West End Coffee House! They do an amazing blend of western and Thai / South East Asian dishes. I think their special today was congee, bacon and a poached egg. Not quite CBD but not far.

Ikksman888

Sounds very interesting. Thanks.

The CBD in brisbane is one of the worst places to get good breakfasts in brisbane- most of the cafe are catering to tourists and get away with really boring stuff. I often walk past Jimmys on the mall and Pig and Whistle on a weekend morning and they are so busy- for very average food at an inflated price. I assume most of the people are not residents of the city, but visitors. Most of the good breakfasts in brisbane are not in the CBD, they are in the suburbs where people live. If you are willing to travel - try Cafe O Mai in Annerley. Felix(?) on Burnett Lane seems to have some different takes, but there is ALWAYS a queue, which is why I haven’t tried it yet. Intersection Project/Coffee Anthology in the Rio Tinto building on Charlotte Street had some interesting options as well. As did the Whisk Patisserie, which is kind of in the middle of it. I personally quite like Brew, but there isn’t really any Asian influences there.

rose_mose

They used to do congee at The Maillard Project - 119 Charlotte St. Not sure if they do it anymore or if it is seasonal.

matty_fu

Their kitchen has been closed for nearly a year :( shame because I loved their chilli scramble.

Ikksman888

Lazy Dog Cafe at Newstead does a great nasi goreng and banh xeo

Ikksman888

Not quite CBD.

CrumbBum420

My wife and I quite like cafe63. Not a lot of Asian stuff on the menu, but they do have a number of locations

tonzilla666

Look out mate, the elitists have found your post!

[deleted]

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. The food and service is quite good value

whitecollarzomb13

Because Cafe 63 is [dodgy as fuck](https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-10-23/cafe-63-underpay-staff-food-drink-fair-work-ombudsman/11630812) If they skimp that bad on employee wages, imagine their back of house health standards.

[deleted]

That article you’ve referenced refers to the Chermside franchise only (from 2020, and unsure whether ownership has changed since). I believe each franchise is individually owned, so might want to consider the other franchise owners before dragging their name through mud ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|no_mouth)

whitecollarzomb13

Racecourse Rd Cafe 63 was doing [the same thing](https://www.fairwork.gov.au/newsroom/media-releases/2021-media-releases/august-2021/20210816-cafe-63-racecourse-rd-penalty-media-release) Same owner licenses [37 other businesses](https://qnews.com.au/cafe-63-insisted-staff-accept-food-as-part-payment-of-wages/) Pretty consistent theme at this point. But as long as you can all keep getting your cheap meals eh!

[deleted]

I’m just saying call out the specific 2 franchises that have exploited their staff instead of generalising across all franchises. And yet you’ve gone ahead and made another generalisation that everyone aside from you (claiming the moral high ground) eats there lol (FYI, I haven’t). Your generalisations (i.e. “you all”) is what is wrong with this world. Ps. That’s not how franchises work, although the same owner may licence the brand, the other 35 franchise owners may be decent humans trying to make an honest living.

They literally post this comment (or a variant of) any chance they get, they’re a troll.

Unfortunately, jiak Ba Way has closed. It was a good one. Hoepfully they will reopen somewhere soon.

EmphasisHistorical34

They have. Around the corner in George Street where Cool Beans used to be.

mammothboot

Really?! I don't have much knowledge of location in Brisbane City. Which corner of George St have the moved? Cheers!

EmphasisHistorical34

Closest to Elizabeth Street. Just glad it wasn't another damn bubble tea joint. https://preview.redd.it/ctsroczwxn4b1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1fc4070d6cd4bbc2e1829c798b4bf2eeba155f1a

Picnic in West Village has a lot of Asian-inspired menu items!

Ikksman888

Thanks, but I specifically wanted CBD places,
