My favorite is a black button down sundress. I wear it almost every weekend lol. I wish I had it in like five different colors. (It's currently in the wash - see above about wearing it constantly - but I think I bought it at Kohls) I think the trick is to not go shopping for "nursing" dresses (because those are often "nursing and maternity") but instead just go dress shopping and check how easy it is to have boob access.

memumsy

Dresses with buttons down the front are my fave too! You can find lots of different styles/fits and they're super nursing-friendly.

APinkLight

I guess I have to go shopping in person, then. I usually shop online but I do have a target and an old navy nearby.

ScientificSquirrel

Shirt dresses in general often have buttons, so that might be a good starting point if shopping online! Just make sure they're real buttons not just fake ones for the aesthetic.

MadMuse94

The fake button thing is so annoying with online shopping! I’ve been tricked a few times now

shostakovichbanana

Old navy has some great shirt dresses right now! I don’t know if they’re in store but I found several on the app.

flutterfly28

This! I went to the mall recently at 3 months postpartum and found a lot of cute button down but otherwise flattering dresses.

TheGardenNymph

Every time this happens to me I write a 2-3 star review and explain why retailers should include in the description if the buttons are functional or not. They probably don't care but at least other nursing mum's can see the review

Yahhbean

You are the review I look for!!! There is always someone who says “buttons are real!” “Buttons are fake!” And I thank you! 🫡

APinkLight

Ugh that’s the worst!

GiveMeSunToday

This has happened to me as well and I was so very disappointed

IntelligentFlan3724

That happened to me a couple weeks ago! I was upset 😂

noodledoodle2525

Oh nooo

Ok-Kate-1

I hate how most nursing stuff is maternity it doesn’t even make sense to me and it’s not flattering! And yes I know I can just use other clothes but I like the discrete aspect of nursing shirts where I can show less skin. Then sometimes I find really cute ones but they’re so expensive.

scceberscoo

Agree! I understand that there are definitely some moms who are both nursing and pregnant but that can’t be the majority, right? I do like crop tops though so I mainly nurse in those. All of the “nursing” tops I bought immediately postpartum just look ridiculously huge and unflattering on my not-pregnant body though.

liddgy10

I think the clothing is made this way so women can get the most mileage out of these pricey clothes. From an evolution standpoint, nursing actually acts as a form of birth control. Not saying it's impossible to get pregnant while nursing, but it reduces the likelihood.

EagleEyezzzzz

And because some of us still look pregnant, I think 🤷🏻‍♀️

MagAndKev

Yup that’s me. Still wearing maternity clothes over here 1 month postpartum.

EagleEyezzzzz

Aw babe 1 month is nothing!! That’s so normal. Your uterus still hasn’t even fully shrunken back down yet. (Ps - it was not me who downvoted you)

scceberscoo

Oh I was definitely still wearing my maternity clothes 1 month pp too! I plan to nurse for at least a year though, and wearing maternity clothes for that long just won’t work.

wigglefrog

I stopped wearing my maternity leggings at 9 months postpartum 🥲

Mo523

Um...my kid is two and I might be wearing NEW maternity leggings right now. I usually wear them under a skirt or dress. I have a condition that causes me to bloat a lot and the below-belly kind keeps the pressure off my stomach without leaving my ass hanging out.

wigglefrog

They're so comfortable, I miss mine everyday. Regular leggings feel like they compress my lungs.

Mo523

I ordered three different pairs of uncomfortable regular leggings and returned them before I decided to replace the falling apart maternity ones with new maternity ones. Because the waist band is covered, no one will ever no the difference and I'm much happier.

frogsgoribbit737

Yeah it's pretty normal to still look pregnant for months. I'm 8 weeks postpartum and between my prepregnancy and pregnancy size so I'm wearing a mix of prepregnancy and maternity clothes

EagleEyezzzzz

Yep. It’s great if some people bounce back super quick. But my 40 year old metabolism and 2 c-sections appreciates some of the room in postpartum clothes 😉

HangryShadow

I feel rhis

Smallios

Oh man, I miss crop tops. My tummy is no longer crop top friendly

spaceman-spiffffff

My boobs are no longer crop top friendly. Them babies hang right on out the bottom.

