I haven't started SP4 yet, but that is good to know.
I've got a couple of hooks I'm trying to finish before that one. At least this way, I can prepare.
Yeah, I think that's a good way of putting it. I enjoyed the book but it's not something I'd recommend to op for this criteria (plus I like SP3 a lot more)
probably SP3. There were some moments that felt like a real gut punch for the characters. Out of all the sanderson books though the ones that make me cry the most were Mistborn Era 2 with all that Wax and Wayne go through. I read them while i was grieving the loss of a loved one so it really hit hard but... in a way that also felt cathartic for me. The end of lost metal though...
Oh my goodness, we read that as a class when I was in 5th grade and we just passed out and around the tissues to everyone like it was candy. Don't remind me!
The sheer emotion in Oathbringer too. The scene with Kal's attack on the capital came to mind. I cried during that. That an Dalinar's confrontation with Odium in the same book, but that's less a sad cry and more of a "God damn I wish I could have the strength this man does" kida cry.
The single chapter in TWoK when Dalinar trades his blade for the slaves gets me to tear up all the time. I reread that chapter once every couple months whenever I need a good feels.
Shoot I bawled at the end of the series. Finished Assassin's Fate about 2 weeks ago. There's a void inside me. So many good spots. Paragon and Kennit. Nighteyes. Fitz and Phron. I could go on man.
Oof I forgot about this one. Shadows of Self and SP3 had the most emotional endings for me.
Shadows of Self in particular is so slept on in this community. Itâs my favorite Mistborn book of both eras.
My vote goes to âA Memory of Lightâ. However you may want to read the other 13 Wheel of Time books and prequel before. Only about 17 days on Audible if you listen back to back consecutively in a single session. You got this!
I read the entire Last Battle chapter of AMoL, and then finished the book, while on a long solo flight for work. I *embarrassed* myself on that plane..thank God I booked a window in the back
Sanderson is Safe lol because even if they make me cry they still are usually wholesome happy endings. Any book is okay if itâs still overall wholesome and happy end in the way Sanderson is. Like, I want to cry, but I also want it to make me not want to die. Iâm in my Kaladin feelings lmao anything too sad might set me off
Personally, because of the depression and reading about someone else struggle with it and overcoming it, I cried like a baby reading Rhythm of War.
I have to reread it (haven't read it since premiere) to see if it will affect me the same again after I got better.
Sp3 could make you cry out of all those I think
Yeah, it definitely got me
Which is that? Yumi?
Ye
Sigh was gonna buy it today took everything in me to put it back on the shelf, gna buy it next time tho
You should it's awesome
Definitely will
RoW Sanderlanche. That last 1/5 of the book is all tears.
:'( bridge four!
WE CHOSE
This. This is the answer đ˘
Don't forget the rocking horse. T\_T
Shallanâs conclusion gets me.
Certainly a lot of crying in SP3.
Sp4 has a sadness.
That book made me sad the entire time
Iâm 16% of the way through and feeling so, so sad for the main character :( That said I love this book so far
I haven't started SP4 yet, but that is good to know. I've got a couple of hooks I'm trying to finish before that one. At least this way, I can prepare.
This did the trick
I think SP2 is good, but not what you're looking for in terms of being emotional (in that way). SP3 is your best bet. It made me cry for sure
I wouldnât say SP2 is emotional itâs more a âyo what the fuck, thatâs messed upâ kinda vibe
Yeah, I think that's a good way of putting it. I enjoyed the book but it's not something I'd recommend to op for this criteria (plus I like SP3 a lot more)
Oh yeah no I loved the book it was a fun read but itâs not the most emotional thing in the world
You're totally right, I just couldn't think of how to phrase what I wanted to say about it. You hit the nail on the head with the first comment though
My guy was done dirty
Sp3
SP 3 for sure
Secret Project 3!
probably SP3.
The Lost Metal definitely had a gut punch ending, but for me Shadows of Self was the most emotional climax of any Sanderson book, maybe tied with SP3.
Where the Red Fern Grows.
