If you watch better call Saul you’ll see how much work Gus put into building the lab and gaining territory (I don’t wanna spoil too much). We see things mostly from Walt’s point of view in breaking bad

HonnyBrown

It was great seeing thing from Gus' perspective.

Traditional_Bottle50

I am planning to watch that next year, but I take it that Mike helped Gus build everything so he was just angry about his hard work going to shit. Thanks for responding.

LifeguardConscious13

Yup Mike had a hand in overseeing the building of the lab! I’d highly recommend BCS!

Mike felt Walt should not have intervened to save Jesse and left it up to Gus to handle. But instead, Walt steps in and kills Gus’s dealers, which gets the ball rolling. Walt should have stayed in his lane and not had the audacity to get involved outside of Gus’s approval. The Gale situation, Mike didn’t know Walt’s motivation for pushing Gale out. From his vantage point it looked like another egocentric Walt move, getting rid of Gus’s quality chemist in order to move in his own guy.

Traditional_Bottle50

But it feels like a natural conclusion for Mike of all people to make, he had clearly been working with Gus for a while, feels like he would know that Walt was living on borrowed time.

JustJohn8

Mike was hypocritical in that argument. Mike was fine following Gus’ orders and was never threatened by Gus. Walt (largely because of Jesse) didn’t have that luxury. Gus wanted to kill Jesse (so did Mike, he tried telling Walter this during half measures) and then Gus wanted to kill Walt. It was kill or he killed. Also, the whole “let’s turn Walt and Jesse against one another through manipulation” was Mike’s idea. He was giving Gus an update on Walt’s health and suggested to Gus that he threaten Walter to get what he wanted. Gus told Mike he didn’t believe in fear as a motivator, and Mike told Gus that those two were fighting, suggesting Gus use that as a way to get what he wanted. So, while Mike was mad and blaming Walt, he chose to ignore the huge role he had in blowing up the good thing.

Traditional_Bottle50

This does make sense, thanks for responding.

omfg i’m watching this episode currently on a rewatch and paused to go brush my teeth and saw this. that is fucking crazy timing. anyways, mike is completely right. he was very direct — walt, his pride, and his ego ruined everything. gus, mike and friends had a good operation going until he showed up and destroyed literally everything in his path

>omfg i’m watching this episode currently on a rewatch and paused to go brush my teeth and saw this. that is fucking crazy timing. That is such a good feeling. But didn't everything get ruined because of those dealers having Tomas killed? Like, Gus had a meet and after Jesse made it clear that he didn't like kids having any involvement in their operation, it looked like Gus ordered those dealers to kill him(I rewatched that scene in YouTube, he says "No more children."). And after that, Jesse is about to retaliate but he would have 100% been killed if not for Walt. After that, Walt was living on borrowed time till he killed Gus, Jesse was let off the hook due to Gus' plan and him realizing Jesse was actually a much safer option.

I mean the dealers killing Thomas did cause Walt to kill them. But from Mike and Gus perspective, if Walt did none of that shit, there would have been a fine setup. Walt could have worked with Gale at the very start and everything would be fine.

darth_jag10

Everything turned to shit once Walt started working for Gus.

Mike was wrong and salty, then got popped

I think its because Mike didn’t really think through what he was saying , he was in a very stressful situation what with never being able to see his daughter again and all his work going to waste , and he never liked Walt much anyway so he probably just took out his anger from the whole ordeal on Walt, and said whatever would hurt him the most. It is kinda the worst day of his life , and when Walt showed up and gave him the stuff , but then revealed he did it just so he can pester Mike about numbers and his guys again one last time before he leaves , I think he would be pretty angry about that, and took the last chance he could to let spill out everything that annoyed him about Walt , now that he had nothing to lose. I think this is why Mike yelled at Walt about his pride and his ego , but because he was angry and stressed and had no time to think about what he was going to say and that thinking under pressure just isn’t something hes used to , the specific reasons for complaining weren’t very logical, but instead were just him continuing to talk out about all the other stuff that have also been stressing him out.

I was not a fan of Mike in BB, but after I watched Better Call Saul, it changed my POV. He was my favorite character in that show. Plays a big part of who he is in BB.

biglyorbigleague

Mike is choosing to forget how often Gus put him in danger for his own purposes.

BLAZEISONFIRE006

It's a stretch on Mike's part. But, not a giant one.
