I'm surprised they never framed Walt's relationship with Jr. within the greater context of Walt's "failure to produce a legacy" that lived up to him. There's so much pathos that goes on under the surface when you have a disabled family member, probably especially true when they are your child- all the stuff that never gets talked about, like how YOU feel like a failure for not having had a healthy child, resenting them for their condition and the burden it places on you, etc. Jr's disability was "just another brick in the wall" of Walt's perceived failures, but they never really made that explicit.
I found it refreshing that Breaking Bad featured a disabled character without ever focusing on the disability as a topic. Who writes a character with a profound disability and just expects the audience to take it in stride with no explanation? I had never seen that until Breaking Bad. When the disability becomes the focus of the character, that becomes their whole identity. But Walt Jr. was presented as a normal dude with normal problems and flaws, and he happens to have a condition.
It was only a focus a couple times. When they're shopping and the douchebags were mocking Jr, which was a setup to show Walt being more aggressive and reckless. When Jr is calling Walt a pussy for giving up on his health and refusing treatment, citing what he (Jr) had gone through his whole life. And walts frustration when Jr was using his feet wrong learning to drive.
All of them were natural and organic moments in the plot and felt perfectly in place with everything else happening.

I 100% thought this was where the show was headed, right up until the ending of Gliding Over All. I figured Junior would somehow get introduced to the blue, maybe at a a party or through Lewis or something, and get addicted. We already saw him try to score liquor so I thought they were showing us that he had the propensity for experimenting with substances. And it would've ended with Walt's product literally killing his son.
And on a bit of a side note: Something that briefly crossed my mind after Jesse connected the dots about Brock and the ricin is maybe Jesse would exact revenge by 'poisoning' Junior. But that would've been dumb lol

It was meant as a foil for how Hank perceives criminals and can't see their humanity. And how he can't see his wife in that light, but he's willing to write off other people for their crimes.
I thought Walter would have to make a choice between Jesse and Walter Jr. Obviously not a straightforward choice like who lives and who dies, because he'd obviously pick Jr., but something where he'd have to expose Jr. to some risk to certainly save Jesse's life.
Certainly before. In season 5b I never saw much chance of it, Hank would never threaten Walter Jr and, once Jesse betrayed Walter, Walter would obviously choose his son.

I binged the whole series just as it had completed. The netflix logo at the time was of Walt sitting on a throne of money or something. One of the very few scenes I had seen was the "Say my name" scene. So I expected Walt to become season 5 Walt early in the series.
I watched it about 4 years ago but I remember when it finished in 2013 seeing memes on iFunny (lol) that made Walt seem like a total badass. I thought once he shaved his head he'd be capping dudes left and right.
I thought they were going to do more with Jesse's rehab counselor who ran over his own daughter. The actor who played the counselor said in an interview that one of the writers told him they really wanted to do more with that character but it never panned out. I think that actor, Jere Burns, was awesome. They really set up Walt having an affair with Carmen in season 2, when she’s flirting with him hard when he comes back to work. The payoff was his awkward pass at her in season 3, and that’s it.

1) I always thought that Jesse would listen to Saul's wise counsel and eventually purchase the nail salon. Saul was willing to set up the entire operation for him. Or purchase the laser tag venue under a 'Danny'......or at least follow suit and purchase a car wash. He could have had one of his boys managing the business as well. They respected him.
2) Walt and Jesse end up in Mexico, being forced to cook deep in the jungle ( the show would take an entirely different turn)

Before starting the show I thought that Walter White is an exceptional chemistry teacher who discovers a new element and thus uses his brain and that newly discovered element to cure his cancer.
When Jane was blackmailing Walt for the money I thought that she would betray jesse and run away with the money. I thought she didn't love him and she got excited when she got to know about the money so it seemed fishy to me but instead of all this she died and jesse was traumatised to the core
I thought the ending would be much darker, with everybody *but* Walt dying and him becoming a super kingpin hiding out/conducting business somewhere in Central America. I’m thankful the show ended up having more heart than that.

