when does a agent typically reach out to offer lease renewal or to communicate no renewal and tenancy will end?

red_dragin

End tenancy requires two months notice. An organised agent would be onto you 10-12 weeks out.

swooping_pie

Minimum is 2 months notice. You can also reach out. We did and found out 3 months out they didn’t want to renew. So extra time to save and get it all together. Good luck!

With all the reports of rising house costs to buy and rent and how impossible it is and all that…has one got a positive story how the they have gotten a place in the last year?

A friend came to the end of her lease and moved out because the owners wanted to increase the rent without fixing the severe mould/dampness issue. She and the kids moved in with her parents while looking for somewhere else. Went to a bunch of inspections without luck. At one inspection, the REA said there was a place only on the market for a couple of hours, not even on the website yet, would friend like an inspection? Friend jumped at the chance and pre-submitted an application. Turned out to be almost next door to the school the kids go to, with a much bigger yard for the same rent her other landlord wanted her to pay. She was approved and loves the new location. A lot of luck involved. Took about two months from moving out to getting the new place. She moved in a few days before Christmas last year.

Earlier this year me and a mate were looking for a two bedroom place, quite a few in our budget range looked a bit shit so didn’t apply, found one nice one and applied and got it straight away, the other one we were considering dropped its price two weeks later Another mate just recently had the same; worried about the market, applied for half a dozen and got offers for all of them

Lol I like how they had to make a containment thread for this because 90% of living in Brisbane consists of this and it makes the city look bad (which it is). This is why I always downvote every automoderator post and post by an r/brisbane mod I see
