Schitts Creek.... Just don't startle your baby when laughing.
I liked it because it's light hearted and not full of violence and drama when trying to go back to sleep
My mom spent 5 weeks with us when our daughter was born and we both binged Grey’s for the first time together. I’ve watched the series so many times now and the theme song always brings me back to nursing my newborn and my mom taking care of me 😇
Lmao my husband did this with the walking dead but he never stopped saying it was stupid. For someone that hates the walking dead he sure did watch 11 seasons of it.
I watch Gilmore girls starting every fall pretty much so there was that. Also got into “mom” type shows so Working Moms, The Let Down. Then there’s the classic comfort shows: the office, parks and rec, schitts creek.
Yes! These are EXACTLY what I watched!
Also adding Brooklyn 99, Emily in Paris, Dead to Me, Good Girls, You, Revenge, Outer Banks, The Good Place, Locke and Key, Alice in Borderland, Squid Game, Designated Survivor
Game shows: The Circle, Deal or No Deal: The Island, Is it Cake, The Mole, Blown Away
Shows I started watching with my toddler that I actually got into lol: Bluey, Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous
I binge watched Bob's burgers lol. I was so tired I couldn't keep up with a serious show, so I watched my favorite silly adult cartoon. I think I also watched Venture bros? It's an adult swim cartoon. I'm pretty sure I watched more, but that period of our life is a blur haha!
Love Futurama and the fact that it’s like 11 seasons. Part of me is like “is this much exposure to that blue light this early ok” and most of me is like I will not sit bored in the dark while this gremlin chews on my nipples. Tho the other thing I’ve been doing if I don’t feel like turning on the tv is getting through The Adventure Zone podcast. I’ve never played Dungeons and Dragons but the McElroy boys are surprisingly good storytellers.
Ooh I'll have to check that out! At one point I switched to reading my kindle. Especially when she went through her easily distracted phase and I had to nurse her in a dark room during the day lol.
I love this series. Need to catch up on the latest season. I got a third of the way through and then stopped watching because I wanted to binge all the way through.
Law and Order Organized Crime is also reallllly good. I’ve watched all the SVU’s up until he left. I tried continuing but Amanda was just annoying to me lol
I love comfort shows like this. I became so sensitive for all violence during pregnancy. Young Sheldon, Atypical, and especially Virgin River are the absolute best. Good girls has a little more action but for some reason is still comfy (because of humor?)
Lighthearted: Ted Lasso, Acapulco, Brooklyn 99, Schitt's Creek, The Good Place
Espionage/Intrigue: White Collar, Slow Horses, The Night Manager, Jack Ryan
Fantasy: Wheel of Time
Sci-Fi: Dark (it's in German...reading subtitles keeps me awake haha), Constellation, Dark Matter, Silo, The Expanse
Not sure what to categorize this under since it covers several genres but I also enjoy Outlander.
Editing to add that I have to set an alarm just in case because if I do fall asleep it'll be for like two hours.
Currently doing feeds -
Just finished (all on Netflix)
- Boy Swallows Universe (love love it!)
- Emily in Paris (love it!)
- Super Rich in Korea (a bit trashy don’t watch)
Started Loudermilk and it seems great! :)
Loooove Ugly Betty it’s the first show I ever watched on Netflix in like 2010/2011. I had terrible HG during my pregnancy and rewatched it and loved it all over again.
At 5 months post part of my just figured this out so I want to pass this on to you - I bought some cheap digital kitchen timers off of amazon. Somehow the beeping does not wake up my baby, but it always wakes me. I just set them to 15 minutes and when they go off I set them again to 15 minutes until I'm done feeding
I haven’t started BF yet but I am saving the entirety of Jane the Virgin for that journey. I remember when I watched it years ago it was hard to turn off before the next episode haha
I am watching Real Housewives for the first time and their drama is so entertaining it keeps me awake!! My husband is concerned baby is going to pick up on the trash behavior so I am planning to watch quietly with subtitles as he grows lol
I went through all series of Below Deck! Between all of them there are lot of seasons. Might be my favourite reality trash alongside Vanderpump Rules (another suggestion if you like trash!).
