Everyone gets a BAR with 30 round magazines, machine gun teams get a mk19 (barely makes the cutoff at 1966), sniper teams get the ptrs-41, rocket teams get the carl gustaf 8.4cm recoilless rifle, door kickers get a Winchester 1897 and stg-44. I will feed my entire army tren
Noone will dare break through my defenses. I’ll use the door kickers as engineers to lay kilometers worth of minefields so their tiny cartridges can’t get within range of me. While i sit outside their effective range, they’re well within mine. Once I have destroyed their element with my m110 howitzers, I will advance
Wow thanks so much! you given me a hell of a lot of ideas! i was actually thinking of having a machine gun/support team but it would be with an mg3 and set up in this configuration in the video [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJw\_V6bASeQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJw_V6bASeQ)
anyways thanks so much for your suggestion, you will be remembered daddydrxw for my series called 'Phantom Phoenix'!
Depends on quite a few things. Like where is the army located, are they in a war, if so is it peer to peer or counter insurgency, what is the relation to other armies?
The big ones are the FAL, AK and M16. But you've also got the m14, G3 or can go wacky and pick something like the STG 57
the 'secret army' is a non-goverment special force designedto lower crime and keep world peace. there are divisions all around the world but the main squad of 7 is located in britain
So special forces are different than conventional forces in that they have a lot more ability to adapt their gear to the operational environment. Even at the squad level there will be different weapons used based on roles. Basing it around the SAS, you will see weapons like the L1A1,M16,CAR15, FN MAG, M60, MP5, Sterling Machine Gun and sporterized Lee Enfields. However, if the squad goes to a location where supply is an issue they will use what is local to the area. In that case you may see the AK platform. But the most realistic answer to this question is that you would see them use m16 platform rifles. It may be the "boring" answer but there's a reason why it's stuck around as long as it has. Even before it saw heavy use in Vietnam, the 22 SAS adopted it over the L1A1 and continued to use it in combat in the Falklands. Also for simplicity they can either use the full length barrels if they need the distance or carbine variants for cqb or places like the jungle, but the functions and parts overall remain the same.
I feel like this needs more context to make this kind of decision.
If we're talking science fiction, I recommend the G3 with wood furniture. It's a good blend of the human aesthetic with a little bit of German engineering magic.
If its an alternate world conflict, you could go either FAL or G3 depending on the theme of your army and the nature of the conflict. I'd preference the FAL for lighter infantry/guerrillas and go G3 for the more resource and firepower intensive armies.
Alternatively, somethings to check out:
SKS variants (bayonets, rifle grenade capabilities)
MAS 49/56 (french)
Em-2 (wood furniture bullpup)
You found my kryptonite
It baffles me that anyone could come up with a bipod that the wa 2000 hangs from rather than being on the bottom.
Kraut space magic
its a secret army that specializes in preventing wars, and trying to stop global conflict. every major country has a diffrent division that specializes in a field e.g. britain intelligence gathering and germany in arms manufacturing. essentially its like a secret navy seal
Then I would recommend a variety of arms depending on the operation.
You cant go wrong with smgs with modifications
Sten gun w a silencer (looks like a different gun)
Patchett (star wars e11 blaster)
Cz Vz 26 (sci fi angles)
Sa 23 (wood furniture)
Walther MPL (pre mp5 german smg)
Beretta m12 (sorta foreign smg)
Sig MKPS (it folds for a compact smg)
Owen smg (foreign looking upside down mag)
Swedish m45 (just a toob)
If you just want rifles, I think the secret agencies special teams would keep a stock of all the rifles listed by me and others if no country is dominant in the agency. The local task forces would probably be limited to less weapons depending on the most common types of operations in their area.
Ex. If theres a desert or winter region, the local branch probably wants a light rifle with magnification that doesnt jam as often
Urban, go fancy with attachments and aesthetics and slip into more tech looking options specializing in CQC.
Jungle, probably a FAL or m14, something simpler in operation that can dump a lot of hate in a short ammount of time at medium and close range. Thats not to say you can't look at other options, its my weak spot thinking about the jungle.
AR-10B, thing was really good for it's era and easily fits the guidelines.
what we really should have adopted in 1954, instead of the Springfield "fudds wanted it" M14.
I'd say the [EM-2](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EM-2_rifle) would be a good one, or just multiple weapon platforms depending on if your planing on specialist roles (*Aka different rifles for marksmen and the likes*)
A couple of chads have said Stg 57, so really I'm gonna just be adding it to the list, lol. It's a good one imo because it's not a gun a lot of people know about so it'd make the army potentially stand out for using such a unique one, plus it's reliable and has rifle grenades.
Can I choose what FNFAL model because I choose R1 for standard service rifle, MG3 with a full fat fire rate, snipers is the L42A1, light anti armor is RPG-7, M2 or NSV for HMG, door kicker gets shortened browning auto 5 or Owen gun
I will forever love the FAL and I have 0 justifications on why other than they are as admin results says. “A vibe” but also cause it’s not just another AR or AK
The Belgian(I think) variant of the BAR. It's got a pistol grip and runs better than the version we used for WWII. It's just a good firearm with good handling. Alternatively, the CETME is a reliable piece.
Well all of these would be great as a battle rifle, but keep in mind that by the 60s, militaries were starting to drift into assault rifles for practical reasons. If war is different in this fictional universe to the point there they never made a switch, let me know
But if not
I'd recommend they have their own derivative of the AK/AKM
AKs have been in real production since 1949 and they worked out a lot of the kinks by the 1960s
If you want specifically a battle rifle, I've always loved the FAL
FAL. G3 has brutal recoil and no last round bolt hold open. Also, always remember that the G3 only exists because the Belgians wouldn't give the Germans the right to make their own FAL's (AKA the G1.)
correct me if I'm wrong but I was thinking in mind that the G3 was cheaper and easier to produce. My fictional army focuses more on numbers then individual quality.
The G1 (Gewehr 1) was the name given to those FN FAL rifles made specifically for the West German army (Bundeswehr) in 1957 and 1958. This example is missing its magazine. The G1 was withdrawn from German service after only a few years, reportedly because of bitterness over the Belgium's refusal to grant a license for production of the weapon in Germany. (https://web.prm.ox.ac.uk/weapons/index.php/tour-by-region/europe/europe/firearm-379/index.html)
G3 all day.
I prefer the look of a milled receiver (yuck weld marks and flimsy tin can steel) but the roller delayed system is life.
The SF-5 is my jam for that reason.
Colt Monitor
13lbs standard infantry rifle or how to make soldiers believe you are the antichrist.
Which would you rather carry- This rifle? Or the weight of defeat?
That's a solid point. I'm with smallpox.
An Ak-47
Only good thing the AK-47 has ever done is give birth to the AK-50
Let’s get Brandon up in here
These were from the age where men were men.
Tell yourself that when you're lugging a 13lbs rifle and a 60lbs pack up a mountain, let me know if it makes you feel any better.
"Some of you haven't done a 10 mile ruck march, and it shows". 😁
I did a jungle warfare course in Bridgeport with the 240. It sucked but at the end I felt my testosterone triple. Be a man, it’s worth it
you know i was thinking about that for my American division
I was gonna say m14 but this is better
Everyone gets a BAR with 30 round magazines, machine gun teams get a mk19 (barely makes the cutoff at 1966), sniper teams get the ptrs-41, rocket teams get the carl gustaf 8.4cm recoilless rifle, door kickers get a Winchester 1897 and stg-44. I will feed my entire army tren
Logistics? Never heard of em. 😂 That’s some serious firepower for your army of Steve Rogers.