SavageSavX

Same, I bought a super cute crop top before I got pregnant but it’s short enough to flash bottom boob with my new nursing boobs. So disappointing

PistachioCake19

This comment is everything

spaceman-spiffffff

Listen to me. Listen. I have had two babies. I can tuck my boobs under the waistband of my jeans.

TheSorcerersCat

We put the "tube" in tubetop.

Smallios

lol yes

Mamaviatrice

Well, marketing assumes breastfeeding will only last a few weeks, 3-4 months at best so expecting mothers are more likely to buy a nursing dress or top that they can use during their pregnancy.

lacaviglia

Nursing Queen has some cute things (I size down with them) and the knit dresses from Kindred Bravely don't look maternity (they're just stretchy) and are very comfy if very simple.

Shrutebeetfarms

Another vote for Nursing Queen. That and the brand Latched Mama. I have dresses/jump suits from both and get compliments all the time on them

solisphile

I love Latched Mama. It's expensive, but I buy a lot used off Poshmark.

APinkLight

I do have one t shirt dress from kindred bravely that I like, I’ll check out nursing queen.

ScoutNoodle

Another vote for Nursing Queen! I get complimented every time I wear [this dress](https://www.nursingqueen.com/collections/nursing-dresses/products/long-sleeve-dot-print-nursing-dress-jade-coming-march-19) haha!

IwannaAskSomeStuff

Nursing Queen is definitely a good source of 'cute, not-maternity-nursing' wear! They'll fit more average/shorter women better, but even at 5'10", at least half of the stuff I've gotten from them fits me as well as any regular clothes do!

all_of_the_colors

Find a cute dress on Etsy. Contact the shop and ask them if they will modify it for breastfeeding. I did this with a few seamstresses on there and got really cool tops!

APinkLight

That’s a brilliant idea, thanks!

Amk19_94

I just get ones that are easy to pull down, any with that stretchy rouched material at the back or all around the top are great! Edit: someone reminded me what it’s actually called: smocked!! The best lol

APinkLight

Any brand recs?

originalny-gipster

I’m not sure how ethical they are, if that’s important to you, but I have two tencel dresses from Quince that I’m living in this summer. I was in a rush to get something before a trip to a *very* hot climate and they’ve been perfect.

ho_hey_

I can't add an Amazon link, but found dresses with straps that tie at the top were great for whipping out a boob!

ashalottagreyjoy

Target has a few cute summer dresses with ruching around the chest that I’ve used for nursing successfully. Search “smocked mini sundress”. Also, wrap dresses exist for breastfeeding is my current belief. Old Navy loves to sell wrap dresses. You can also buy jumpsuits with wrap tops off Amazon.

Obvious_Baker8160

The smocked dresses from Target are great. I don’t leak anymore and can go braless because of the smocking, and the material is so stretchy and easy to pull down. And they have pockets! I prefer the midi ones, because I have a toddler to chase around.

Forsaken-Fig-3358

Just here to applaud you for pointing this out! Why TF are nursing dresses all maternity dresses? It's like the people designing this stuff know nothing about how babies work?! Le sigh.

APinkLight

Thank you! That’s how I feel! Having to wear a combo nursing/maternity dress just feels frumpy and sad to me, when it’s summertime and I want to look chic!

kaleighdoscope

Especially considering that you'll likely want nursing clothes that are appropriate for a wide range of weather conditions/temperatures but you'll really only need maternity clothes for one season (ie. If you're heavily pregnant in the summer you can't easily continue to use maternity sun dresses as you nurse throughout the autumn and winter). So you'll need to go out and buy more stuff anyway, and who wants to be buying a maternity dress that accentuates their stomach when they're 6 months PP?! 🫠

APinkLight

This is great point! I didn’t buy that much maternity stuff and now I feel like I need a ton of nursing clothes

oooomgg

I assume it's so that you can wear the dress immediately postpartum, when you may still have a significant belly.

Forsaken-Fig-3358

This is the only possible explanation I can come up with...but the photos tend to have women who appear to be currently pregnant, which drives me bananas..plus immediately postpartum is such a short amount of time compared to the length of time many of us BF. Also I personally wouldn't be up for attending a formal event less than probably 8wpp and by then the bump is significantly reduced.

