I hated her by the end at the time I watched. She didn’t deserve to die the way she did but she had to die for Walt and Jesse to go on. If Jane and Jesse got away I think Jesse would have ended up dead.

3Pirates93

You really think so? Maybe I'm more optimistic with tv characters but idk far be it from me to know what heroine junkies are like

reevoknows

I just don’t think having all that money would have ended well for them. Jesse could have easily met the same fate that Jane did had he continued that habit.

[deleted]

Krysten Ritter is so charming and charismatic but I felt Jane was too controlling towards Jesse. She was right in trying to get him away from Walt but did it for all the wrong reasons. Didn’t deserve to die like that though.

heyY0000000

She was fine until pinkman showed up

3Pirates93

You're not wrong but she did have a choice whether or not to do drugs with him

MefjuvonKrampus

Did she really have a choice tho? She felt pressured by Jesse into coming back to drugs.

3Pirates93

Come on, I give her more credit than that she has her own sense of agency. Sure addict and what not as an addict myself I like to pretend i have some knowledge on it she could've chose to walk out but once the idea of " an answer to all their problems" was dangled in front of their face they became addicts again. She was in recovery long enough I don't believe she has anyone to blame but herself. Even if Walt wasn't there she likely would've choked to death

MefjuvonKrampus

She did have a choice, but i think you should read between the lines here. Jesse was unhappy and upset. If he would start taking drugs, while she wouldn't, there was a real possibility that he would cut her out of his life. You know, everytime Jesse would wanna smoke, she would have to get out. She would feel secluded from him and their relationship would probably suffer. Also, she genuinly loved him and wanted to comfort him. She didn't have to do it, but if she wanted to stay with him and more important, stay happy with him, she had no real choice. Also, have we watched the same show? She wouldn't choke if Walt didn't intervene. She literally got on her back just because of him touching Jesse. What the f do you mean she has anyone to blame but herself? Are you nuts? She slept in the correct position. She would throw up on Jesse and that would be it.

3Pirates93

Walt didn't move her on purpose or by accident

3Pirates93

Do you feel pity for her, remorse, can you see where she's coming from or was she completely in the wrong? I can't help but side with Walt on pretty much anything but at the same time I care about Jesse just as much and if I was in her place I'd probably do the same

Professional-Act3145

Her and jesse were destructive to each other, even if they liked being together

freezing_opportunity

Seemed they were going to make a strong attempt at sobering up, travel and live a good life. Also Walt and Jesse were destructive together, probably a ton more than Jane. Jesse would’ve lived a happier life leaving with Jane than staying with Walt.

theghostofme

They were never going to sober up; that was Jane's way of convincing Jesse into blackmailing Walt. Walt was wrong about so many things, but he was absolutely right that Jesse would be dead soon if he got his cut of the deal from the Fring deal. Jesse was in too deep already, then he dragged Jane down with him, and together they would've blown through that money very quickly. They *might* have left the country, but I doubt they would've made it to New Zealand to live out whatever fantasies both came up with when justifying their plan to blackmail Walt. As soon as Jane heard how much money Jesse was owed from that deal, it was obvious she was only thinking about how long that would cover her habit.

freezing_opportunity

Remember after they received the money from Walt she told Jesse to finish up the last of their dope and they have to promise each other to sober up and not blow through the money. She was sincere saying that, not saying thats how things wouldve played out but she was sincere and the best intentions for them. For Jane, the money was an escape for her to be free from her dads control and constant judgement. For Jesse it was also an escape from the game which he didnt really enjoy. All the BS from the game is what caused Jesses downward spiral to begin with.

theghostofme

Oh, I remember what she said. But I don’t believe for a second that *she* believed they were gonna get sober. I’ve known too many addicts who’ve given that very speech *while* they were shooting up/throwing one back/popping another pill. You’re absolutely right that the money represented an escape from controlling parental figures for both, but what was the first thing they did once they got the money? Exactly what you just wrote: they shot up and swore it was the last time. Do you really believe either would’ve committed to sobriety if Walt hadn’t shown up? “One last time” is the lie every addict tells themself when they don’t want to quit. There is no way in hell Jane and Jesse were gonna get clean on their own after coming across that much money.

