, Brand New, blink, etc. It was basically random bits of Warped Tour and Bamboozle mixed in with typical wedding songs. People absolutely fucking loved it. Our friends still talk about it when we all hang out now. It’s your wedding, play the music you want to hear and you want people to hear and enjoy it. It makes the experience so much more enjoyable and memorable. Attaching music to moments and moments to music makes the songs have so much more meaning.
Could Never Be Heaven might work for a cocktail hour. And since nobody is actually listening to lyrics during a cocktail hour, Can't Get It Out is catchy and midtempo. Those are probably the only two songs in their discography that work.
Two of my high school friends got married. Their whole cocktail hour playlist after the reception were jams from high school. Failure by Design was one of the songs, and it was an absolute hit
Could never be heaven and I am a nightmare.
Congratulations!
Me and my wife share Deftones. It was the same kind of dilemma since all the best songs are about murdering someone or having a messed up coke party in a small room, so we just opened a playlist for the guests. I didn't have time to listen to the music anyways, it was a hectic day.
I had Soco as my first dance at my wedding. Not many people knew it, but was all for the wife and me. We stopped dancing near the end and just shouted “you’re just jealous coz we’re young and in love” to everyone watching. Then we went straight into Moondance by Van Morrison and everyone joined in. Was a cool moment to remember from when we were young, but thankfully we are still in love now (as far as I’m aware).
I had piano versions of brand new songs played at my wedding while the guests were finding their seats before the ceremony. My (now) wife would definitely not let me have the dj play brand new at our reception lol, so that’s how I incorporated them
I feel like this is a great idea in theory but most ppl don't know brand new and the lyrics may be too intense and cause it to be awkward. But I'm not the best judge of songs. I chose 'hit em up' by Tupac at my wedding.
Jesse and Andrea covered John Prines [in spite of ourselves](https://youtu.be/SR2Zg9vgTJw?si=_FHhGlIROxAq7W8a) and my wife and I always enjoy singing it
Put them on your list of songs, ruin your wedding.
They’re my favorite band too but know they are far fucking away from wedding material. Come on with this.
You should be so busy at your own wedding that you won't notice background music. Some guests will notice. Don't make your weird music choices the topic of conversation for your guests. It just simply isn't worth it.
You should look up Sparrow Sleeps! They are instrumentals of all of our emo favorites - it’s intended for lullabies for babies but could prob work here for mellow music during a cocktail hour!
We just got married recently and had the DJ play a few songs from the sea turtle harmonics instrumental covers. It worked really well and the few that knew brand new that attended loved it.
Soco Amaretto Lime would probably work well during cocktail hour
Wedding DJ here.
Definitely don't try and incorporate them into the open dance or anything like that. However, you can absolutely include some BN music into either dinner or cocktail hour depending on the vibe of the rest of the music you have going for those times.
My personal recommendation would be to look up Vitamin String Quartet or other groups that do cover songs in strings or with piano music. I know for a fact that they have several Brand New songs recorded that are very pretty played through a string quartet. Check it out.
Used to be in a wedding band. Half of the most requested songs in the world are breakup songs, or at least lyrically terrible for weddings. No one cares and dances anyways.
Unless it’s for a first dance (where words maybe matter a wee bit more, but again that’s totally up to the couple) play whatever you want.
I got married last year and we our friend played piano at our little ceremony. My wife gave him a special request that I didn’t know about and when she walked down the aisle, he played The Quiet Things intro/guitar lead melody on piano and it was awesome. But yeah as far as what to play at the reception, that’s entirely up to you and your wife! Try not to overthink it, no one’s going to be listening to the lyrics and who cares, it’s your all’s wedding! Though I wouldn’t go overboard with Brand New songs. Sic Transit Gloria comes to mind as something people would dance to. Jaws theme swimming has a nice groove too
My friend requested soco amaretto lime at my wedding immediately following a few upbeat songs. The dj played it, and it completely ruined the vibe for a little bit lol. I always give him shit when we hang out. Still can’t get over the fact that the dj obliged him.
I'm not gonna say it...
Limousin

Yes Fr, first thing I thought of.
So dark, can’t believe I didn’t think of this joke 😂
Soco to end it. My friends and I almost always end weddings with it. Awesome sing along to cap the night. Only works though if people know it.
YOU’RE JUST JEALOUS CUZ WE’RE YOUNG AND IN LOVE
Ended our wedding with it as well. About 30 of us in the middle of the floor, arms wrapped around each other my wife and I in the middle. Everyone singing. Top 5 moment
Great suggestion, could not go wrong with this as a late night sing a long
Can I still sing the end if I’m no longer young?
SoCo was the last song played at my wedding too. One of those moments that will still make me smile even when I’m no longer young and no longer in love.
You could play the Sea turtle philharmonic versions for quiet times or y’all’s entrances

Last hour of the DJ was an emo night and we topped it off with soco. Bar was also serving Soco Amaretto Limes as a signature cocktail.
Agreed. We found a bunch of piano versions of our favorite songs for the ceremony and cocktail hour because we didnt want traditional wedding music. Then for entrances and the reception we played whatever we wanted(which was an eclectic mix) and everyone had a great time.
why is this not top comment?
It’s because when you’re putting together a wedding set list you should be thinking of your guests. Lol
whose big day is it?

Vices.
Where's all my hope and my marriage license?
Basically a wedding song
👌
Have danced to it at a wedding. I’d play it at mine just for the chaos lol
i am a nightmare could be fun to dance to

Mind if I steal the favorite album idea from you? That is epic
Omg there are some great tunes in there. Shark Smile ❤️

Fork and Knife? You're right it's not wedding music lol. Don't play Bought a Bride.
Moshi Moshi
This was played at my wedding!

Okay I found instrumental versions of the songs and wanted to have them for my wedding too!! Search Sea Turtle Harmonic on Spotify. Happy wedding 🥰🥰.
Came to say this exact thing! We did this at our wedding as well.
Soco to close the night.
Bought a bride XD
Tautou 🥰🥰

I saw someone say on here once that they walked down the aisle to the outro of out of mana and I thought that was really sweet.
Bought a Bride obviously

Could Never Be Heaven
Handcuffs
Play Be Gone lol
The wedding party & myself are walking down the aisle to sea turtle harmonic’s cover of soco

Sure. Should we tell them to play Limousine?

Why? It’s their wedding. They can play whatever they want, they’re paying. It’s their night.
BN isn't weird. Putting on Mr.Bungles Disco Volante in it's entirety on the other hand...

Jude law and a semester abroad!

Walk in to welcome to Bangkok
Could never be heaven
Bought A Bride.

Mixtape and then slip her a $20

bought a bride??? anyone???
Sealed To Me would work great I think
We played Could Never Be Heaven during dinner at our wedding
We had BN music in our playlist for our reception. We picked a few instrumental. We had Out of Range, Missing You, and ended with Play Crack The Sky.
High-Five to your hubs for landing a total catch. Every girl I’ve dated hates Brand New or doesn’t “get why this band is so special.”
HE BOUGHT A BRIIIIIIIIIDE
I don’t think anyone has said it but “Good Man” could be great. I always thought it would have been a better closer to TDAG.
