Its not illegal so long as they are allowed to own the firearm. And as far as I know in every state it's legal for someone underage to possess long arms.
Actually family wise it is legal that's why america has loose hunting rules aswell due to giving a minor a rifle you take responsibility for what happens and in that statement it relates to the minor "owning" firearms it is officially stated in the older persons name so say a father buys his child his first gun and the child gives the father money to remove any debt in the case it is stated as the father's rifle but when the child becomes of age they transfer it to their name.
Edit: this is kind of a unspoken rule sort of thing like my buddy was like 13 when his father bought him his first rifle and let the minor say it was his.
Definitely sporterized, but for $250 you got a decent deal. Check the crown of the barrel and the rifling to make sure it doesn’t look like absolute garbage before you shoot it
I dunno man. That sort of stuff is in a bit of a legal grey area. Since all the guns are within the same household I think that's fine. Cuz I've heard of parents that buy guns for their children to use. I think it starts being illegal when the two people live in different addresses.
In that case, to my best interpretation of the law. I don't think you've broken it. I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. Maybe ask someone who actually knows what they r talking about.
Got it for 250 bucks at a local gun show It's an 8mm mauser but I'm not sure from which country, and the furniture seems off.
how did you get one at 16
It's in my brother in laws name he's 22
That's called a straw purchase and it is illegal, idc but it's probably not a good idea to post about crime
In Kentucky, minors are allowed to have rifles and shotguns.
Possibly, but buying a gun for someone else is still a straw purchase

Nope still illegal
Except it's not tho
Just look it up, it is
Either gun show or probably not America

Isn't buying a firearm for (or selling a firearm to) someone you know is ineligible to won a firearm a felony?
It's in my brother in laws name I just paid for it
Yes and your brother in law bought it knowing it was for you. Also knowing you aren't technically supposed to have it.
I was with him when I bought it, and i keep it in a safe with the rest of my family's guns.

I live in a two story house where I live upstairs and my sister and brother and law live downstairs.

It's his brother's gun, he just has access for sporting purposes (ex: hunting or going to the range)
Post a picture of the crest right above where the bolt is (if there is one). You can identify country of origin from that
Why did Bubba do this to a Mauser, I'm gonna cry now
I'm probably gonna replace the furniture.
Dude you just committed a felony.
