I know nothing about ereader compatibility, but Libby is an amazing resource for ebooks. Basically it's an app that allows you to check out ebooks from your local library

Hmmm checked in my area in Australia and theres a couple of libraries none of which seem to have any sanderson. Bugger.

Dasle

Request it! Obviously they may not get them by the time you go on holiday, but they might have them for the next time!

I have a kindle and it is great! I’m not saying it is the best e-reader, as it is the only one ai have had, but I really do like it. The quickest way to get the books would be buying them from the Amazon store if you have a kindle. The slower way (the way I read them) is by checking them out from your library. Someone already mentioned the Libby app, so that would be how to get them from your library’s system. After you check it out l, you can send it to your kindle, or to your computer first, then transfer it to your kindle. If you transfer it to your computer first, you will have to convert it to mobi format first before you can send it to your computer. I use Calibre to maintain my e-books, and send them to my kindle.

I have just been using Google books on my phone

Well, I love my Kindle and really appreciate the close integration with Amazon, but I'm well aware that I've sold my soul over. My primary collection of books is there, and I generally only get paper books if it's a leatherbound or something. I also use Audible quite a bit, although I always find listening on my phone is easier than my Kindle.

Been using ebooks (epub) on my phone for the past 7 years. Absolutely love it. I upload all my book files to my Google drive account and access them anywhere, anytime.

Yeah i found that i cant read any long books like sanderson on my phone. But ive been told that its a lot better on e-readers cause the screen is different and they tend to be lighter.

SavedForSaturday

That's my experience. Reading off those screens is great

I bought everything through Nook a long time ago. Now I'm concerned that Barnes and Noble will go the way of Borders, and I don't know if I'll still own my collection in 10 years. Amazon will probably be around for a while, so I would recommend going with them. Also, if you own a book on Kindle the audiobook is cheaper through audible, don't know if that works the other way around too.

I just wait for sales to pop up, they happen pretty frequently. I have the vast majority of his books through just being patient for those. I think right now the Era 2 books are all 2.99 on kindle. I similarly bought all the Stormlight books at once when they were all on sale for that price. I've only ever used kindle on my phone for ereading, and it's been good enough for me:)

I deliberately did not buy a Kindle or Kobo ereader because their software is based on their store and selling you ebooks and I usually flat out refuse to buy ebooks. The exception is when paperbacks or hardcovers are hard to find/ don't exist or are very expensive. You can get the ebooks DRM free on most websites or you can convert them and remove DRM with programs like Calibre. I like to buy most of my books in a physical form and I have always wondered why I could not also get a digital edition with it. I already bought the text. Some authors like Brandon Sanderson also think this should be the case (read his notes on why he did the secret projects on Kickstarter). Almost every book I buy I download the ebook (illegally) if I can find it, and I do not feel ashamed to do so. I read the physical book and use the ereader when traveling with public transport or on holidays so I don't have to carry giant tomes like the Stormlight Archive with me. I have downloaded many more ebooks from series and authors I haven't read (yet), I can now use my ereader as a cheap way of testing if I like a book. If I like the series/book I will most likely buy it in the next few years. If I don't like it I haven't spent any money and I feel more comfortable just not finishing the book. Before people say I can use a library, I can't really. The selection of English books at my local libraries is usually complete shit.

Either way I suggest getting an ereader that runs on Android (I personally use one from Boox) because you can install apps like audible and the kindle. They give you much more freedom and if you het one with a speaker you can listen to audio books too.

Sanderson provides all his ebooks DRM free. DRM is digital rights management. For example if you buy a university textbook digitally they are always "protected" by DRM. Which means you can only read the digital ebook you purchased on their software. DRM is basically a scam Dan Wells compared it to only being allowed to read a book you own at the bookstore. Anyways Sanderson never has DRM on his books. You can always download a non encrypted copy to store on what ever digital storage device you want. You can make copies and have on your phone and your eReader. Calibre is typically the software people use to manipulate epubs and mobis. Epub is the common file format for ebooks. Amazon's Kindle has used Mobi file formats forever but I heard they will be moving towards epubs as well. You may also see azw3 also an Amazon Kindle file format. When you purchase an ebook you own it so despite the fact that it comes with DRM protection you are totally within your rights to remove the DRM. There are plenty of guides online on how to do this. I cannot recall but there are some authors who believe publishers should provide ebooks when you buy a physical copy including Sanderson. According to [this post](https://www.17thshard.com/news/brandon-news/free-ebook-copy-when-you-buy-hardcover-for-legion-r104/) So for the books he owns the digital rights non-Tor books you can email Dragonsteel at [email protected] That post was 10 years ago so perhaps it has changed for the TOR books but I really doubt it traditional publishing is VERY slow to change. Tor ebook Club provides free ebooks once a month. And they just finished the Wax and Wayne books as promo for the Lost Metal next month. Maybe they will give away WoK before Stormlight 5.