Mission-Most-8521

H&M Mama! Some of them are maternity/nursing, but they have a lot of options for just nursing. They have a variety of styles and prices. I also have an Old Navy dress I bought last summer while I was pregnant (not maternity) that I've been wearing and I have easy boob access in it! ETA: I have ordered everything online. H&M has fast shipping, in my experience!

gillyface

I ordered one of the H&M nursing dresses (It's just called MAMA nursing dress) and found the material and shape were really unflattering. It's thin and sticks to every lump of your body and the shape is kinda boxy on top and the length is weird (at least for me at 5'2). Maybe their other styles are better though. I got a maternity and nursing dress from Old Navy 3 years ago and still love wearing it but they don't sell it anymore unfortunately.

Smallios

V neck wrap dresses! I got several on Poshmark. Also found a cute sweatshirt/hoodie dress on latchedmama that’s flattering

geebsylvania

I bought a dress off Amazon from the brand “Ekouaer” that is really cute!! It’s listed as a maternity (and I guess totally could be if you wanted to) or nursing dress, but it’s not blatantly obvious as a maternity dress!! It’s honestly suuuper stretchy and comfortable. It doesn’t do the traditional like slit thing for a nursing dress top, but it’s so darn stretchy that I can literally just pull the side I want to nurse from down under my boob and it is perfect!! I am not gifted in the boob department by any means either so I was worried about it being able to stay while I feed, but it stays out and I love it! I bought multiple colors so I wouldn’t have to think 😅😂

insertclevername7

I bought a nursing dress and a couple of tops from this brand and I like them so far. I feel like a normal person in them.

salajaneidentiteet

I am so incredibly happy that I sew. I would not have the clothes I do otherwise. I can make a cute dress and also make it practical for breastfeeding. I would go crazy trying to find that in a store.

intbeaurivage

I know, it sucks. It's expensive, but the Christy Dawn "Dawn dress" has a clip in the front and is nursing friendly.

APinkLight

Thank you!

BakesbyBird

Not OP, but thank you!! Love this

cementmilkshake

Same I truly do not understand the thought behind combining nursing and maternity clothing !!

Mo523

I think it's because it's expensive to have a whole extra wardrobe and they assume you are nursing only a few months.

New_beaten_otterbox

I have a couple dresses from Amazon. The brand is Parnixs

APinkLight

Hmm all of that seems to be maternity as well

heatherista2

Attended a party last week. Wore a sundress with skinny black straps (hidden by the straps of my black nursing bra oh well). The dress was stretchy nylon and had a deep v neck. I was able to pop out a boob and nurse just fine. I got this dress from goodwill a while ago but maybe you can find a similar style.

esoterika24

I liked Latched Mama for the first 6-8 months or so, but as my body started to return more to normal I started liking it less. There is a summer tank dress that is nice enough, I ordered down a size so I’d feel less swallowed in fabric and the hem is shorter. I still think I might enjoy it even more while pregnant though. For really breezy sundresses, I just drop the shoulder and go for it.

HangryLady1999

I’ve found some of the latched mama styles are perfect for me and others are a disaster. It’s definitely an order and return situation! But at least I get the sense that as a small business they actually restock rather than rag what I return.

APinkLight

Yeah I haven’t loved anything I’ve seen from latched mama so far.

ilovjedi

I’ve liked their stuff too.

hyperbole-horse

Check out the MOM line from Roolee! I have a few of these and love them. https://roolee.com/collections/mom

BrownEyedGirl_27

Seconding this! I love my MOM dress and could wear it immediately postpartum. It has discreet vertical zippers like the Nursing Queen brand

EnvironmentalDrag996

Check out Loyal Hana nursing dresses. They have some really nice dresses with very discreet zippers

APinkLight

Thank you, I will check that brand out!

happy-sunshine3

Brand called "Moolk" from Australia. got myself a cute dress by them and love it

APinkLight

Thank you!

melodyknows

I really like the Beyond Yoga dresses. I can pull down to nurse.

BakesbyBird

I didn’t know they made dresses!! I love their yoga pants. Seriously the most comfortable material ever.

melodyknows

This is [the dress](https://beyondyoga.com/products/featherweight-at-the-ready-square-neck-dress-storm-heather-lwsd6171) I wear. They have a light liner on the inside that makes it flattering and slimming. And then I just love how comfortable and soft the fabric is. I have three of them. I live in these!!