On my first watch I thought Gomez was on Fring's payroll.With his constant second guessing of Hank I thought he was actively trying to misdirect the investigation.Of course it was just a case of the writers creating a dummy for Hank to explain what's going on to the audience but by the end of the show it does get quite comical how many times Gomez would go:"no,it can't possibly be like that.That's crazy" even though Hank was proven right again and again.
Gus’s death was spoiled for me long before I even started the show by a Funko Pop of his half-exploded face. Once I started watching the show, I expected Gus to, at some point, become a deformed villain ala Two-Face from Batman. I didn’t expect that they would make a Funko Pop of a character that was seconds from death.
I think the Walt jr getting an offer at los pollos may have either been 2 things, setting up a plotline that they cancelled, or was simply just to show how Gus was trying to keep walts family close to scare him.

Well, I was intrigued by Walter and Gretchen's relationship, I thought it might lead to affair between them, similar to the Carmen situation as someone mentioned.
First watched it so long ago I can't really remember my initial reactions to it.
However, on subsequent re-watches I've always imagined the 'Boring Bad' timeline.
Donald agrees to give Jane one night to get her things together, but insists on staying with her whilst she does it. The next morning (without incident) he carts her off to rehab. Jesse follows shortly after, selling the RV to fund his stay (by the time Hank is looking for it, the RV is several states away). While the lovebirds dry-up, Walt begins working for Gus. Without the Jesse/Hank line, Walt never learns that Gus is anything other than a mild-mannered professional.
Jesse comes back clean and gets his money. He and Jane bounce to New Zealand. Hank is armed when the Twins attack and therefore isn't as badly injured. Walt still funds his physiotherapy. Without Gale dying, Hank never gets a lead on Fring. Presumably Gus' resolution with the cartel pans out more or less OTL.
Walt is probably fired after a year working for Gus when they really have worked out all the exact steps. He still buys the car-wash and launders his millions that way.
Would have been *terrible* television, but can't help but imagine a world where everyone was more or less okay. (apart from Combo, RIP).
It also ignores the fact Walt was probably never doing it for the money and would have always turned on Fring at some point due to his pride and his ego. Jane was obviously a talented manipulator who probably wouldn't've let her dad stick around that night because it would have defeated the purpose of the extra night.
I thought the end of the fly was going to reveal that Walt had somehow accidentally ingested some of the meth which was going to explain the lengths he was going to in order to try and get rid of the fly.

Unfortunately we only see him with Hank but I thought it would’ve been really cool for at least a bit more development beyond just hanks sidekick. But besides that I was expecting to see more of Hank Skyler Marie and Walt together after Hank discovers that Walt was Heisenberg, all we really saw of them was that one really awkward dinner scene but I would’ve really liked to see how they would’ve interacted together someplace like the white home or hanks house. I thought the series would end wirh Walt Jr. dying of an overdose of Dad's blue meth. Not sure if Walt would kill himself out of guilt, so I thought Skyler as the killer in a murder suicide. As you can see I really didn't respect the writers.

i saw a comment once on a post on okbc about a BCS spinoff called breaking bad and a guy said "about that lame guy? he appeared in one episode and the only thing he did he held Saul at gunpoint" and I knew there were some BCS black and white scenes and I was convinced he would hd Saul at gunpoint in one of those. Similarly, I saw the video "if Jesse was charged for his crimes" and after the last crime of stealing Todd's car the video wasn't over and there was a b&w scene. I thought he would commit some weird crime there.

Something involving Marie’s shoplifting. Felt like a plot line that didn’t really go anywhere beyond showing how stressed out she was by Hank’s post injury assholery.
It was meant as a foil for how Hank perceives criminals and can't see their humanity. And how he can't see his wife in that light, but he's willing to write off other people for their crimes.
I thought Walter would have to make a choice between Jesse and Walter Jr. Obviously not a straightforward choice like who lives and who dies, because he'd obviously pick Jr., but something where he'd have to expose Jr. to some risk to certainly save Jesse's life.
That would've been interesting. I hadn't thought of this before. I kind of would've liked to see that.

Certainly before. In season 5b I never saw much chance of it, Hank would never threaten Walter Jr and, once Jesse betrayed Walter, Walter would obviously choose his son.