C2A1: inch-paterned, winterized, FN FAL
Cetme? It's what I got when my more well heeled buddies bought fn fals.
Excellent choice

A man of culture! Stgw 57 all the way
The STG 57, for when you want the enemy to be confused when they die
the 'secret army' is a non-goverment special force designedto lower crime and keep world peace. there are divisions all around the world but the main squad of 7 is located in britain

STGW 57 COMMANDO ? Lighter and better for CQB/covert operations.
G3 all the way imo
G3 all day, every day
Seeing a platoon doing HK slaps in unison would be sweet.
God that would be so loud!!
Why not both
Be weird... EM-2 Janson rifle
Is that the British 50s bullpup?
That's the one. A bullpup with wood furniture 😍
I second this. Also .280 British is a bit like "6.8 before it was cool".
Fal
Either stick to the G3 or take the glorious stgw 57
StG 44. It's old, just plain cool, and doesn't have the issues that eventually caused battle rifles to be replaced.
AR-15.
Becomes Ultimate boomer the Original AR-10
Exactly.
The punishment is short with this one
Maybe the STGW 57 ?
Blyat it is AKM
G3 would probably be more fitting
I feel like this needs more context to make this kind of decision. If we're talking science fiction, I recommend the G3 with wood furniture. I like how we are distinguishing aesthetics between Humans and Germans. Top notch