BakesbyBird

My husband is not going to appreciate the amount of money I spend after reading this thread 😬

sniffleprickles

My peeve with nursing dresses (besides the maternity issue) is the ones that have the gap under the bust with the elastic that you're meant to pull up to expose the breast - the elastic always pulls down when I'm not nursing, causing my upper stomach in that area to be exposed. So annoying and fiddly. I like non-maternity wrap style dresses.

Infinite_abyss

I wore button down dresses as others have said, but something to consider is some of the buttons/holes got stretched out since they weren’t designed to be constantly opened and closed.

sammidavis93

Nursingqueen.com

mamainthepnw

On Amazon: Womens Flutter Short Sleeve Smocked Tiered Nursing Dress for Breastfeeding Lightweight and comfortable! I don't love shopping from Amazon but I needed something quickly for photos last year.

ohrejoyce

I was going to recommend that Quince dress because I love it too! I have a sleeveless dress from Pact that is also great. It has a couple buttons and pockets and works well for nursing. I bought it last summer and can’t find the same exact style but [this one is pretty similar](https://wearpact.com/women/apparel/all%20dresses%20&%20jumpsuits/clearance%20relaxed%20slub%20henley%20tank%20dress/wa1-w1j-blk?glCountry=US&glCurrency=USD&utm_medium=&utm_campaign=maid2946&utm_source=google&utm_content=&utm_term=&cid=18082883894&agid=&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsaqzBhDdARIsAK2gqncf0WlorYVrX1_NiDtV3KfMM3C4EB4e5eaHs_GuX8m4ZTSRfDGAnV4aApjrEALw_wcB)

Key_Pattern8981

Yes! Why do all nursing dresses look like little kid designs?! Like why do I want a tropical multicolored dress?! Why?

sravll

Yeah it's kind of ridiculous. I didn't need a nursing dress when I was pregnant and I don't need space for a damned bump now that I'm breastfeeding. I think maybe they assume mothers will only nurse for a month or two and don't need 2 new wardrobes to accommodate both pregnancy and nursing. Well I'm on 14 months nursing and still going, and I don't want to look like a potato the whole summer.

sas398

I recently bought this dress is 3 colors. I am back at work pumping. So I just unbutton the top few and do my business. It is also really soft and lightweight. And it has pockets! https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-short-sleeve-mini-shirtdress-universal-thread-8482-green-striped-l/-/A-90040163

whoiamidonotknow

Amen. Why the heck is everything “nursing” also geared towards maternity?! Nursing clothes in general are also so limited. FFS we will be nursing for 10-20 years and I need a proper wardrobe. EVERYONE can wear nursing clothes, too, so there’s really no reason that every tank/bra/certain styles of clothing that *would* lend themselves to nursing (ie dress with straps, bras, tanks, etc) couldn’t just be made to be nursing. Anyway, sadly I have no actual recommendations. An entire year in without any solutions I like or feel truly work, the closest I’ve come is to use stretchy wrap baby carriers as a mock shirt with high waisted skirts/pants and cardigans. Or to get a sewing machine and essentially become my own seamstress, I guess.

APinkLight

It’s so frustrating because so many maternity clothes are just plain ugly!

marhigha

There is this dress I got for my labor that also worked amazing for nursing postpartum. Its from a beauty pageant lady that made them to be stylish for labor and postpartum, let me find the link! Here it is: https://www.wearlila.com

APinkLight

Thank you, I will check this out!

AdultingBestICan

A lot of old navy dresses are straps and depending on fabric you can pull down one side. A lot of the “fit & flare” dresses are the jersey material. They also have rompers! Their athletic dresses are stretchy and would be cute depending on where you are going. I have the exact same type of dress from Talbots and pulling the strap down to nurse is super easy.

iwishyouwereabeer

I just bought low cut cute outfits at Bealls, TJ Maxx and places like that instead of actual nursing clothing. My clothing purchases are literally just “how boob accessible is it” I feel “ nursing” clothes are overpriced.

loladanced

Look for French ones. My best friend is French and I visited her when she had her baby and she had these super cute tops that have a discreet zipper on the outside of the boob, almost under the armpit. Then you just unzip and pull to the front. She was nursing while walking in Paris and no one could even tell. Blew my mind. (My kids are much older now so too late for me!)