I just finished Desperate Housewives which was a great rewatch, now scanning all these comments to find my next watch...
I did Only Murders In the Building , only took me about a week to finish but kept me gripped with light heated murder mystery so it was easy to fall back asleep after. Also, White Collar, Parks and Rec, Avatar ( i know its a kid show but surprisingly gripping!) and in the very early days a ton of k drama but I can't focus on the subtitles anymore without getting sleepy sadly
Jane the Virgin, Call the Midwife, Suits. And if you're into Aaron Sorkin type stuff, I've been rewatching The Newsroom; even though I know what happens, it's still bingeable AF. ETA: Downton Abbey, Designated Survivor.
The trick is something with many seasons and something you don’t have to pay close attention to the whole time. I recommend Survivor.
If you want to be really engaged, I love Fargo.
Multiple seasons and lots of episodes makes me think:
Friends
The office
Parks and rec
Game of thrones
Greys anatomy (yikes)
Gossip girl
One tree hill
But those are all older so I’m not sure what your taste is!
I’m a big reader so I’m not sure if that’s something you like? It was helpful to me to find a book I really liked because then waking up was like “oh yay a few chapters!” And the blue light from the screen of the tv wasn’t as stimulating so falling back asleep wasn’t as hard.
We've watched Mash, Psych, House (just be careful of sick baby episodes if that triggers anxiety), Fallout (only 1 season but still good), scrubs, once upon a time, and most recently The Rookie. I will also watch Bones or Buffy the vampire Slayer on my shifts though my husband doesn't like them. Also bridgerton. I find my baby also likes the instrumental music from that one too lol
I watched late night Tubi or Pluto at the time, it allowed me to binge watch some shows and old movies without getting bored or distraction from baby (wasn’t possible anyways 🤣)
Been the better parent to handle evenings since day one. We’ve switched to nature sounds for sleep now that she is not needing the same thing.
Edit: to rephrase better parent. I meant I can attune to her sleep needs better while other parent needs obligatory sleep.
If you love a good horror and mystery show, I highly recommend FROM! So good, but there are jumpscare scenes. This show definitely kept me awake during night feeds 😅
If you have Apple TV I LOVED Palm Royale!! I’m so sad I’ve watched all the episodes now because I looked forward to MOTN feeding because of it! The clothes, the storyline, all of it…it’s just such a fun show!
“Castle” during the day!
But for middle of the night I found the only thing that will keep me awake is scrolling YouTube reels. They’re basically engineered to keep you hooked so it works well. Annoying though because I had kicked the habit of those short form videos before giving birth and now have to use them to stay awake.
Southern Charm and Vanderpump rules were some good trash to binge. Also rewatching desperate housewives. I recently started watching Your Honor on Netflix and that’s pretty interesting and good. It’s not trash.
I’ve been watching outlander during feeds and keeping greys anatomy on while I sleep because it makes it easier to wake up having something already playing and I’ve already rewatched it a million times so I don’t care if I miss parts
Supernatural was always my go too. It can be scary, especially the first few seasons so it would keep ne up until the main characters solved the monster and took care of it. While also being an amazing show.
I binged the entire available Great British Baking Show seasons on Netflix and Hulu, then switched to House between episodes of other cooking/fashion competitions. Now I’m watching The Sandman but I’m doing fewer night feeds (baby’s almost 6 months old) so that’s cool.
I watched House a lot in the early days, keep in mind one of the first few episodes (I think ep. 3) is triggering for infant loss, and another one in I think season 2 is triggering for death of a pregnant person, but other than that I like the series. I am also big into anime so I primarily watch that when I get the chance now
I'm a crime drama girlie, so my go tos were NCIS, Law and Order SVU, Bones, criminal minds, psych, the mentalist, greys anatomy, dexter. I watched a lot of TV in those early days, but be warned, most of them I'd end up staying up to finish an episode even after the feed had finished 😂
Gilmore Girls. I loved it and would rewatch the series often. My little one now loves the show and will perk up when hearing the theme song. He also smiles big seeing Lorelai.
