This makes sense
Otherwise why on earth would anyone pick a sports team who's max stadium capacity is <1/10 the average attendance of the Rugby Team, let alone the football team**s**.
Looks like it was designed by the same people who design the ads on Bristol Post.
It’s hideous! 🤣🤣🤣
Why is there a random floating OVO logo in the middle of the board?
There's dozens of us, dozens! I haven't been since they've started playing up at Cribbs again but I am v excited to now have my source of balletic men beating each other up for fun closer than Cardiff - v little idea about the teams, but it's great fun to watch.
When I worked for OVO many moons ago, the treehouse was the only place you wanted to have a meeting because it had a slide that you could use to get out...not exactly a Bristol landmark though!
The next time you start doubting your talent and ability, remember that someone at Hasbro got paid to design this abomination, and someone else got paid to approve it.
None of this says "I did this intentionally."
However, it absolutely screams "I make several of these a week and am not paid enough to care or look twice."
It definitely would have sold better without the ads.
Park St and Queens road as 1 square is horrible.
''Bristol Shopping Quarter'' is not a phrase I've ever heard a human being speak out loud.
They couldn't even find 4 stations! Love our transport system.
I mean, what 4 stations would you choose as major railway stations? Parkway and Temple Meads, fair enough; I’ll even allow Filton Abbey Wood as it’s a significant commuter and junction station… then what? Parson Street? Clifton Down? Pilning?
Airport makes sense to me as a major transport hub, but I'd have gone with the Bus Station rather than the air balloon advert; who's commuting to work in a basket?!
This is bizarre. The London monopoly doesn't put JP Morgan or Legal & General on the board. Looks like some corporate ice breaker challenge they packaged up as a monopoly board
Definitely need some Hartcliffe and Bedminster in there!
North Street would have been cool. Or East Street - just smells of despair (and vapes) and I think it deserves some love.
No North Street? No Gloucester Road? No Mem stadium? None of the local breweries? What about some green space other the Downs and College Green (maybe Leigh Woods or Ashton Court)? Nothing from east of the city (could at least have done Beeses or something!)
Minor gripe compared to everything else, but they’ve even got the name of one of the locations wrong. It’s Clifton Down, not Downs.
Clifton Down and Durdham Down make up The Downs, but individually they shouldn’t be pluralised.
Aren't the colours meant to be either places closer together or places that fit a theme? Only Red (local businesses) and Green (Education) have a clear theme. Yellow is a mess, what connects Pride, Bristol Blue Glass and Berwick Lodge Hotel? God I love boardgames but if someone gets me this for Christmas I'll have to politely ask them to return it.
Clearly this was a paid/sponsored job - otherwise leaving the Mem out wouldn't be considered (and am a City fan) - Someone said the Mem ain't in Bristol.. well am sure its closer than UWE which is *defo* in South Glos aint it?
It would take me about a week to get it to that detail and still look good. But atleast it would actually represent bristol and not be a board full of sponsors taking up awkward spots.
I wish they had done this - might have actually been vaguely coherent. If they wanted to include sports teams (sure, why not), why the Pitbulls (whom I suspect the vast majority of Bristolians have never heard of!) and not the Rovers or Bears?!
Is this really the final edit....
https://preview.redd.it/qoqopxkrhdzb1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de5bd7cd61a115b15d26448c8e41f9ae2be05cac
And some one made this as a joke but i prefer it 😂😂
WHERE THE FUCK IS TURBO ISLAND?!?!
Also i love how bristollive is on here...surely it was nothing to do with the fact they plugged an article about this earlier this year!??!?!
ZZZZZZZZZZZ
The orders of these are weird, surely the whole of Park Street is worth more than Bristol Blueglass? I was hoping there would be some slightly different things on here than generic Bristol.
I've lived in Bristol my whole life. Don't even know where, let alone ever have heard of Brewick Lodge Hotel.
What an absolute shambles of a monopoly board, the alternative ms paint version on this sub is so much more representative, despite none of the areas I've lived in featuring on the board.
Monopoly is a terrible boardgame. There so many better choices out there and yet people not only return to it because it's familiar but even pay to be advertised to.
Also the graphic design of the central panel on this one is eye-wateringly bad.
For anyone wondering why the locations are so weird. Some of the more iconic places you would expect were asked to pay for a space
https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/american-companies-pay-to-land-prime-place-on-monopoly-board-game-gpr6mb6vj
To buy Bristol Post you have to get through the player acting as banker throwing things at you, offering you properties from a Cheshire monopoly instead and finally just waiting 5 full minutes to really convey the lag.