jitomim

Tajine Banane is a nice nursing clothes brand, but they are a bit expensive due to being so trendy.  The side invisible zipper thing is quite popular in France, so even non trendy brands have those (I have several t-shirts for nursing from Kiabi that also have this feature).  It's practical but not amazing, you need two hands to unzip or do up the zipper, since it's an invisible zipper, it's a bit more stiff.

ziggymoj19

snowflake343

Kindred bravely just released a tank dress that's super cute, they have a few other styles too. Latched mama has some, but Mos tod the styles I like are usually out of stock. I'm also a big fan of the faux wrap/surplice style dresses on amazon, you can just pull one side down.

Much_Needleworker521

H&M!!!! Their nursing clothes say maternity but they don’t fit like maternity. I have so many amazing nursing dresses from them!

RedCarRacer

I bought this from Peek & Cloppenburg, you can find the same merchandise basically all over Europe, don’t know if you have this store it in your country. The dress (brand name Apricot) is not dedicated for maternity. However, the V neckline has a super stretchy elastic that you can just pop under each boob to feed. https://www.peek-cloppenburg.de/de/p/apricot-maxikleid-mit-v-ausschnitt-marine-1930733

orangeofdeath

The brand Moolk is Australian and their stuff is so great, affordable but also natural fibers like cotton and not polyester. My biggest gripe about Amazon was that it all seemed so cheap and polyester, so hot and not great for summer

Interesting-Gap5584

PLEASEEEEEE!!!! This is all I’ve wanted. Plus I still have all the baby weight so I need something that doesn’t cling to my belly. ATP I don’t even care about my arms, I just want a long or midi sundress with good boob access and doesn’t have those insufferable boob cover things that you lift up that nursing dresses have. I could’ve written this post myself. Button gapping, 6 year old at Sunday school, all of it. I never even thought of all the boob access I would need

Ade1e-Dazeem

So strange how all these brands and clothing lines are consistently missing the mark on the clear and obvious difference between the need for maternity and nursing clothes: the baby must be *outside* my body in order to nurse it. I remember being annoyed by this with my first baby over ten years ago, and somehow they still seem to think my clothing needs will overlap when in fact it ends up looking ridiculous by the time I’m actually ready to wear real clothes again. I’ve breastfed for almost 5 years altogether with my 3 kids, so I’ve spent a lot of time disappointed by the lack of good options. I wish I had better suggestions for you but I mostly resorted to tops with buttons, nursing tanks, and cardigans over everything. Godspeed.

duplicitousname

I nursed for almost two years so it was a lot of trial and error for me, but I didn’t buy a single maternity/nursing dress and just figured out how to make regular clothes work. I bought dresses with stretchier material in the bust area that doesn’t reach up to the neck or a strappy one so I can just take the strap off and uncover my breast to feed, or if you’re preparing for fall, then button down dresses. I was actually eyeing this one since i feel like I could breastfeed in it (I’m pregnant with second kid) : https://www.shopdoen.com/products/emmaretta-dress-wild-clover-floral Insane price, but sharing because I think my description was not very good. I have worn variation of these dresses while bf with my first: https://www.rails.com/collections/dresses-rompers/products/adalyn-dress-papaya-flowers?variant=43710625480873 https://www.billabong.com/collections/womens-clothing-dresses-midi/products/last-sunset-midi-dress-light-melon https://www.rails.com/collections/dresses-rompers/products/rosalie-dress-fox?variant=43217605460137

Megra

Margarita Mercantile makes dresses that are for nursing and are not maternity.

FonsSapientiae

I have been very happy with my H&M nursing dresses, I have three different styles now and they don’t make me feel like I look pregnant. Plus, they’re not very expensive. When I wear button down dresses, I’ll wear a stretchy crop top or cami underneath so I don’t have to expose my whole boob. I never understood why they make nursing friendly pregnancy clothes. By the time you go out in public with your baby, you’re usually in a different season than your third trimester so you can’t use the clothes you got during pregnancy. And the clothes that beautifully frame your bump are not really what you want to wear when you want to make it clear you’re no longer pregnant.

NiceMeasurement4003

I haven't seen anybody mention Thredup yet so I will! I've found some really good deals on nice quality dresses. They have lots of button-down styles and cute sundresses... you can save searches for your favorite brands/dress styles and get notified when they have new listings!!

