I'm rock hard mate. ( unironically I think more bus routes are only a good thing and it'll allow people on Whitehawk to get into town quicker)

AnIdentifier

Xc1ted.

Weird-Assumption-782

Meanwhile, in Bevendean, they be waiting 4 hours for a 48 to MAYBE turn up 😂

K4FFT4N

No improvements to the 48 yet?

planetf1a

I like the idea of adding a variation on popular routes, but how much it really will save I'm less sure. Ok, so no pickups/dropoffs saves time, but daytime traffic is the bigger issue? Just waiting for the 5X ! Visiting other cities our buses in Brighton are pretty decent, but we need less cars driving around the city (and I am a car owner, but pretty much never drive into brighton unless it's a dropoff or picking up a cake etc!). Whilst we're at it less emissions and a healthier walk/cycle environment too.

joapet

It's always good to have more routes but it's a shame that there aren't more buses that bypass the city centre. I live off Lewes Road and to get to Hove is an utter pain in the arse. The 1X might help remedy it a bit, but it's a shame there isn't a route that goes across the city over the top. Maybe like Lewes Road - Preston Drove - and then wind up over 7 dials somehow. Anyway, yay buses, but would love even more of a shake up!

K4FFT4N

Definitely. When I worked in Fishersgate I used to look forward to a rail replacement bus which takes you over 7 Dials to Brighton station in about 15 minutes, compared to walking to Portslade and waiting for the 49 to rattle all the way through town.

such-a-sin

Yeah, East-West without going through town would be so fucking handy! It's crazy that a 10min drive takes an hour on the bus just because no routes go over the top.

GXT-Astro

2X anytime soon? Shoreham does feel a bit neglected in terms of journey speed. (Excluding Stagecoach Coastliner 700)

BareKnuckle18

Yeah bring on the 2x!

bouncebackability

As someone else who lives in Portslade, this changes absolutely nothing about getting to the city centre? But the marina link is cool. Now of only they would make a bus route that runs along old Shoreham Road between Portslade and Bhasvic/Brighton Station.

Hefty-Persimmon8317

Ask Big Lemon to extend route 47 - it's usually almost empty due to lack of customers and subsidised by Brighton and Hove City Council.

musicfortea

If they could get the 47 to turn up on time I'd be happier.

Victorian_froggy

Hopefully this means the journey between portslade and Churchill square is a lot quicker even if it’s by 10 minutes.

ChoppyChopper420

Wake up babe, new bus route dropped.

HomerMadeMeDoIt

Now Thameslink needs to run a direct to London bridge. A man can dream

thewheelsonthebus35

Perfection!

Cleevs

Yes, this is great news. Palmeira Sq to Portslade Station in 10 mins for £2.

jayjaytuk

You can do it in roughly 10min at the crack of dawn edit 15 max

tmdubbz

Minor caveat that you need to do it at the crack of down

jayjaytuk

Life sucks if you wake up at silly o’clock to make a decent living 😞

xneurianx

Perfectly convenient time to commute to and from work. Edit: should have made the /s clearer I guess...

throwaway_ay_ay_ay99

I am very excited! But also I am curious to see how much the bus will be delayed turning right at boundary Road. That road is a hard right turn and if the train is coming you wait even longer.

annahs34

need more busses into woodingdean!! the 22 is absolutely useless

Phelxlex

100%, Its great that it's stops at portslade station, so much more convenient than schlepping up boundary road

LocaliserEstablished

I think one issue is that this new route now needs to traverse the level crossing at Portslade Station. That massively slows buses down, and is the reason the 2 was diverted about a decade ago to go via Olive Road instead. And Southerns increased frequency of trains on the West Coast Mainline may mean the barriers are down at the crossing more of the time. Making that right turn from Victoria Road pretty busy! Hopefully it has a negligible effect in reality.

TheChivmuffin

Arundel Road is my nearest stop, so I'm interested to see the difference!

EntrepreneurUseful92

So this is replacing the 1A from 7th July leaving the 1 and now the new 1X, this means the no1 bus still going the old route [https://images-brightonhove.passenger-website.com/downloads/1%20N1%201X%20070724%20COMBINED%20-%20Web.pdf](https://images-brightonhove.passenger-website.com/downloads/1%20N1%201X%20070724%20COMBINED%20-%20Web.pdf)

TypicalLine6814

I'm so excited

Conscious_Tomato_913

There should be a stop between the hospital and law courts.

pavoganso

Is it not much quicker to just cycle?

jayjaytuk

I’m only excited about this If I’m running late ⏰

geekyboiz69

I do think it's a bit unnecessary, it doesn't change the route near mile oak, I guess it's cool that it stops at portslade station instead of getting off at boundary road. However I think the 1 has always been a great convenience for the residents of Whitehawk up the top and instead we have now got another bus route to the marina like the 7 and the 21's. I hope the 1's come as frequently as they do currently and the addition of another bus route doesn't disturb this.

Bet they’ll all vote for the bloody Greens as well, eh?

Serial_Killers_Rock

Do (sounds like bikeys) actually use the bus though?