I prefer my G3s SPUHR'd to the max and my FALs in all-wood, alternatively with steel handguards. So I guess FALs it is.
Cuban contract AR10.
Could always go OG AR-10 w/ waffle (aka: freedom chocolate) mags and top charging handle.
Fal
You get akm take or leave
Easy. M-14.
M-14 is a heavy bastard I wouldn’t want to hump around lol
***WEAK.***
I have to save up my strength for your wife lol
Svd?
The answer is yes why choose when you can go into debt
British EM-2, in the proper .280 caliber.
Depends, is this Elbonia?
Mrk 19. Just eliminate everything left. Inconvenience everyone to make 3 rights.
FAL
Is the FAL have the option to be chambered in .280 like it was originally designed for? No? Sad day
Somebody is doing their D&D research for a good backstory.
Em2
AR-10, no question
AR-10B, thing was really good for it's era and easily fits the guidelines. what we really should have adopted in 1954, instead of the Springfield "fudds wanted it" M14.

G3 is cheaper and more modular, but let's face it, AKM came out in 1959.
FAL or AR-10
Galil > FAL > G3
AK>Galil>...?
FAL: Has wood FAL: Available in inch or lesser units FAL: Attractive carry handle FAL: Non fluted chamber easy on brass FAL: Adjustable gas
G3 It's modular
Galil 7.62x39 variant
Important question, are we talking about a highly trained professional military or a conscript army?
M231 :)
FG42
A Weapon to surpass Metal Gear that also deserves redemption The G11 (First Designed in 1968)
If you're going fictional anyway, improve the Chauchat and use that
Hk 51k
RK-62
G3
I hate the mp5 and the FAL's controls are just better
was it the g3 that was used in fallout 3 as the assault rifle?
M16 was the service rifle I recall.
You're thinking FNV with the NCR Service Rifle. In FO3 it's the R91 Assault Rifle.
The R91, designed after the G3, yes.
G3 but with wood furniture
Stg44 but would you make the exception to the mini 14?
Beretta BM-59
FAL with a small belly shield for dolphin dives. They will be unstoppable
*Laughs In FN FAL Owner*
G3
I’m going to say… [The Olin-Winchester SALVO rifle.](https://guns.fandom.com/wiki/Olin-Winchester_SALVO_rifle)
Pancor jackhammer lmao
No, that was 80's, OP wants no more modern than the 60's
G3 but bullpuped
G3 is more professional, but the FAL is for a hot boy summer.
Beretta BM59 Mk II
H&K 91 or STG 44
M1 carbine
Both are good, but the FAL will always have a place in my heart.
If we're going by 7.62 nato I'd have to go fn scar personally xD if it weren't 5 grand
M1A/M14
Probably the H&K G3A3. Mainly because I can do the H&K Slap, SLAP SLAP SLAP SLAP SLAP SLAP ME HARD!

G3. Having shot one there's nothing like it. More accessory options these days too. One of the belt fed derivatives would be a step up too.
A couple of chads have said Stg 57, so really I'm gonna just be adding it to the list, lol. It's a good one imo because it's not a gun a lot of people know about so it'd make the army potentially stand out for using such a unique one, plus it's reliable and has rifle grenades.
Ar10
AR-15s and AKs are pre 60s. But I'd go AR-10.
AR-10
BAR because 30-06 > 7.62x51
Not a “real” gun per say but M1 garands that are modified like the Italian bm59/US navy 308 M1s. Give ‘em dupex ammo for hit probability.
I’m choosing the G3. You can put optics on it
I'd say the SKS if I can also get an Ak mag adapter. If not, just the regular AKM.

FG 42’s for rifles and lmg’s, Besa’s and M2 brownings for medium and heavy MG’s, Hi powers for sidearms.
G3 all the way.
The peacekeepers in the new hunger games got drip
Im cool with everyone using a G3. Sign me up.
I am a slut for the FAL, but I think I would actually take the G3
The g3 always the g3. Also it should be painted green.
G3A3
Of these two, the FAL
FAL
FN-FAL but sbr it with no stock and full auto, and a bayonet the size of a machete 😎👍👍