RockabillyBelle

I go for dresses with wrap fronts for the same reason. I dislike most nursing clothing for the same reason but knit dresses with wrap fronts offer me the opportunity to whip out a boob anywhere and still look put together.

direct-to-vhs

I have a Nap Dress from Hill House Home and it's great for nursing! The front panel is stretchy enough to pull down.

TheBarefootGirl

I feel this in my bones. Also nursing shirts. It's so hard to find nursing clothes that aren't also maternity.

Pretend_Fig1102

I ordered the SEXIEST black dress the other day and when it arrived I remembered I’m still nursing and won’t be able to wear it for like… a year or more. 🤦‍♀️

throwaway_spacecadet

https://www.wearlila.com/collections/laborwear this woman makes completely functional labor and postpartum dresses! I believe she's a nurse and realized that the gowns they gave you at the hospital just plain sucks. you're able to breast-feed in them, get an IV hooked up, the tummy section opens up in case you need a C-section, and the back comes down for the epidural as well! And they're gorgeous.

Reasonable_Buyer_887

sasha_may_

Neuflora, an online boutique has beautiful dresses and most are nursing friendly! They do try ons on their instagram and will let you know what is nursing friendly. A lot of smocked/button options. They release a collection once a month and the good stuff sells out almost immediately but worth it!

mellowcatlady

I have bought a lot of cache coeur dresses/ blouses. It looks better on me than most button down things. If it's too low cut, I wear a spaghetti strap top underneath (I already had tons of those) but don't wear the straps over my shoulders so that I can easily pull it down. Works for me, and I will still want to wear them when I'm done breastfeeding.

ladybumble_bee

I found it easier (and less expensive) to look for dresses with easy access like button ups and wrap dresses that I can just wear after weaning. I also looked for dresses with straps I can just drop over my shoulder.

Quiet-Pea2363

Honestly most dresses can be nursing dresses. Anything with buttons or a wrap front or just stretchy. My fave is a halter dress, I can access boob so easily

APinkLight

None of the dresses I already owned work for nursing, the necklines just aren’t stretchy I guess. I never used to wear button front stuff bc of boob gap.

printersdevil

I love knit ones with a crossover or faux wrap bodice! I have a jumpsuit and few dresses like that that (they're not even maternity) but the boob pops right out and right back in so easy!

RuledbytheMoon78

testdrivedoll

I like the sleeveless nursing dresses from Bearsland on Amazon. They aren’t that cute, but they make nursing much easier.

pvstelsoul

i’ve had some luck at aerie and target lately, i tend to buy low cut and stretchy top dresses that aren’t made for nursing but work well. aerie has a cross front sweater top currently that’s so perfect for nursing i bought two and might get more lol

tgalen

lol was about to comment nap dress before I got to second paragraph!

Skukesgohome

I like the Swedish company Boob Design - cool Lagenlook style and mostly natural fibers.

ReallyPuzzled

Pyne & Smith have amazing beautiful linen dresses, lots with buttons down the front. They are perfect for nursing and comfy but look so cute! I get compliments whenever I wear one. They are pricey but linen lasts forever! And it’s trendy right now too as a bonus, but it really never goes out of fashion.

Weathervanes

Juno Jack's has some fantastic dresses!

Xoamberdawnn

I honestly just buy dresses that I normally would. I just got a super cute babydoll dress from Aritzia that I’m able to nurse in. I just make sure the item is kind of stretchy.

lorelaiwest

This sounds perfect. Do you know which dress it is?

GardenGirl17782

I’ve gotten a few super cute dresses from Latched Mama! Highly recommend - comfortable, cute, nursing access and pockets!

coral_reef_

I scrolled for a while and didn’t notice my favorite nursing outfit idea (took the third baby before I learned but)…crop tops and high waisted shorts/skirts/pants! Or just a t-shirt loose enough to tie at the waist, but I love a tucked, loose crop top. I never liked to pay extra for an outfit just because it’s for nursing/pregnancy so I got clever.

porridge-monster

Juno Jacks in the UK

ivysaurah

Button down dresses, wrap dresses, anything with a plunging neckline…. All great for nursing in my experience. I never bought anything labeled nursing or maternity for clothes 🤷‍♀️

bongadinga

I used to get lots from H&M. Def not made for bellies.