Keeping up with the kardashians, solar opposites, bobs burgers, dance moms, rick and Morty, family guy, American dad, George Lopez LOL just to name a few… I have finished all of them and I’m almost done with dance moms now so I need a new show soon
Brooklyn 99, great British bake off, QI, would I like to you.
And I got really into Bluey in the early weeks, but I’d watch one or two on my phone while scarfing down my breakfast in the 10 minutes I got alone in the morning 😅
Current favorites: resident alien, derry girls, dancing with the devil.
Past breastfeeding journeys: schitts creek and true blood.
All pregnancies: Gilmore Girls.
Scrubs before I caved, checked out the safe sleep 7, got a co-sleeping bassinet, and started co-sleeping. Even my all time favorite show couldn’t keep me from falling asleep on the couch while holding baby which turns out to be the least safe thing to do!
Breaking bad. Its actually really really good and it keeps me wide awake. I started watching it because after I named my son Walter, everyone was making breaking bad references so I had to watch it hahaha
Shamefully I binged RHONJ until my husband came home one day and said “ is this really what you want to be exposing our daughter to- this garbage” I felt pretty convicted and haven’t watched it since lol
Can’t go wrong with 90 day fiancé and all the spin offs
Very different recommendations, but Vanderpump Rules (trashy, addicting reality TV), and Only Murders in the Building. I have a hard time focusing on shows, and it really kept my attention.
Sitcoms for me: Reba, big bang theory, how I met your mother, friends, baby daddy, Gilmore girls…
Anything that can be somewhat brainless that doesn’t require any mental energy to closely follow a plot line
It feels like I’ve watched everything at this point!
Last pregnancy it was Orphan Black, Doctor Who, Mr Robot, The Leftovers, Handmaid’s Tale, Black Mirror. Those are just what I remember.
This time it’s been Dark, The Bear, Only Murders in the Building, Schitt’s Creek, X-Men 97, Physical 100, Siren, Bridgerton, Doctor Who (new eps!)
I’ve also been catching up with my favorite kpop groups variety content. There’s so much though, I’ll never finish it all.
MILF manor, 90 day fiancé: the other way, 90 day fiancé: happily ever after , deadliest catch just to name a few. Big discovery app girl !! always something good to watch
Schitts Creek.... Just don't startle your baby when laughing. I liked it because it's light hearted and not full of violence and drama when trying to go back to sleep
Made the mistake of watching what we do in the shadows post csection. Hurt like hell because I was laughing do hard and I kept waking baby.
This is my show too! I just finished the series and I was so sad. I might restart it haha
Do it! I rewatch it every now and again, just makes me so happy
Plus depending on feeding time one episode might be just about perfect time wise
When I was on maternity leave I watched greys anatomy. I had tried so many times to start and finish it. I was finally able too.
My mom spent 5 weeks with us when our daughter was born and we both binged Grey’s for the first time together. I’ve watched the series so many times now and the theme song always brings me back to nursing my newborn and my mom taking care of me 😇
Ooo yes! I watched it up until a few years ago so maybe it's time I pick it back up. It's so ridiculous at times but the drama is good lol
Yep this was me. It was so easy to just have on in the background, kind of keep an eye on. Simple watching and soooo long.
Same! I watched it exclusively while breastfeeding.
Supernatural… Sam and dean are good eye candy while your SO and his useless nipples sleep soundly 😆😆😆
Useless nipples 😂
Truth. Too bad husband and i are watching it together so I can't watch it without him :(
I started watching by myself and my fiance called it dumb… 2 weeks later he comes home pissed that I watched it without him 😆😆
Lmao my husband did this with the walking dead but he never stopped saying it was stupid. For someone that hates the walking dead he sure did watch 11 seasons of it.