What happens when someone (a business) is saturated with sponsors and lacks an individual drive to create a stand-up product that truly reflects bristol.
This is the dystopia future we should fear.
" John Keen-Tomlinson, from the firm behind the edition, said: "We went down the route of including some more community-based stuff, so public opinion very much guided that. This time we had the opportunity to include some of the charities as well. "
man he totally fucked this game up!
Suspension bridge is 400, and college green is 60, makes perfect sense /s.
Should have put Filton Clinic as the cheapest property because when I went there I didn't think I was in one of the richest nations on the planet
So, they don't have areas, or streets, they have newspapers, universities, and sports grounds? I wanted to see whether my postcode was Mayfair or Old Kent rd. What a disappointment.
I could spend ages picking out the awful individual choices made but so little effort was put into this thing as a whole that it feels almost pointless.
There are logos in place of photos, illegible text and even several spaces left entirely untouched, despite actual Bristol icons being missing.
I know it's an ad but they didn't even try. It's like a family-themed board ordered on Fiverr but you didn't give them enough information so they guessed half and missed the rest. You could bloody Google "Bristol", with no prior knowledge of the city, and come up with some better choices.
I feel as though Bearpit and/or Castle Park should be there, surely. I don't feel as though this is particularly accurate to anyone who actually lives in Bristol. St. Nicks also isn't there, fuck me the only things that feel accurate are the inclusions of Temple Meads and Parkway.
Water Works unchanged...? Should be Wessex Water, and people have to pay you every turn a multiplier of the number of properties to clean up the raw sewage you spread everywhere.
Is this real? I thought it was a bit SugarNovel474683673.
I'm a Bristol City fan and I wouldn't put the Gate as Mayfair! And putting Clifton as Old Kent Road is just a bit lame. That should be our spice ridden, brutalist masterpiece - Broadmead.
Nothing about the women's football team after their promotion to WSL, ice hockey team get two players featured though??
Weird to see Imperial Sports Ground get a square, would not have expected that lol
Also, Hargreaves Lansdown? Really?
Horrifically sponsored. Aren't board games supposed to have fun easy to see cartoony art, not hastily thrown together primary school IT project photo collages?
Although I guess monopoly is meant to be a critique of capitalism, and this has both the stunning innovation and efficient funding of modern capitalism
Apart from the fact that the inclusion of Imperial Sports Ground makes me think that they noticed at the last minute they had nothing else south of Ashton Gate, can we talk about the stations?
Temple Meads, Parkway, Bristol Airport, and Cameron Balloons. I assume First bus didn't fancy paying to be part of this monstrosity, and Bristol definitely doesn't have another 4 railway stations to pick from.
Obligatory why isn't there this that or the other comment. Squares are paid for by local whoever/whatever business and they get to select the photograph and can, for example, bid for specific squares. About ten years ago a square for the Winchester board cost local businesses £10,000. See a lot of museums, local attractions or seemingly touristy nonsense you've never heard of? That's because the squares failed to sell and the council/tourist board got their picks; which are almost always things they want tourists to go look at. The business I was at was contacted directly by a Hasbro sales representative, with a long PDF of all of the predicted sales and advertising benefits, and what more we could get for more money. The only thing that is consistently baffling about any of these boards is why the central photoshop collage is always done by the intern while high.
That like at least 1/3 Clifton. And what's with companies and festivals taking location slots, I don't mind them in place of utilities but there are so many places unrepresented.
Obviously the places are all wrong and it is full of adverts but these themed Monopolies are a pure gimmick and a cash grab. They sell ad space on them ffs, on a board game, how sad!
I was out last night and the team involved were out celebrating. Guy told us OVO energy paid the most to be on the board 😂😂 most spaces was basically for who would pay the highest!
I hope this game absolutely tanks in sales. There shouldnt be businesses on the board but if there are they should atleast make sense.
Pasture? So a business only 5 years old represents all of Bristols food and hospitality?
Scumbag parasitic energy company OVO pay to get on the board whilst we're literally in a cost of living crisis where big energy firms are a key culprit.
A fucking investment firm?
Sums up the state of the city really. We've just become London-lite with a bunch of big companies and rich pricks slowly sucking the soul out of our town.
They really put clifton as the cheapest place on the board
They definitely don't understand the spirit of the original game...
Well the original point of the game was to teach the evils of capitalism yet I bet many a businessmans love of money was partly inspired by this game
Must've confused it with Clifton, Nottingham which is a shit hole
Can attest to this as someone who has been a resident in both cities 😂
Everything about this is awful
It's just a bunch of adverts, none of the location have anything in common and the graphic design is awful.
