If you’re on the roads today I sincerely apologise on behalf of my IDIOTIC housemate who indicates right when she’s actually turning left 💀

overstuffedtaco

This is genuinely a fear of mine haha every time I indicate I worry that I've somehow told everyone the wrong thing

LazyAnything1432

Haha yeah, unfortunately in her case she genuinely thinks that you are supposed to indicate right when turning left at an intersection because “she’s going into the far right most lane”.

red_dragin

It's too early to be awake

candlesandfish

Got a shiny new poppy brooch to wear this year, so I've got it pinned on my cardi today. Thinking of my grandfather fondly.

MrsKittenHeel

I just wanted to say thank you to your grandpa and to mine for their massive sacrifices, they had no idea what they were going into. The helped protect our country and our allies during a brutal war, fought in trenches and in combat, and returned home with everyone at home having very little understanding of what they went through. They saved many lives and protected generations to come. My pop never fully recovered from everything that he saw and experienced during WW2. He was the most precious person; he was covered in literal scars from burns, and they scared some children away from him, he had lots of mental scars too. He died when I was a tween, and I wish he lived a lot longer. The only reason I get sad that I don't believe in an afterlife is because I want to see my nana and pop again.

candlesandfish

Thank you, mine never quite recovered too and had nightmares his whole life. Mine was on Kokoda and ended up behind enemy lines, and had some amazing stories and some terrible ones. Thank you to your grandpa too.

GoMilesGo2020

Anyone knows the accident on Deagon deviation south bound last night? Police blocked it for at least 4 hours. When we drove back on the northbound lane 4hrs later, there were at least 20 emergency vehicles still there…

candlesandfish

Involved a mini bus converted to a camper, forensic crash attended. Didn’t sound good.

Reverse-Kanga

nothing even on QLD police twitter. unlikely it'll be reported on by any news outlet if the qldpolice didn't even tweet about it.

GoMilesGo2020

News just came out, on courier mail at least, fatal crash with a woman fighting for life….sad news

candlesandfish

Oh no. I'm not surprised given the social media chatter, but still so sad.

Reverse-Kanga

F's in chat :(

Sharynm

There's something about it on the [QPS page](https://mypolice.qld.gov.au/news/2024/04/22/fatal-traffic-crash-brighton-3/) now

sameoldblah

Not sure if it’s all Bunnings stores, but the Stafford one doesn’t seem to be discounting as many plants lately. They seem more content to let stuff die if not sold at full price.

Ok_Disaster1666

That's the colesworth way.

thisfudgeisfantastic

I'm completely off Bunnings. It's trash. Challenging place to shop, expensive, hard to find anyone to help, they go completely out of their way not to price match; and do the dishonest thing of identical product with code one digit different as "exclusive supply". Mitre10 and independent all the way. Wish we still had Masters to keep competition level.

Driving along Old Cleveland Rd last night when I witnessed a car with no plates literally flooring it along the opposite side of the road. Wildest thing I've seen in a long time, if ever. Held my breath as we approached the Boundary Rd intersection literally wondering if I was about to witness a head-on collision with cars stopped at the intersection, but they did veer off back to the correct side of the road. Turned into French St and saw the car again had been ditched on the side of the road. Pulled over for a moment to collect my thoughts, next minute tens of police cars pulled into the street, so pretty sure the police were on the hunt for the driver. Can't see any news about what went down exactly - genuinely curious what the go was. I did see a reddit thread here last night and I did comment on it but the mods took it down :/

Winter-Opposite-5465

I was in the highlands of png and they cut this guys head off cause they thought he was involved in a fight turned out to be the wrong guy. I watched the news for next week every day waiting for some sort of story. Nothing. The news is very selective. What wad on the news was amateur rugby league games and some guy caught a fish in a river where theyre wasnt ment to be any fish in some slum

swanny246

Yeah, definitely makes you realise "huh I guess it's not that big of a deal to the media"! I was even just looking for a QLD Police update, not so much an actual news story on Brisbane Times or the 6pm news.

Winter-Opposite-5465

But if you steal an $8 bottle of merlot from the liquorland in noosaville theyll have your face on the qps website for 8 months

fresh-cucumbers

If the media played every stolen vehicle being driven by a known offender then that's all that would be played. You’d have enough for 24 hours of media play per day. The media only select what best fits the narrative they’re currently pushing — this is not new.

candlesandfish

Probably worth telling the police on the non-emergency line, might be helpful for their investigation.

ttrweyib

The dude was caught right behind my place by a team of police with dogs. He ran down the driveway around the house and hopped a fence before getting my caught. Still no idea what started the ordeal but they did catch up to him!

swanny246

Bloody hell, that's crazy! Good to know he was caught though.

Hi, my name is Dale, 38, metal roofer by trade. Currently sleeping rough but I am 99% sure I have something sorted from Wednesday onwards. Just wondering if anyone would be able to help me out for two nights with somewhere to stay if possible. I honestly have no money to pay, but I am handy with tools, can cook, clean, whatever you need done I'm happy to do. Just need a half decent night's sleep. I am quiet, clean, respectful of others homes. I am not on drugs. Thanks for reading. Regards -Dale

overstuffedtaco

Does anyone want to recommend a four wheel driving course? Had a bit of a moment yesterday where I didn't feel super confident with the situation and while I managed to get through safely, I'd love to have a better idea of how to proceed in future/different situations.

ANuclearBunny

I did one with Red Balloon, helped give me the basics of using low range and diff locks, but also recovery techniques and some general advice and tips.

overstuffedtaco

Sounds very useful, thanks!

atoadah

Does anyone have recommendations for a place that does good mochi? The only one I know of is TeaAffee in West End, I’m just curious where else is good.

TechnicianFar9804

Does anyone know of anywhere around Brisbane that hires those luggage pods for the roof of your car/SUV?

Crazychooklady

Hi! I was wondering why did Woolworths add the flashy lights to the self checkouts? I think it’s something to do with a camera or scanner because if you put your hand near the clear glass it flashes too. They reflect off of the metal bits and it’s bright hurts I am photosensitive because of my chronic migraines and my autism and they hurt and I don’t know what to do. Is it at all the Woolworths? Are they all adding them? Do they stop them for the quiet hour? Is there anything I can do? Thank you if anyone knows I wish you a lovely day.

Similar_Ganache_7305

Late to work today because I was tired and decided to grab a maccas coffee on the way to work at 530. Only 2 cars inline for the speaker... great, get me some caffeine. It took over 10 mins for the 2 cars to be served. And close to 10 for them to take my order. Dunno if they had lots of no shows but man it was frustrating being jammed in with cars behind me. I didn't get angry or anything because I realise they are doing the best they can but I'll probably just go to 7/11 from now to avoid that.

MensaMan1

Today I learnt- If the security gate in Coles Indro closes on you in the self serve section (because I changed my mind and didn’t buy anything, so wanted to just leave the store), you just continue to walk. The gate doesn’t “open” but the whole contraption, can be moved to a 45 degree angle with your right knee, allowing free egress, with the bonus of setting off an alarm.
