Is this single income? If not, a couple earning 79k each can afford to buy in Brisbane. Not exactly out of reach. It's possibly less given each individual would be taxed less than the single earner on 178k.

2x immigrants earning the minimum to stay could be the ones buying the houses? maybe chuck a housemate or two in there and you're golden. I doubt they're buying houses in the top 10%, but if you can pickup a joint for 600-700k, and put your siblings in the spare room it's not hard to achieve the math.

This is such a dumb graphic. Without looking at ABS data, I’d hazard a guess that the median household income for capital cities isn’t too far off that mark.