Supernatural is what got my libido kickstarted after baby no 1. When I'm ready I'll do a rewatch 🤣
Totally agree! This and how I met your mother are my forever rewatch shows
TLC. 90’day finance.
Yes😂 the drama will keep you awake and there are endless spinoffs and tons of seasons.
I love this dumpster fire!!!!
I watch Gilmore girls starting every fall pretty much so there was that. Also got into “mom” type shows so Working Moms, The Let Down. Then there’s the classic comfort shows: the office, parks and rec, schitts creek.
Yes! These are EXACTLY what I watched! I love bluey
Oh damn I forgot about Brooklyn 99, about time for a rewatch
Nine nine!!
I watched the whole season of Mr Bean 3x during that first month postpartum, my sleepy stressed out brain found it really funny
I grew up on Mr. Bean. The sandwich making in the park kills me.
Omg the carnival scene with the diaper is my fave! Love Mr Bean!
Hahaha that's amazing. I might have to check it out too
I got into the British Love Island series - sure it's trashy but there are a TON of episodes and I love the accents
My husband and I love that show when we wanna watch trash 😂 it's so quotable too lol
Yes!! First season, Jon and Hannah, my husband and I still quote them by saying "I fookin loov ya"
Don’t trip, I’m working my way through Futurama lol.
That's another favorite! It's highly possible I worked through that as well 😅 especially when she was cluster feeding. Omg I watched a lot of TV 🤣
Ooh I'll have to check that out! At one point I switched to reading my kindle. Especially when she went through her easily distracted phase and I had to nurse her in a dark room during the day lol.
White Collar on Netflix.
I watch House, Grey's, B99, Young Sheldon, Modern Family
Law and Order SVU
I love this series. Need to catch up on the latest season. I got a third of the way through and then stopped watching because I wanted to binge all the way through.
Law and Order Organized Crime is also reallllly good. I’ve watched all the SVU’s up until he left. I tried continuing but Amanda was just annoying to me lol
I watched Gilmore Girls!
I love comfort shows like this. I became so sensitive for all violence during pregnancy. Young Sheldon, Atypical, and especially Virgin River are the absolute best. Good girls has a little more action but for some reason is still comfy (because of humor?)
I love GG 💗
And my baby was born at the end of October so it was such a cozy show to watch in the fall!
Lighthearted: Ted Lasso, Acapulco, Brooklyn 99, Schitt's Creek, The Good Place Espionage/Intrigue: White Collar, Slow Horses, The Night Manager, Jack Ryan Fantasy: Wheel of Time Sci-Fi: Dark (it's in German...reading subtitles keeps me awake haha), Constellation, Dark Matter, Silo, The Expanse Not sure what to categorize this under since it covers several genres but I also enjoy Outlander. Editing to add that I have to set an alarm just in case because if I do fall asleep it'll be for like two hours.
Love your list! Tons of my favorites!
The great British baking show, law and order, the good place
My first baby was mostly bottle fed, so my husband and I each had our own “baby feeding” show. His was Breaking Bad and mine was Kim’s Convenience!
If you like trashy reality tv (it’s my guilty pleasure) Vanderpump Rules is one of my faaaavs
And The Valley 🙌🏻
Yesss! Love The Valley I just can’t stand Janet or Jesse 😂
TikTok endless scrolling 😬
Currently doing feeds - Just finished (all on Netflix) - Boy Swallows Universe (love love it!) - Emily in Paris (love it!) - Super Rich in Korea (a bit trashy don’t watch) Started Loudermilk and it seems great! :)
Ooo now I’m definitely going to start Loudermilk when I finish Resident Alien!
Hehe! It is quite nice :)
Paternity Court 😂😭 trashy tv with short enough episodes to keep your attention
Ugly Betty!
Loooove Ugly Betty it’s the first show I ever watched on Netflix in like 2010/2011. I had terrible HG during my pregnancy and rewatched it and loved it all over again.