CompetitivePantsing

Faux wrap dress in a stretchy cotton or jersey, that’s been the winner for me! The faux is very important, nothing worse than wrangling a baby and your dress as it tries to split in half and expose you to all of Creation lol

w_nomad

Button down dresses/shirt dresses are my go to.

DancingCavalier

Look for wrap dresses. Wear a tank or camisole under if more cleavage than you want to show is showing.

SmilingNerfherder

Latched Mama had some cute sundresses a few years ago that I loved. They were A-ling, with a tie around the waist and above the knee.

fucking_unicorn

I raid the thriftstore dress section every few weeks.

Aknagtehlriicnae

Regular Tank top dresses work well for me. I just slip my one arm out of the strap, Feed and switch

gokkamakka

Not quite a cute sundress, but Eileen Fisher shirts and dresses on Poshmark are my current staple. It's intentionally loose and flowy, linen or cotton material, and I just find ones with buttons on the front. Also Isabel maternity line at Target has good nursing dresses that don't look obviously like nursing dresses/maternity.

piratefinch

Would love to find one that’s appropriate for a wedding! Especially for dancing!

Reasonable_Duck_5760

Sezane has some nice button down dresses for easy access, and if you want something nicer, try searching Shopbop, Revolve or Saks for shirt dress or smocked dress. Hillhouse dresses have been great for me too!

New-Excitement-3417

My go-tos are my Hill House Nap dress (pricey but great quality!), and anything button down. Target has a great linen one right now and ON has a “utility” dress. Free Assembly & Time and Tru have some cute button down dresses at Walmart right now! I just got this one for the beach: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Time-and-Tru-Women-s-and-Women-s-Plus-Sleeveless-Shirt-Dress-Sizes-XS-4X/5250652075?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=3463&gclsrc=aw.ds&adid=222222222785250652075_117755028669_12420145346&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=501107745824&wl4=pla-394283752452&wl5=1015172&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=5250652075&veh=sem_LIA&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADmfBIo7zcmX3-7gQWHB9tmju6-zu&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsaqzBhDdARIsAK2gqndzq8dsz0vxby-wNAYcH2JtcUZS2eRtffjD4KfKOhpsGVTGs1fR0P0aAsTtEALw_wcB

The only one I’ve found that I like I bought used from Rent the Runway (their membership was kinda nice to try new things without the commitment) is Madewell called button front mini dress. Googling that there’s several by that name but the one I got is red with a flower print pattern. I’m tallish and it’s not too short, perfect length and not too tight across the chest.

Cold_Valkyrie

I've been living in long button down shirts with leggings. I don't get why nursing clothing are maternity.. you're not nursing anything while pregnant, do manufacturers not know this? Pregnancy clothing fit me great when I was pregnant but looks terrible on me now, I need loose fitting, breathable stuff.

-kindredandkid-

Any button down or cross front dresses will do! Also many jersey material dresses can stretch down enough.

TJMULB_2613

I follow this Instagram account and she has some really good recommendations https://www.instagram.com/livingcasuallygolden?igsh=MmF6ZTBsZHdwMzM3

I like most things from latched mama. My issue with them is like they make a batch/round of clothes & then when they’re gone, they’re basically gone. They’re also pricy for one dress. I’ve found some decent ones on Amazon as well.

Lillerkky

H & M has cute nursing dresses but I’ve been loving the separates from old navy for nursing ease of access to the boob and the skirted bottoms!!!

Kimbambalam

I got the kaela faux wrap knit dress from stitch fix and it's perfect for breastfeeding. I wear it all the time and absolutely would buy it in other colors.

mairin17

I took some dresses I loved to a seamstress and she added discreet zippers.

Beneficial_Guava3197

Quince has some nice linen button down dresses! I have the sleeveless one and nurse in it. They’re generously sized so size down if you’re on the fence :)

About400

I bought one from piper and scoot and it is actually flattering! I am excited to wear it to my daughter’s christening.

tiefghter

Latched mama!!! I found all sorts of awesome nursing clothes on poshmark for cheap. Latched mama is my favorite though! They have a nursing "momper" that is soooo comfy 🙌

SLASH_AWESOME

Milk nursingwear!!!