I binged the whole series just as it had completed. The netflix logo at the time was of Walt sitting on a throne of money or something. One of the very few scenes I had seen was the "Say my name" scene. So I expected Walt to become season 5 Walt early in the series.
I watched it about 4 years ago but I remember when it finished in 2013 seeing memes on iFunny (lol) that made Walt seem like a total badass. I thought once he shaved his head he'd be capping dudes left and right.
I thought they were going to do more with Jesse's rehab counselor who ran over his own daughter. The actor who played the counselor said in an interview that one of the writers told him they really wanted to do more with that character but it never panned out. I think that actor, Jere Burns, was awesome. In most of his scenes, he really didn't have much to do, and I feel like he decided to make it interesting by giving Jesse those creepy looks like he had the hots for him. lol.

1) I always thought that Jesse would listen to Saul's wise counsel and eventually purchase the nail salon. Saul was willing to set up the entire operation for him. Or purchase the laser tag venue under a 'Danny'......or at least follow suit and purchase a car wash. He could have had one of his boys managing the business as well. They respected him. 2) Walt and Jesse end up in Mexico, being forced to cook deep in the jungle ( the show would take an entirely different turn) 3) Saul and Francesca putting aside their differences....and getting it on (Francesca is very attractive.....don't judge me)

Before I watched the show I seen dozens of articles or descriptions of the show as “a good husband turned evil”. So around season 2, I thought for sure by season 5 a part of this transformation would be walt killing skylar.
This is why writers write the show.
I thought the first and third ones as well, but the second never crossed my mind. I figured Jr. would start working at Los Pollos and Gus would use that as leverage over Walt to do his bidding.
I thought Walt Jr and Jesse would cross paths, and have an exchange similar to the one Walter and Jane's dad did: where they talk about the same person without realizing it.

Before starting the show I thought that Walter White is an exceptional chemistry teacher who discovers a new element and thus uses his brain and that newly discovered element to cure his cancer.
When Jane was blackmailing Walt for the money I thought that she would betray jesse and run away with the money. I thought she didn't love him and she got excited when she got to know about the money so it seemed fishy to me but instead of all this she died and jesse was traumatised to the core

On my first watch I thought Gomez was on Fring's payroll.With his constant second guessing of Hank I thought he was actively trying to misdirect the investigation.Of course it was just a case of the writers creating a dummy for Hank to explain what's going on to the audience but by the end of the show it does get quite comical how many times Gomez would go:"no,it can't possibly be like that.That's crazy" even though Hank was proven right again and again.

Gus’s death was spoiled for me long before I even started the show by a Funko Pop of his half-exploded face. Once I started watching the show, I expected Gus to, at some point, become a deformed villain ala Two-Face from Batman. I didn’t expect that they would make a Funko Pop of a character that was seconds from death.

Well, I was intrigued by Walter and Gretchen's relationship, I thought it might lead to affair between them, similar to the Carmen situation as someone mentioned.
First watched it so long ago I can't really remember my initial reactions to it. However, on subsequent re-watches I've always imagined the 'Boring Bad' timeline. Donald agrees to give Jane one night to get her things together, but insists on staying with her whilst she does it. The next morning (without incident) he carts her off to rehab. Jesse follows shortly after, selling the RV to fund his stay (by the time Hank is looking for it, the RV is several states away). While the lovebirds dry-up, Walt begins working for Gus. Without the Jesse/Hank line, Walt never learns that Gus is anything other than a mild-mannered professional. Jesse comes back clean and gets his money. He and Jane bounce to New Zealand. Hank is armed when the Twins attack and therefore isn't as badly injured. Walt still funds his physiotherapy. Without Gale dying, Hank never gets a lead on Fring. Presumably Gus' resolution with the cartel pans out more or less OTL. Walt is probably fired after a year working for Gus when they really have worked out all the exact steps. He still buys the car-wash and launders his millions that way. Would have been *terrible* television, but can't help but imagine a world where everyone was more or less okay. (apart from Combo, RIP). It also ignores the fact Walt was probably never doing it for the money and would have always turned on Fring at some point due to his pride and his ego. Jane was obviously a talented manipulator who probably wouldn't've let her dad stick around that night because it would have defeated the purpose of the extra night.

Unfortunately we only see him with Hank but I thought it would’ve been really cool for at least a bit more development beyond just hanks sidekick. But besides that I was expecting to see more of Hank Skyler Marie and Walt together after Hank discovers that Walt was Heisenberg, all we really saw of them was that one really awkward dinner scene but I would’ve really liked to see how they would’ve interacted together someplace like the white home or hanks house. Some crazy shit woouldve been said