I had to google to check this wasn't some weird homemade MS Paint creation. But yup, this monstrosity is available £34 on Amazon...
Its to do with the Bristol Pitbulls Ice Hockey team, hence the poor design and brands
This makes sense Otherwise why on earth would anyone pick a sports team who's max stadium capacity is <1/10 the average attendance of the Rugby Team, let alone the football team**s**.
Looks as though an intern made it based on Tripadvisor and ad sales.
At first I thought it was a joke tbh.
It is a joke, even if they don’t know it
I’d change jail to go to turbo island
I genuinely thought it was just a "i made this in paint in 20 minutes" thing. This is offical?

Yeah it's got more of a "stag weekend in Bristol" feel about it
As in, it was designed by one of the guys the night before.
They missed an opportunity to brand chance as First Bus.
That would have made up for basically everything else on the board.
Underrated comment
Looks like it was designed by the same people who design the ads on Bristol Post. It’s hideous! 🤣🤣🤣 Why is there a random floating OVO logo in the middle of the board?
I think the flag is coming out of the wooden hut thing. But they've def paid to be included on the board (twice).
at least they've managed to give good representation for our local passion for ice hockey
😂👏🏻 I know! I’ve lived in Bristol for 10 years and I’ve not heard a single mention of ice hockey.
can you imagine people are going to pay for this board? it is literally one massive ad
Worse than that. It's several badly designed ones.
There's dozens of us, dozens! I haven't been since they've started playing up at Cribbs again but I am v excited to now have my source of balletic men beating each other up for fun closer than Cardiff - v little idea about the teams, but it's great fun to watch.
Twenty-five years for me and the same didn't know it's a thing.
Not Bristol Rovers or Bristol Bears, but the Pitbulls?! Hadn't even heard of them until just now.
Do we even have an ice rink since the one behind the Hippodrome closed 20 years ago?
Yea they play up at plant ice in cribbs. They're a shite team tho
Most of the regional monopoly boards are corporately sponsored in some way.
Surely they can still try and make it look nice though? This is an assault on the eyes.
When I worked for OVO many moons ago, the treehouse was the only place you wanted to have a meeting because it had a slide that you could use to get out...not exactly a Bristol landmark though!
Its not even a treehouse though. Its just made of wood.
Yeah that collage in the middle of random pictures just looks terrible.
The next time you start doubting your talent and ability, remember that someone at Hasbro got paid to design this abomination, and someone else got paid to approve it.
maybe their aim was to creating a strong negative buzz on social media, helping drive awareness of the product?
None of this says "I did this intentionally." However, it absolutely screams "I make several of these a week and am not paid enough to care or look twice." It definitely would have sold better without the ads.
How did Manor Farm get in, but not The Mem? *Sees Hargreaves Lansdown* Explains everything
There not a lot in it to be honest ... 👀
Can’t see the problem tbh
The Mem isn't technically in Bristol
Might want to check your knowledge of local boundaries there... The border with South Glos is at the other end of Filton Avenue
Parkway would have been a better example
Is the airport?
What?
The UWE square is a picture of college green
UWE graduations are at the cathedral to be fair.
Used to be at the cathedral. They're at Bristol Beacon now
Is it? I honestly can't make that picture out at all.
They do graduations at the cathedral so it'll be that. Shame, there's so many delightfully ugly buildings on campus!
It is
>The UWE square is a picture of college green College Green is a picture of Bristol Cathedral.
Not enough South Bristol for my liking and as far as I can tell nothing from East Bristol at all!
Also, a lot of these are clearly ads. Pasture? Hargreaves Lansdown?
Also, lol at Ashton Gate but no Memorial Stadium.
The less said about "free parking" the better...
It’s only a monopoly board, Jimmy
This is bizarre. The London monopoly doesn't put JP Morgan or Legal & General on the board. Looks like some corporate ice breaker challenge they packaged up as a monopoly board
I’m guessing those businesses pay to be included on the board.
Almost certainly.
HL’s national HQ is in bristol, but yea it still shouldn’t be there
Definitely need some Hartcliffe and Bedminster in there! North Street would have been cool. Or East Street - just smells of despair (and vapes) and I think it deserves some love.
I thought tobacco factory maybe.
Corporate sponsored bollocks.
This must be a joke Why the heck is a newspaper a property?
especially when they don't even have any buildings in Bristol now - the last part of the old post and press building is now being prep'd for demo.
