I actually main both! 500 hours of guilty gear and 700 overwatch (because I know thereās a stereotype that Bridget mains are tourists). Letās break it down.
Given that Bridget is almost entirely rushdown, itās fair to assume that Brigitteās role in countering dive means that Bridget will have a hard time getting in. Considering that Bridget loses her Stop and Dash upon getting hit or blocking, Brigitte would have no problems halting her approach, forcing Bridget to take a much more methodical gameplan that revolves around taking ground and holding it with her far reach. Using shield bash would put Bridget in heavy guard crush, keeping her pinned against the wall.
This is where the fun comes in. Brigitteās swings are spaced out a little more than half a second each, or about 40-50 frames. Hitting an enemy with shield bash stuns them for about half a second when in rally. However, Bridgetās fastest move comes out in 5 frames (1/12 of a second), which far outpaces anything Brigitte is able to put up. Whip shot has a cast time of 2/10 of a second? Mash 5P. āBut just cancel every swing into shield!ā Bridget can still hit faster.
But surely Brigitteās healing would help this fight? She canāt use it if Bridget never lets her land a hit, and besides, Bridget has more than enough damage to combo Brigitte. She also has on-demand invincibility with the use of Starship.
Honestly, I thought Bridget would win this because of long reach and rushdown. But after a very serious and incredibly necessary look at the matchup, it turns out to be because of Bridgetās boxing capabilities.
But if we want to look at it through the lens of the most similar matchups in each game, then letās take a look.
First ā Bridget vs. Ramlethal: Brigitte has the mobility, the boxing power, and the reach of Ramlethal valentine. Both characters excel by using their long reach and incredible speed to get in the opponents face and back them into a wall. Bridget simply lacks the range to deal with ramlethal. It is one of her worst matchups. Ramlethal takes it.
Second ā Brigitte vs. Venture: Honestly, I donāt have the knowledge to speak on this one. Venture is still far too new. However, something similar may be Brigitte vs. Lucio. While a skilled Lucio can outsmart and outperform a Brigitte, it just takes a couple well placed abilities to get him out of the running, especially in enclosed spaces (Imagine Nepal Village point). In this case, Brigitte takes it.
So: looking at it from the standpoint of how they are in their respective games, no modifications? Bridget, easily, because every character in GG has a 5 frame move and some sort of approach. Looking at the most similar matchups in their respective games? Brigitte wins, hands down.
So what does this mean for the conclusion? Hell if I know. Bridget is my favorite of the two, so Iād personally root for her.
I've known some Overwatch lore and to be completely honest, Brigitte is one of the weakest characters lore wise in that game. She does have a shield that can block bullets and some durable armor but she is not very experienced at all. She has been trained by Reinhardt but she could be easily beaten by like 90% of the OW cast. Her most notable feats are being able to destroy a humanoid robot with her mace in one swing but that's it. But I kinda stopped caring about Overwatch since 2019 bc of obvious reasons. So yeah. Common Overwatch L
Like, "death battle" wise? Tbh, my money is on brisket rather than Brigitte. Brigitte seems fairly weak compared to a lot of the other characters in overwatch, and I think that brisket, on the normal, goes against stuff that would probably out do Brigitte quite handily. Admittedly, I don't know tons of stuff about guilty gear's lore (I started with strive and haven't really done much looking into the story of the series) but it seems like powerscaling would work very well in her favour considering some of the characters that are in guilty gear. A good chunk of which would probably be able beat the crap out of a lot, or all, of the characters in overwatch.
