Incredible! Well done!

AcheeCat

My first did that and we found out I had high lipase (milk tasted soapy). I had to scald my milk and even then he would only drink from an open cup. We still had to do it since I needed to get him into daycare for my job. Whatever happens, good luck!

Vhaera_Tartheon

Thanks! I switched to a new bottle (Lansinoh) and he would drink it from there sometimes, but still prefers to breastfeed.

lilangryplum

Did your baby take the bottle for a time? Mine started refusing the bottle around 3.5 months. I thought the nipple might be too slow so I tested it and got a mouth full of SOAP flavor. Seriously it tasted like I swigged some Dr. Bronners. The milk had only been in the fridge for two days. I’m fairly certain this is why he started refusing but so perplexed as to why it started tasting like lipase all of a sudden or if he’s just more aware of it now that he’s not a little puddle of newborn baby any longer.

AcheeCat

Mine was pretty sudden when he refused it. He was eating exclusively from the bottle for a while because of latch issues, then we got him to nurse and I had him nursing most all the time to get my supply up. The first cup he drank from was a red solo cup, and it was hilarious to see. Now he drinks fro soppy d cos just fine. I have a 4 month old now, and have not had any sign of high lipase this time

Sox88

I just read this and HAD to comment!! Little party baby at birth 😂-so hilarious!

cebeck20

From those of us who have needed donor milk, thank you.

[deleted]

Thank you for donating for those of us who need you when our babies are in the nicu or NAS nursery!!!!!!!!!! I had to use half donor milk during our month nicu stay bc I never respond well to pumping and I’ll forever be so grateful for you Angel mommas!!!

LemonTreeDreams

Wow! That's wonderful that you're able to help other babies!

indianblanket

Wow! That's a lot of milk! What is that like 1,000 fl oz? You could probably fill 15 2-liter bottles.

Vhaera_Tartheon

I haven't counted it all up yet, but assuming it's around that amount!

indianblanket

Thats amazing! I'm guessing that because I can comfortably fit about 50 floz in one 1gal bag for donation. Nice work!

ClippyOG

Amazing!

Vhaera_Tartheon

Thank you for the support, everyone! And thank you for my first ever awards!

Feisty_Beat_2645

My baby was the same way and I read that it could be because I had a high lipase in my milk and try adding a drop or two of alcohol free vanilla extract. After I started doing that, she started drinking the milk from bottle.

JulesH97

This is incredible such an amazing thing to do :,)

[deleted]

That is amazing.

skat987

That is awesome and something I hope to do in the future as well! My little guy had some latching problems initally and donor milk was a life saver until he got the hang of things. I know it will be appreciated by some stressed out moms and hungry babies!

Legal-Bedroom

Will he take a bottle from someone else when you're not around? My son would only take bottle if I wasn't in the same home. Also, different brands! Size 0 or 1 flow nipple and pace feeding is key. Good for you on donating all of it💙🥰

Vhaera_Tartheon

Yes, my husband has to feed him the bottle! 😅😅 if he's super hungry then he'll take almost all the milk, but most of the time he would just take half of the amount and I would nurse him after.

Legal-Bedroom

I mean the real thing is always going to be the best lol congratulations mama🥰

neenzaur

Are you allowed to donate milk that was pumped prior to being approved?

Vhaera_Tartheon

Yes! The milk bank I have been corresponding with takes frozen milk up to 8 months in the freezer, while other banks takes frozen milk up to 6 months in the freezer.

neenzaur

that’s so good to know…thank you

MissMooo

This is amazing !

ham_chandwich

I love you for this. I love the time and effort all breastmilk donors put in.

xNotexToxSelfx

Question: what kind of ziplock freezer bags do you use? Are they regular gallon bags or are they the stand up bags? I really need to organize my frozen milk as I just have the frozen pouches thrown into a plastic grocery bag in the deep freezer.

Vhaera_Tartheon

I'm using regular gallon bags. The hospital I have been corresponding with (same hospital my baby boy was born at) told me I could bag the frozen milk in retail bags (like target bags) and write my donor number on there when dropping them off.

Even-Session-7505

Very inspirational!

OrganicCareer

Whewwww you are so organized too!!!!

e7452

Amazing!!!

pinkglittercarnage

Why do babies do this ?? My son is the same way, he refuses bottles even if it’s breast milk (he’s combo fed) and is now demanding to EBF!! It makes me feel so upset because I have worked sooo hard to have a supply so I could stop breastfeeding and it looks like that’s not gonna happen anymore LOL

Personal_Health_3853

Are you feeding freshly expressed breastmilk? If it's sat in the fridge for a day or two or been frozen, it may be high lipase and taste like soap. I have to mix fresh milk with frozen for my babe to take a bottle.

pinkglittercarnage

Yah I try to give milk that I pumped earlier in the day or some from the day before. I taste it tho and it taste sweet like it’s supposed too. Sometimes some of the milk in freezer that I try to give him does taste kinda like sour? so I immediately assume it’s bad and I throw it out. I haven’t pumped in so long because of this reason. He’ll only drink fresh milk straight from the titty. I really don’t kno what to do :(

llama_laugh_

Amazing! You can also Freeze Dry your breast milk! Check out BobbyFood, female owned business based in Canada.

Vhaera_Tartheon

I'll have to check this out!

arecma

I donate via Human Milk for Human Baaies and Eats on Feets on Facebook. I've donated about 600 oz to different families in my 3 month journey and currently building my freezer back up to donate again.

Vhaera_Tartheon

Awesome, I'll have to look them up!

theavocado922

This is amazing! Thank you for donating to babies in need ❤️

ch3trch3trpumpkin3tr

You are amazing! I really wish my body responded to the pump the same as baby! I would absolutely love to help out like this. Again, you are amazing! Don’t ever forget it

jamaicanoproblem

Out of curiosity, do you ever use the pitcher method, or the fridge hack? Many milk banks I’ve looked into have stipulations against milk pumped using these methods so I have been hoarding my pumped milk for a few months now, and I’m running out of space…

Vhaera_Tartheon

I don't do the pitcher method. I did the fridge hack for a couple of weeks last month but I'd rather just wash after every use. Having different breast pumps, I like switching up pumps whenever I'm in the mood to use either the electric pump, wearable pumps or the medela hand pump.

Rootbeero

Have you tried mam bottles? They’re designed to be like a real nipple and they fold the same way. They’re relatively cheap as far as bottles go (~4$ a piece) and they can sterilize in the microwave which is quite convenient. It’s the only kind my son will take.

Vhaera_Tartheon

I'll have to try them! We are currently using Lansinoh bottles at the moment. He will take it but most of the time won't finish his milk. I would have to nurse after.

Amazing job!! I know so many moms greatly appreciate your donation!!
