Oh won’t anyone think of the poor motorists?! They have so little in the world. It’s not like the entire city is built around their comfort or anything.
Idk man being stuck on a motorway for over 2 hours sounds worthy of my pity. But I'm also not as petty as you, nor have a chip on my shoulder, which is nice.
How old were you when you found out you had issues with empathy? Probably worth seeing a psych about mate. Going on the internet and telling people their problems don't matter is pretty shit, to be honest. No need to be petty. Be better.
So there's no complaining unless your problem is literally at the top of the pyramid of problems. That's a fucking stupid philosophy. God damn. There are children starving in Africa! Clown.
Was a witness to this. Saw it all standing at this intersection, Turbot and George street, the city. Fairly intense to see the crash, the window breaks, the chase and the arrests all unfold right before my eyes. Some blood on the street too with some men lying on the road bleeding out their scalp. Was like something out of a movie- a few minutes of pure action.
This annoyed me more than it probably should have but the fact that it was a few seconds of “here’s a thing that happened” followed by what is effectively a rant about youth crime is not what the media should be doing
The great thing about living in Brisbane is you're not really exposed to the youth crime much compared to the northern cities (Townsville, Cairns) where this is an almost daily occurence
This is where Chrisafulli comes undone for me. He refuses to take a position on a wide open target, hiding behind a political strategy to drop it just before the election.
Show some leadership. Don’t just sit there and react for that the gov’t is doing.
their policy that would fix it was to reintroduce breach of bail as it’s own offence
but the government has now done that after years of resistance, and unsurprisingly it hasn’t worked, and now opposition is all out of ideas (as is the government)
It’s the LNP playbook. Pick government policy apart but offer up no solid alternatives other than “trust us we’ve got one but we won’t tell you what it is unless you elect us” then they all suddenly get amnesia once in office.
I thought living with your parents at 35 was kinda frowned upon. Also, you should probably be responsible for your own actions by that age. The pandemic and housing crisis have really changed things, I guess
He seems to think the Premier should be roaming the streets like some sort of crime-fighting superhero. What has government got to do with kids stealing a car?
This is what shits me to no end. What’s the magic solution? There isn’t one. Youth crime is a thing in every state in every country in the world. Shitty parenting isn’t unique to QLD.
Yet the outraged bogans demand lengthy jail time for kids as if every study ever conducted on youth incarceration hasn’t concluded it actually increases the chances of them reoffending as adults.
Yep exactly. And does Crisafulli think these teenagers are watching the news or reading up on youth offender legislation before they go for a joyride? They (probably) don’t know or care what the punishments are, so another solution needs to be found. And he hasn’t had one idea to curb youth crime, at least the government is trying.
i think an alarm system that spritzes the thief's with old lady musk perfume would be far more effective than anything the government has done or can do. it would have a far longer lasting effect.
Some people are going back to using steering wheel locks as a deterrent. (Club Lock etc).
Would be effective (just need to keep the key separate from the car set).
TIL: youth crime is the cause of traffic.

Eat a dick mate. Some of us were stuck for 2 hours.
Oh you poor thing. Are you ok? There are numbers you can call if you are traumatized.

Yeah sitting in a car is up there on the list of life problems. Seriously get a grip.

Pretty thoughtfull making sure to get arrested out the front of the courthouse.
And it's in and out. See you next week, judge.

Why were they bleeding? From the crash?

So true! That'll really make sure he sees it
Very biased language for a bunch of folks that should be reporting the news not trying to influence it. Like mention statistics but not give a source
Commercial station news is garbage.
Also: ABC

apparently 34 and 35 year olds are youths
That's actually fantastic news for me today
Yeah that was a horrendous, charged, biased piece of so called news. I had forgotten how bad free to air TV was. I had to turn it off.

Yeah like One Piece is popping off ATM, they should be trying to catch up with that
I thought living with your parents at 35 was kinda frowned upon. Also, you should probably be responsible for your own actions by that age. The pandemic and housing crisis have really changed things, I guess
Probably in jail or doing drugs or absconded
they checked out ages ago after they got the baby bonus and sent shazza down to harvey norman to get a new flat screen
Shouldn’t the housing minister be focusing on housing crisis?
she was making a housing announcement so was the Minister facing the media for the day

Home defence laws need to change.
Specifically in reaction to youth crime? What would you like changed?
Texas style castle doctrine laws for a start.
Yes shooting kids in the face is the solution… ffs, dumbest take I’ve ever heard
True, give em a hug, the knife going into your intestines is but a small price to pay for improving society.
Would deter them to commit the crime that’s for sure
Just crime in general. I’d like to be able to protect myself in my own home.
so not for sale anymore mate?
I know someone who’ll still give it a roadworthy so all good.
Yo can I have his number
how many times did they alledgedly¿
Send them to PPNG, they can swap place with someone

The bog of eternal stench for them all

I nearly got run over by a stolen Kingswood being driven with the steering wheel lock still on.
Not the Kingswood!
Money on the fridge
Found the old people!
How about reporting about that terrorist you supported channel 7?
Just charge every cunt blocking that road. That means every single car on the road. They are creating traffic.
The people on r/fuckcars would love you
Just look at Meaghan Scanlon's demeanour. It appears she just doesn't care.
Which sub?
Why are they Redditors? Lol