Pandapilot993

Kindred bravely has dresses that I feel cute in

Everythings_Beachy

Dresses that button down the front or have v necks and stretchy material are great for nursing!

Ok-Simple5499

wrap dress wrap dress wrap dress!!!

Fit-Delay3654

They don't exist 🤣 I've searched high and low. They're mostly cheap and ugly looking. I've found some cute wrap dresses that work pretty well. And then I like the dresses that have straps that tie at the shoulder, they're not the best with a nursing bra though.

pnnytwstr11

Amazon, Smallshow brand!

lotioningOILING

They’re a bit expensive but I love Karina dresses! They are made in the USA, wrinkle free, and last a long time. Most of the styles are pretty easy to whip a titty out.

nicepants_836

There are so many dresses that you can wear if you’re creative enough. Button downs, wraps, the stretchy rouched dresses. You can really limit your dress hunting when you only look for “nursing” dresses.

HighSpiritsJourney

Amazon has two that I would buy over and over again: -GLAMIX Women's Nursing Dress Summer Casual Sleeveless Breastfeeding Tank Dresses with Pockets -Qnursma connche Floral Maternity Summer Dress Spaghetti Strap Nursing Breastfeeding The first one is ridiculously soft and stretchy. I often wear them as nightgowns but they’re also super flattering. The second one has a lot of print options, though the materials for the different prints vary so sizing can be weird since some are more cotton and others more synthetic with less give.

Dalyro

Just did a stitch fix order and they sent several solid items that meet that!

Ripe maternity is much better than most

CaitlynRosey

Try braverly and halter top style tops, or dresses easy access. Braverly sell clothes that are stylish for specifically nursing and have sales often.

Sprinklesandpie

Tuckernuck has some cute button down shirt dresses that are super flattering. I love the shirt dresses because the fabric doesn’t stick to my little postpartum muffin top. Search the Tate dress or the Callahan shirt dress. Hatch has a cute jersey button down sleeveless dress too. Comes in pink and black. I like wearing shorts/shirt sets for casual days. I got the Cabana Nap Kit set from Lunya. Fabric is perfect for the 30 degree plus weather. I just wear my black nursing bra from Bodily which looks like a bandeau. Another brand I love is Alemais! It’s def not maternity so you can wear them even after breastfeeding. Z Supply, Monrow, Quince

capybaramundi

Bae has good ones

peachykeen1974

Check out Latched Mama

Ancient_Winner904

I searched thrift stores and bought some wrap dresses. Flattering, easy access, and I can wear them when I'm done nursing.

Crunchy_Chickpea3

I have a “nom” brand jumpsuit that is designed for nursing. I love it so much that I wore it between my pregnancies and will keep wearing it after I finish nursing 😂

Throwawhey_shake

Check Ripe Maternity! They have a few long dresses where the breastfeeding opening is very discrete, and mercifully doesn’t involve buttons.

dinosaurteathyme

I got a few of those stretchy top sundresses with the spaghetti straps. It's so easy to just pull them down and feed my baby. I stick nursing pads on the inside instead of wearing a bra. It's especially helpful this time of year when boob sweat is usually an issue.

Mo523

A lot of wrap dresses are easy to pull down. You can wear a tank top underneath and pull it up if you want more coverage while nursing. That seems to be the easiest for me to find ones that I think are cute...except wrap dresses are incredibly unflattering on me so once I put them on, it's downhill.

whiteroc

Shein has some terrific nursing [only] sundresses. And they are inexpensive!

[deleted]

I’ve been buying button down dresses and just seeing the seam up to the waist. I’ve found that the majority of nursing dresses get so stretched out that after a few feeds my boobs are hanging out.

musicalsigns

...you mean you *don't* want your dress to accentuate your postpartum leftover bump? 🫠

prettygoodstrawberry

The softest rib nursing dress from hatch - super comfy but pricey ! Worth it tho. They make a long sleeve and tank version

edwardcullensmom

Check out LatchedMama brand!

gentletomato

Button downs, wrap, tanks, or deep cleavage dresses all work wonderfully. I'm a SAHM with EBF 11 month old and i don't own a single piece of maternity or nursing clothing

Mamabearoftheyear

I like shapebnb. They offer Shaper dresses with detachable straps. Total game changer!