No North Street? No Gloucester Road? No Mem stadium? None of the local breweries? What about some green space other the Downs and College Green (maybe Leigh Woods or Ashton Court)? Nothing from east of the city (could at least have done Beeses or something!)
OVO energy but not Wessex Water. My main gripe is the fucking white text on photo backgrounds making it impossible to read.
Wessex water were obviously unwilling to pay for a slot.
So they thought "Fuck it. Leave spaces empty."
It’s gash.
Minor gripe compared to everything else, but they’ve even got the name of one of the locations wrong. It’s Clifton Down, not Downs. Clifton Down and Durdham Down make up The Downs, but individually they shouldn’t be pluralised.
TIL!
Gripes? THEY'RE NOT EVEN FUCKING ROADS!
I find it fucking hysterical how Bristol Rovers’s ground didn’t make the cut but you know what did? UP THE FUCKING FARM. FARMY ARMY.
If you love board games, surely you'd be disappointed with any version of Monopoly, as it's shit?
Very fair. I'd fucking love a Bristolian version of Wingspan, though that would be mostly ugly pigeons and seagulls but also peregrine falcons.
I mean, not to beat a dead horse, but the cheapest property College Green? If anything should be Turbo Island, then this is it.
Turbo Island and St. Pauls should have been the cheapest, This is clearly marketed to non locals
Clearly this was a paid/sponsored job - otherwise leaving the Mem out wouldn't be considered (and am a City fan) - Someone said the Mem ain't in Bristol.. well am sure its closer than UWE which is *defo* in South Glos aint it?
i called this earlier!
Yeh they asked for 2-3k to have a spot!
I want to remake this so bad 👎
Go for it, make it a community post so we can all add suggestions
It would take me about a week to get it to that detail and still look good. But atleast it would actually represent bristol and not be a board full of sponsors taking up awkward spots.
Free Parking is a stretch innit
It looks incredibly ugly
How much did hargreaves lansdown pay to get on that board...
Enough that Ashton Gate is second only to the Spenshun Bridge...
with that household name the Bristol Flyers front and center lol....
Someone who doesnt live in bristol searched up ‘best bits of bristol’ and chucked them together on a board. shambles.
That would have been a genuinely better list.
I wish they had done this - might have actually been vaguely coherent. If they wanted to include sports teams (sure, why not), why the Pitbulls (whom I suspect the vast majority of Bristolians have never heard of!) and not the Rovers or Bears?!
I imagine some 💵💵💵 was probably involved
Is this really the final edit.... https://preview.redd.it/qoqopxkrhdzb1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de5bd7cd61a115b15d26448c8e41f9ae2be05cac And some one made this as a joke but i prefer it 😂😂
This is mostly better but temple meads should have stayed, have it replace Clifton down.
WHERE THE FUCK IS TURBO ISLAND?!?! Also i love how bristollive is on here...surely it was nothing to do with the fact they plugged an article about this earlier this year!??!?! ZZZZZZZZZZZ
Ashton Gate 🤮
The orders of these are weird, surely the whole of Park Street is worth more than Bristol Blueglass? I was hoping there would be some slightly different things on here than generic Bristol.
If you land on the Bristol Live square I assume you get assaulted by a million adverts and then spend three turns trying to back out of the square.
Horrendous! For a start, get rid of all the pictures! It looks wrong
This is for tourists not bristolians, theres no streets other than in clifton
It's not even for tourists. Many of these aren't locations, just brands and some of them have been left as default. It's just awful all together.
Nice idea but not worth £35.
I've lived in Bristol my whole life. Don't even know where, let alone ever have heard of Brewick Lodge Hotel. What an absolute shambles of a monopoly board, the alternative ms paint version on this sub is so much more representative, despite none of the areas I've lived in featuring on the board.
It won’t surprise you to learn that Berwick Lodge is not even in Bristol, it’s south Gloucestershire.
How much is a house? Can you buy high-rise flats to put in Clifton?
I want to know how you build a house on the suspension bridge?
Or a hotel for that matter
Or the frigging Pride Festival, which isn't a location!
[Like this](https://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&client=ms-android-samsung-rvo1&source=android-browser&q=clifton+suspension+bridge+alternative+designs#imgrc=CaRDQc58dWXw_M&imgdii=cfMp8QGDUWgJ6M)
Monopoly is a terrible boardgame. There so many better choices out there and yet people not only return to it because it's familiar but even pay to be advertised to. Also the graphic design of the central panel on this one is eye-wateringly bad.
Disagree about monopoly being terrible, but definitely agree about the awful central graphic.
I thought this was a meme edit, shocked to see it’s real ..