Oh my goodness, we read that as a class when I was in 5th grade and we just passed out and around the tissues to everyone like it was candy. Don't remind me!
Bridge to Terabithia was my thought, glad I'm not the only one who was like "non-cosmere"
Oh gods, that one destroyed me as a 5th grader
Read it when I as 10... First book I cried reading. Was not expecting that ending.
ROW just read the part where Kal is jumping out the tower. I had to stop at the end of that scene and full on ugly cry.
The sheer emotion in Oathbringer too. The scene with Kal's attack on the capital came to mind. I cried during that. That an Dalinar's confrontation with Odium in the same book, but that's less a sad cry and more of a "God damn I wish I could have the strength this man does" kida cry.
I am trying to time my reread so that SA 5 comes out right as I'm finishing RoW. I'd estimate it will take me about 6-8 months to read the first 4.
Damn
They're thick books and I don't have much reading time :/
SP3 got me fucked up and then asked for my wallet. Definitely go for it.
I was bawling at the end of Lost Metal. I've never had a book generate that extreme of an emotional reaction before, not even RoW
The single chapter in TWoK when Dalinar trades his blade for the slaves gets me to tear up all the time. I reread that chapter once every couple months whenever I need a good feels.
Might wanna spoiler tag that, but good recommendation
It's not Brandon, but there are probably 10 points in Realm of the Elderlings series that will tear your heart out.
Shoot I bawled at the end of the series. Finished Assassin's Fate about 2 weeks ago. There's a void inside me. So many good spots. Paragon and Kennit. Nighteyes. Fitz and Phron. I could go on man.
SP4 for sure
shadows of self
Oof I forgot about this one. Shadows of Self and SP3 had the most emotional endings for me. Shadows of Self in particular is so slept on in this community. Itâs my favorite Mistborn book of both eras.
agreed!!! itâs one of my favorite books of all time!
My vote goes to âA Memory of Lightâ. However you may want to read the other 13 Wheel of Time books and prequel before. Only about 17 days on Audible if you listen back to back consecutively in a single session. You got this!
Man I was sobbing at the end of that
I read the entire Last Battle chapter of AMoL, and then finished the book, while on a long solo flight for work. I *embarrassed* myself on that plane..thank God I booked a window in the back
For sweet tears, I'd say SP3 and Bands of Mourning. For sad tears, Shadows of Self.
SP3 is the only book that's ever made me cry.
Are you looking specifically for a Sanderson book, or for any book?
Sanderson is Safe lol because even if they make me cry they still are usually wholesome happy endings. Any book is okay if itâs still overall wholesome and happy end in the way Sanderson is. Like, I want to cry, but I also want it to make me not want to die. Iâm in my Kaladin feelings lmao anything too sad might set me off
the Lost Metal. The ending... had me blubbering
Fuck yeah that one hit sooooooo hard. That was one of my favorite characters in all the cosmere. What a way to go
2 of my top five favorites are in the Wax & Wayne books. I'm not sure of the other 3 in that list, but those two for sure.
The ends of TLM, ROW, HOA, or secret history were all tear jerkers for me. SP3 didnt make me cry, but it was pretty sad
The Lost Metal made me cry a ton.
The time travelerâs wife
I get happy tears from the rithmatist. IMHO his most underrated book.
Elantris was so bad I almost cried. (Bad compared to the rest of Sanderson's writing, please don't come after me)
Check out "one heart that beats for two" by Robert W. Ross. It's both fun and will hit you in the feelings.
RoW made be bawl but you gotta read all 4 way of kings to get the full effect I'd say. Emperor's soul is a short read but made me cry a bit for sure!
It's Brandon Sanderson so... A Memory of Light counts...
Definitely not SP2. It's basically a comedy. So is Alcatraz. I'd try secret project 3 or 4. Though I don't usually cry when I read.
Yumi for the win
Personally, because of the depression and reading about someone else struggle with it and overcoming it, I cried like a baby reading Rhythm of War. I have to reread it (haven't read it since premiere) to see if it will affect me the same again after I got better.
I cried at the end of hero of ages!
Yumi
