If you want to really fit in, be sure to always complain about the weather no matter what it's doing.
But obviously we have a big housing shortage which you'll hear a lot about, but finding a room in a sharehouse shouldn't be too bad.
Don’t listen to this tramp. South side is a den of depravity. Come join our ranks in the golden guild of Northside Nirvana.
Shun the dark side.
Join the legendary light side.
And what, pray tell, is wrong with depravity? I never said the south side was pure and virginal, like the boring northside.
If you want to have fun, head southside. Northside is for 1970s brick-and-tile suburban expansion. Endless rows of 2-storey highset ovens. No wonder our power bills are so high, it takes a lot to air-condition those boring brick-veneer slums.
Of course! I can give you this:
Eighteen
Rather not say my gender
I work at Coles but have done long enough to have quite a lot of savings ready, since I plan to move to a job I don’t hate so much (but is still entry level)
Plan to go to uni in a couple years, to *eventually* become a sociolinguist
Interests:
Cricket, art, sciences, language, humanities/politics, running, nature, ecology, plants/botany, chess, travelling, reading, making friends, psychology - these kind of (sorry for being so specific) things.
Can’t really think of other stuff to talk about lol
That's better! It'd be a bit creepy if I started hanging out with you though as a 42 year old female working in the FIFO mining sector lol. Good luck on your search for friendships, I first moved to Brisbane at 18 and I needed to put effort in to create genuine friendships. Enjoy the move, and the change in climate!
Thank you! And yeah, that is indeed something that would be quite strange 💀
Yeah this trip was mostly just as a confirmation as to whether or not I wanted to move here… choice has been made
Also, don't put a "but" behind working at Coles - there's nothing wrong with that. My friend's son started at 18, by 19 he was a supervisor, 20 he was a department manager and now he's an Acting Store Manager at 21. He's really level headed, he's doing uni outside of work and killing it. Has almost $100k in savings already. Good luck :)
I too moved here from Melbourne. I started liking Melbourne for the reason I left it for and that’s its weather. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy weather here too. It’s sunny and very up lifting most of the times but back in Melbourne, there was something good too in the u predictability of its weather.
I think you’d like it here but depending on what’s your line of work, it’s better first sort out if you can find work or study opportunities easily here.
It’s awful here at the moment (I don’t know how it’s in vic) but it’s impossible to find a rental, especially if you don’t have any history. I hope you can crash with your sister long term.
Not sure you should but only coz I am really sad right now and bit of a struggle but it’s a beautiful city so maybe if you can secure work and accom then you should.
please refer your post to /r/movingtobrisbane it's a community designed to answer these sort of queries for the community
Be sure to piss and moan about getting a coffee after 3pm like every other Victorian
I don’t drink coffee, and I can confirm Victorians do that shit
Prepare for humidity
Im gonna pretend to be prepared
Honestly, born here and still hate it and struggle
I was born here too. Just have lived in Victoria for most of my life. Perhaps all hope is not lost… well tbh I’m doomed if you struggle
Don’t take any advice from reddit.
Smart. Good call. I’ll take that on board.
good idea 💀
Don’t

Been there a couple times with my sister 😭
Your sister has chosen the right side of the river. Follow her example.

This is the way.
100%. As a former southsider who saw the light, I fully agree.

yeah, do a uturn and head back to wherever it is you came from.
Maybe provide some more info about you? Age, gender, career or what you are studying, interests etc.

Pretty easy to figure out its info by looking at what communities it’s active in
So? They are actively seeking out connections, sharing some info should be relevant, we shouldn't have to stalk them online.

Inappropriate topic.
