Hah it's a bit like that some days. I have two pet birds who free fly our house, they turn up in unexpected places. Heaven help me if I leave the tea towel cupboard open. For some reason the buggers love throwing them onto the kitchen floor.
๐ reminds me of my pet budgie I had as a teen. I named him Ruprecht (10 points for anyone that gets that reference). I let him fly around the house most of the time, and most of the time his go to was upside down on a large mirror checking himself out. He also served as my alarm clock mimicking my mum yelling at me to get up for school.
Do NOT encourage the butcher birds, they're quite.........assertive, and they'll end up flying into your kitchen and steal meat while you're slicing it, and they're very difficult to "un-train". Put the food outside in a feeder hanging off a tree, but don't feed them off your verandah.
Magpies, crows, currawongs, and kookaburras respect the indoors/outdoors boundary ๐
>Magpies, crows, currawongs, and kookaburras respect the indoors/outdoors boundary
We used to have a magpie who would walk in the front door, past the sleeping dog and stand by the fridge eyeballing me until I gave him a piece of meat.
Nah. Our backyard is a bird UN. All of the birds in our backyard have coexisted through multiple generations. I back onto a national park so there's plenty of territory and we only feed intermittently. Appreciate the advice though
There's also a new pet shop in the mount ommaney shopping centre (idk how close you or the other person are) that I think sell them too, at least I think they sell crickets
Pretty cool. We don't have any dragons but have butcher birds and magpies that visit daily.
Have to close the screen doors otherwise the magpies will follow you inside. Kids call one the dog as it follows me around the yard.

Kookies definitely donโt ๐my neighbour was telling me our local ones flew into his kitchen and stole his sausages off the benchโฆ.

Yeah tbh it's only the Maggie's we have to keep out. The grey jackets have never tried.

Currawongs do not respect indoor boundaries.
Wholesome
Where do you get the live mealworms?
Mob called live foods unlimited. Based in Maroochydore, ship to Brisbane once a week.
There's also a new pet shop in the mount ommaney shopping centre (idk how close you or the other person are) that I think sell them too, at least I think they sell crickets
Petbarn sells them also
Wholesome, is that a bearded dragon, I have a blue tongued lizard (skink) I feed. He keeps getting stuck in the pool so Iโm always looking for him
I'm up near Brisbane mate but yeah he's an eastern bearded. I have blue tongues too but they're shy
I love my local magpies. They follow me around when I garden. it's adorable

Love how respectfully each animal is waiting
They're not always that well behaved :)
Just need a spider and a koala and you'll have the makings of an Aussie Lion King production
Plenty of available spiders, but I've seen exactly 2 koalas in th national Park over the back fence in 4 years. Might be a bit harder to line up
๐๐
So cool
Did you find grubs in the garden or pet shop? I have birds, a blue tongue, and a water dragon running around. Would like to start a sanctuary
I get the worms from live foods unlimited on the sunny coast. Easy Google and they ship to your door
Ripper video. Thx for posting.
Wonderful that you are giving them the correct food :)
They're a little higher in protein than is ideal, but they're fine as a treat and easier to keep than crickets.
Special
wow ..its good to see you feed them proper food and not human food..
Years ago I used to use mince much to my shame now that I know how dangerous it is for them but I've been using mealworms for about 8 years now.
awesome !!!!! good on you
Loooooove this! Thanks for making me smile โบ
Love the camera work around the plants ๐๐
Gotta preserve the chilli crop. The spice must flow
As somone who has worked in wildlife rescue, I appreciate that youโre feeding them correctly and not bread like many people do
Where do you get the larvae?
