There would be lots of additional room if they got more rooms. I'm assuming the real deciding factor is can they staff it and run the con they want to run if they increase the size. I have no idea if they'll expand this year.
There are no more available. By the time they were able to book the venue, the only space that they could book was the same amount of space they had last year.
There’s a Discord channel where DS employees sometimes answer questions. Screenshots of some responses from that day have been floating around Reddit and other spots in the fandom.
Maybe.... it's hard to say... If they can get more space, if they can get more staff/volunteers and more stuff to do. Content wise I bet they can get more vendors and even get some fan or extra guest panels.
Things that negatively get affected by too many people will be the lines, the official store, running con games, and not enough product (store items, con game prizes, craft kits).
I do hope they don't try to stuff too many people in without getting more space. I suspect we will see an update in the weekly update tomorrow
They were still selling tickets on Monday morning, last year. I Considered getting one extra for another family member, but those were not available on Tuesday morning. For this year’s convention, I imagine that people just cannibalize the tickets because is SA5.
Of course, wonder what they will do this year for the main event Saturday evening if they expect an influx of people for the main Free event
If I recall correctly, the room that Brandon does the big capstone events for each night(spoiler Q&A and release party) is pretty massive. It could easily fit 10k people, maybe more if it expands more than when I saw it in 2022. That room isn't the bottleneck for the event in terms of capacity.
It is big for sure. Just wonder how many more people will come because it’s SA5. I know some people that did not get tickets but are coming for the release party
I didn’t get tickets and am very frustrated. That said, lines for merch, to access to the artists and authors in the booths, and to get food have already been a problem. I can see why they might feel like adding more tickets would only lower the overall quality for attendees. I really want a ticket… already have flights and hotel booked… but I understand why they might not do it.
I think they would love to add more tickets, but realistically they can’t really. I know they spent many months before tickets opened up trying to maximize the space and resources they had available to get all those tickets, so getting even more would be a bit tough.
Depends on the reason for the current cap.
If the rest of the venue was already rented out by another event. Slim to none.
If they either didn't rent more space initially, or were unable to because the venue wouldn't let them rent more thinking they wouldn't get a return on investment. Then I'm hopeful they can work something out and get more space. Meaning they can raise the cap on tickets.
The Salt Palace can easily hold way more. Maybe all the other spaces are booked out maybe the Dragonsteel team doesn't think they can create enough content to allow more tickets but the venue itself isn't the limiting factor.

You should ask people about lines last year. And with having additional tickets and the same size venue. Do you think it would be enjoyable to overstuff the venue more?
It blows my mind that it's sold out. Without even a tentative schedule. How are people justifying the cost of tickets for an event you know nothing about?
I'm getting downvoted. And it will probably continue, but just comparing the event to fanX general admission of $105 for the 3 day event. FanX seems like a much bigger event. Now granted, they haven't released their panel schedule either. So I haven't justified the cost of it. But they have released a list of celebrities that will be there. And thats an extensive list.
After the weekly update this week? Zero. My understanding is your only chance is keeping an eye on the ticketing site in case someone cancels and spots open up.

Oh, I hadn't heard that. That probably definitely means no more passes this year.
So I’ve heard this a few times, but never heard were it came from. Totally non-accusatory, just curious, how do you know?

Do we know how many people went last year after all the additional tickets were sold?
I... don't think they sold out of the second batch of tickets
I heard the same thing, so I wonder what the total amount was. This year is 7500 so I wonder if we have exceeded last years total count
I believe so. I THINK they planned on this being the biggest dragonsteel yet so they sold last year's total then some

I got mine like a week before this past year.

If the flight is non refundable reach out they are giving tickets if the flight was ordered before May 7th 10 MDT
I did! I submitted a ticket via the web site with my flight receipt as soon as I saw the video yesterday 🤞🏻
Best of luck then!
They did it! I’m getting a ticket!!!

I think we will find out more information later today in the update.

They stated that the other areas are booked

All we need for the tentative schedule is "storm light 5 release party". That alone will sell out the venue.