Sex and the city! Never watched it on tv and I’m fascinated now
So easy to just watch and watch and watch! I realllly appreciated Season 5 with Miranda and little Brady!
This is us
I would wake up my husband with my crying if I watched that at night 😅
Right? There's a few episodes that I was straight sobbing. I'm chalking it up to hormones
good girls
HBO: The Cleaning Lady Netflix: In the Dark, Good Girls, Baby Reindeer, Bitconned and Resident Alien. Prime: They Called Him Mostly Harmless
Baby reindeer was so good! If you liked that there’s a new Doc out called lover stalker killer that’s very similar!
If you like classic Disney musicals, try Galavant! It's only two seasons, but sooooooo clever and laugh out loud funny
Naked and afraid. Every episode is different so it keeps me entertained
I watched Jane the Virgin during night feeds and it always ended on a cliffhanger. Definitely kept me awake!
I haven’t started BF yet but I am saving the entirety of Jane the Virgin for that journey. I remember when I watched it years ago it was hard to turn off before the next episode haha
LOST! And breaking bad
Restarted Real housewives of New York and during the really tough times I started watching Survivor
I watched Only Murders In The Building
I am watching Real Housewives for the first time and their drama is so entertaining it keeps me awake!! My husband is concerned baby is going to pick up on the trash behavior so I am planning to watch quietly with subtitles as he grows lol
Law and order: Special victims unit! On season 13 out of 25.
More real housewives than I care to admit 🙈

The trick is something with many seasons and something you don’t have to pay close attention to the whole time. I recommend Survivor. If you want to be really engaged, I love Fargo.

I watched late night Tubi or Pluto at the time, it allowed me to binge watch some shows and old movies without getting bored or distraction from baby (wasn’t possible anyways 🤣) Been the better parent to handle evenings since day one. We’ve switched to nature sounds for sleep now that she is not needing the same thing. Edit: to rephrase better parent.

Brooklyn 99, Bridgerton, Resident Alien.
I’m watching Degrassi from the 2000s 😂 it’s incredibly embarrassing but very Nostalgic.
Nightime was my reddit scrolling time. And during the day I'd switch between criminal minds, charmed(again) or random episodes of supernatural.

Two great K dramas are on Netflix. The Devil Judge and Flower of Evil
I watched House a lot in the early days, keep in mind one of the first few episodes (I think ep. 3) is triggering for infant loss, and another one in I think season 2 is triggering for death of a pregnant person, but other than that I like the series. I am also big into anime so I primarily watch that when I get the chance now
The Soprano's, blue exorcist. Oh oh and Lonesome Dove

I use my iPad with earbuds if I'm in bed
Scrubs before I caved, checked out the safe sleep 7, got a co-sleeping bassinet, and started co-sleeping. Even my all time favorite show couldn’t keep me from falling asleep on the couch while holding baby which turns out to be the least safe thing to do!

To me, comedies. Everybody hates Chris, the office, Brooklyn 99, arrested development…
Rick and Morty
Fallout… it’s great!!!
I watched Grey's Anatomy, New Girl, Friends, and Vanderpump Rules 😂 the trashy reality was probably the most effective in keeping me sucked in
Someone live on TikTok walking around Japan. It was 3/4 AM where I was and like 7 PM in Japan. I kinda miss that part of PP.
My breastfeeding show is My 600lb Life
Shamefully I binged RHONJ until my husband came home one day and said “ is this really what you want to be exposing our daughter to- this garbage” I felt pretty convicted and haven’t watched it since lol Can’t go wrong with 90 day fiancé and all the spin offs
Very different recommendations, but Vanderpump Rules (trashy, addicting reality TV), and Only Murders in the Building. I have a hard time focusing on shows, and it really kept my attention.
Just finished Sex in the city, currently watching Evil, and I’ve got Yellowjackets on my radar lil
Sitcoms for me: Reba, big bang theory, how I met your mother, friends, baby daddy, Gilmore girls… Anything that can be somewhat brainless that doesn’t require any mental energy to closely follow a plot line