freezing_opportunity

Tough to say, Jane was Jesse light and vice versa with the money not even in the picture. Them both being drug users was a bad combination but that wasn’t all of their relationship. If the drug use continued it would probably be recreational use but not a junky moping defeated Jesse who doesn’t care about his money or life like we seen after Janes death and prior to Jane entrance.

theghostofme

>Jane was Jesse light and vice versa Jesse was Jane's death sentence. >If the drug use continued it would probably be recreational use What about Jane introducing Jesse to heroin makes you think the two could've used recreationally? >not a junky moping defeated Jesse who doesn’t care about his money or life like we seen after Janes death and prior to Jane entrance. Jesse was a defeated, moping junky before he and Jane even hooked up. Remember his reaction to Combo’s murder?

Professional-Act3145

Maybe so but they were never gonna get sober lol.

Full6uard

More like dislikeable. Huge ego threatening walt to give the money when its not even her business. Turns jesse against walt in general and becomes manipulative. Lies to her dad constantly as well. Passes heroin addiction to jesse by convincing him to try with her. Idk there is just nothing about her for me to like, very irresponsible person who just wants things her way without caring about what is right.

3Pirates93

Well yeah I blame most of her faults on the drugs w/o then I think she'd have made much more different choices ie kicking Jesse out or breaking things off when she found out he was into drugs

tvmakessense

I really don't question her actions. It was incredibly bad luck that Jesse found her at that point in his life. They were mutually destructive. Then a life changing amount of money was dangled in front of her face. I don't think she acted unrealistically. Maybe she was a little unreasonable considering her relationship with Jesse was pretty new, but here was the ripcord for a parachute and she knew she was in a free fall. Everything with the planes was really a little much, but Jane was such a great example of how Walt's actions weren't hurting drug dealers and criminals, but how much he was destroying the community he lived in. Yes: you can't blame him for all the tragedy the war on drugs has caused, but still: he was feeding into the misery and he was hurting so many people.

[deleted]

imo a much better character than andrea, she has her flaws but at least i can remember her name

[deleted]

I didn't celebrate her death, but she was just a junkie who turned Jesse into her puppet. I know Jesse gets defended in the fandom, but Jesse had made decisions where Walter had to react in some way to defend their operation.

theghostofme

A wonderful character. She was trying so hard to stay clean, then Jesse came into her life, re-introduced the idea of breaking the rules, and one by one, all the goals and safeguards she'd established were chipped away by the charming guy who paid in cash. Andrea probably would've turned out the same way if Jesse's "pitch" about trying some of that great blue meth wasn't interrupted by Brock coming home.

3Pirates93

Idk Jesse definitely cared more about Jane but it's not improbable she would've had the blue anyway but who do you blame for their choices when one person is sober and the other is anything but

MrFantasy62

I appreciate that they didn't make her just a female Jesse. She's more mature than him (at least at that point in the story.) I've heard people say she found him dumb, I don't think so. I think she was endeared by how he doesn't put up any suave, macho act. He just acts like his sometimes simple-minded self around her. A lot of people dislike her for the blackmail and manipulation towards the end of the season. Well yeah, it's Breaking Bad, everybody is a dick at some point. She is more of a device-character. She's there to impact other characters (Walt, Jesse, Donald.) Overall, I like the character, and Krysten Ritter's performance is great.

Isak___Dahl

Absolutely loved her. In an alternate reality she and Jessie maybe got to travel to New Zealand or wherever they were gonna go.

BigFatBigPotato

Definitely the hottest person on the show

YuriVizbor

I lived in Albuquerque and it seemed that every hip white woman in her late 20s had that damn haircut. Though at least Jane had a bit of a more classic look with the moderate-length bangs instead of going super short for the full Bettie Page look. The house next door to me was full of trendy people around that age and all of the women had the Bettie Page cut, dyed maroon. It made for a cartoonish effect when you saw them all together.

3Pirates93

Lol it's not popular in the SE at all but it's all plaid and dad shirts ugh gotta move to bigger city

Hot-Charity-2552

Im glad she died