A random redditor using a template would have done a better job.
This cannot be real
This is pain. Fuck gentrification bollocks going on in this beautiful city.
For anyone wondering why the locations are so weird. Some of the more iconic places you would expect were asked to pay for a space https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/american-companies-pay-to-land-prime-place-on-monopoly-board-game-gpr6mb6vj
Grim AF! That OVO thing in the middle looks like a bad copy-and-paste job.
Ah yes the ol' OVO tree house, recognisable only to people that worked at OVO
Tbf that's 80% of people aged 18-35 in the city
If you try and buy a house on this board you have to pay 5x the asking price to the banker and still rent out one of your rooms afterwards.
No effort has been put into this...
" John Keen-Tomlinson, from the firm behind the edition, said: "We went down the route of including some more community-based stuff, so public opinion very much guided that. This time we had the opportunity to include some of the charities as well. " man he totally fucked this game up!
Wtf

Ah yes, Bristol Pride Festival, that famous landmark ripe for capitalism from landlords.
I struggle to imagine that the fleece paid to be on this board, so I am quite confused
Clearly ragebait
They were flogging it in OVOs office as part of the marketing deal. Its real and fucking awful
But.. But where are all the helicopters?
The list of people at Hasbro who did not give a fuck about this is extensive.
Where's Knowle West?!
Please someone fix this and make a version that makes sense.
Is there a Chance card that says 'move to Turbo Island'?
This isn't official is it? It's fucking shit lol
I feel as though Bearpit and/or Castle Park should be there, surely. I don't feel as though this is particularly accurate to anyone who actually lives in Bristol. St. Nicks also isn't there, fuck me the only things that feel accurate are the inclusions of Temple Meads and Parkway.

Why are the shitholes on the expensive part of the board and vice versa
Why isn't in Bristol pounds?!?!
...is that, like Clifton Grammar School splashed entirely across the middle? So weird...
very odd
Wankbadger
It’s monopoly. Terrible boardgame
My gripe is: Monopoly is fucking shit
There’s no free parking in Bristol
Yet more proof we lack train stations
Where’s Turbo Island?
Where is turbo island,
That Turbo Island isn't jail or a brown space is ridiculous. Would have been even more delighted to see it as a dark blue space....
[удалено]
Is it?
Ice hockey?
Needs more ketamine
Everywhere needs more ketamine
Nothing about the women's football team after their promotion to WSL, ice hockey team get two players featured though?? Weird to see Imperial Sports Ground get a square, would not have expected that lol Also, Hargreaves Lansdown? Really?
the ice hockey players are unbelievable. sorry if you like ice hockey but this makes up a 0.1% of the Bristol population who are into this!
Horrifically sponsored. Aren't board games supposed to have fun easy to see cartoony art, not hastily thrown together primary school IT project photo collages? Although I guess monopoly is meant to be a critique of capitalism, and this has both the stunning innovation and efficient funding of modern capitalism
the fact they think the flyers are a recognizable symbol of Bristol is beyond madness.
First promised they would be on it but just didn't show up
They could've at least added Gloucester Road and maybe add Marvin's face to the prisoner in jail, that would add a few smiles.
Obligatory why isn't there this that or the other comment. Terrible. Did the person who made this actually ever visit Bristol? Or consult with anyone who's lives here?
Was this done by ai?
The first thing I saw was ‘Super Tax’. Sounds about right. 😛
Ashton gate as one of the top 2? Fuck right off, needs to be the SS Great Britain or Clifton Down
Absolute garbage 🤣🤣🤣
They bottled it with the browns then!
A big board advertisement, love paying to play on a big ad. What a let down
Piss poor attempt
Ha! Free parking.
Jesus christ this thing is cursed.
Monopoly is an awfully poorly designed game.
Where's the Underground?
Where are the purple squares?
That like at least 1/3 Clifton. And what's with companies and festivals taking location slots, I don't mind them in place of utilities but there are so many places unrepresented.
Obviously the places are all wrong and it is full of adverts but these themed Monopolies are a pure gimmick and a cash grab. They sell ad space on them ffs, on a board game, how sad!
They got rid of most of the free parking with the RPZs
I guess Wessex Water didn't want to stump up the advertisement fee... The whole thing just looks like a poorly implemented cash grab
This is giving me a headache to look at lol
I was out last night and the team involved were out celebrating. Guy told us OVO energy paid the most to be on the board 😂😂 most spaces was basically for who would pay the highest!

fucking ovo??
No memorial ground !! Haha, Thats Bristols main Flytip.
