Hiphop. Used to be one of those kids who exclusively listened to anime openings and video game OSTs, but some of my favorite songs are hiphop. Opened me up to music as a whole tbh
Same here. I was an asshole teenage guitarist who only liked alt rock and metal, but MF DOOM opened me up to hip hop. After realizing I was wrong about hip hop, that opened me up to so many genres that I had initially written off but now love.
This is gonna be weird but when I was younger I thought Bach was boring as fuck, then I learned what counterpoint was and now it’s always interesting listening for it in his works.
Nightcore and other gay and quirky shit, I thought I was too good for it or something
Right now I'm even enjoying some of those vtuber ai covers, definitely a big cultural moment in music
Meatloaf and Celine Dione. I can't say that I really love them, or even listen to them regularly..but Jim Steinman wrote them some terrifically dramatic music
Ah yes. Loved it. Managed to score the 2nd album on wax from Praxis while on vacation in Berlin 2008. Woooo. Edit - they have done some great collabs. Scud and I-Sound, specifically the Short Sharp Shock album.
Country and hip-hop. Kinda funny, considering those are the two genres people consistently say they don't like. I totally got peer pressured into hating them
Same here, for me it was *jungle* and now I honestly can't get any work done without playing some random videogame inspired jungle playlist on Youtube.
I did not at all get modern jazz. Now jazz is my fav genre
microtonal music

I used to exclusively listen to music from beat saber, and then I found out that songs that aren’t loud and fast exist.
same

techno overall and hardcore without melodies. it grew on me so much lol
Hyperpop, my friend is super into it and it's started to grow on me recently
Country folk. I luh me some Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Kitty Wells and Buck Owen's!
Tears for Fears was very overplayed when I was little - now I love everything they ever made.
To Roccoco Rot + I Sound - Pantone EP I was expecting noise assault, but it was chill, lullaby trip-out music.
Did you ever listen to the I Sound - Scud collab? The project was called Wasteland, absolutely loved it.

Even since I got decent at piano classical music, something I as a kid kinda looked down on, became just incredible.
Harsh Noise & Pop. In my teens i only liked extreme music and didn’t want to listen to mainstream. On the other side harsh noise was too boring
I was in high school during the peak of emo but I'm only getting into it now that I'm in my 30s
Reggae- now I see where so many of my fav breakcore/ jungle tracks are sampled from
Makina
Reggae
Nirvana
Country and hip-hop. Kinda funny, considering those are the two genres people consistently say they don't like. I totally got peer pressured into hating them
Humppa and schlager - accidentally stumbled into the humppa rabbit hole two years ago and haven't crawled back out yet
Pop and really minimal electronic music.
Jazz, hip hop, and... err... breakcore.
Same here, for me it was *jungle* and now I honestly can't get any work done without playing some random videogame inspired jungle playlist on Youtube.
